Comeback by The Score - Shintaro to Kai

This one is going to be a little different! This one is going to be an "imagine" song, one where the song is basically happening during a scenario. I imagine Shintaro talking to Kai, using the lyrics of this song - and you'll see why. :) I imagine during this song, it's the middle of the night, and Kai retreated into the hallway - but Shintaro followed.

~

You're broken down and tired: Kai occasionally would wake up from a nightmare or a memory, often like Shintaro. Shintaro knows what this is like, and any time Kai would accidentally wake Shintaro up, Shin would immediately be there to help. Both of the them feel broken down and tired after nightmares, after days of doubt, after memories.

It's hard to know where the right way goes: Kai often feels lost and alone (hence the name Alone), and Shintaro can relate to what this feels like. Shintaro and Kai share this feeling, mostly because Shintaro feels responsible for the Darks. Shintaro has grown to care for Kai like his own child, and he is always there to comfort him.

You're trying to find that fighter: Shintaro knows that Kai is a fighter, and he was trying to help Kai reignite the fighting flame inside him. Shintaro realized how hard it is to break through the walls of doubt and anger; but he knew - knows - that Kai can rise above himself.

It's time to come alive: During this breakdown, I imagine that Kai felt broken, damaged, useless, and a burden. Kai knew that he was constantly hurting Chase, and this brought him down greatly. Shintaro also knew this, and he realized that Kai felt bad about that. Shintaro comforts and encourages him throughout all of Kai's doubts.

And come back: Shintaro told - and tells - Kai that he needed to come back. To break through the thoughts and doubts in his head, to realize that Kai is worth the world to every one of his friends - to his father. To Shintaro. Shintaro wouldn't let Kai fall into the depths of despair, because he knew and knows exactly what it feels like to break down.

Without being afraid: I use this line to imagine that Shintaro was talking not just to Kai - but to himself too. Shintaro and Kai share the feeling of fear, though each of them fear different things. They may fear similar things, but Shintaro told Kai that he shouldn't be afraid - while convincing himself.

We need to come back: Notice that this line uses the word "we". Once more, this makes me imagine that Shintaro was not just talking to Kai, wasn't just encouraging Kai. Shintaro, maybe even without realizing it, needed to hear those words too. He was comforting himself and Kai.

You lost what you believe: Kai felt - and feels - broken, like he isn't sure what to believe in anymore. It's certain that he doesn't believe in himself, at least not in the "imagine" case. Shintaro used these words to tell him that he knew what that feels like - and Kai needs to come back.

Don't let go of everything you know: Shintaro was telling Kai that he couldn't let himself get dragged under his doubts and despair. He couldn't let go of everything he knew, his friends, his family, his magic, his life.

We'll make the mountains shake, we'll watch them as they crumble: "The mountains" being enemy Darks, or even Brethren, and their doubts and fears. Shintaro was saying that they would rise up together and defeat the Darks; but not just the Darks - they would rise up and defeat their fears and doubts together

Promise to always stay: That is to say that Shintaro won't let Kai leave - emotionally or physically. Yet - Kai is gone, out of Shintaro's reach, without keeping his promise.

~

A lot of the lines I couldn't even find the words for, because all of them make sense. This is an imagine, so listen to the lyrics and imagine with me - Shintaro kneeling in front of Kai, pulling him into a hug, using these lyrics to lift Kai's spirits again.
