Ch. 7 | A Taste For Blood
Previously. . .
After the school day was over, the four friends parted ways and began to walk home.
"You're leaving again?" Matt asked.
"It's fine." Jake said. "We have a project to work on anyways."
"Hey, I'm cool with it too." Matt said. "I'm glad that you're having fun with your new friends."
"Oh that's good." Jake said, smirking. "For a second, I thought you were jealous that I made new friends."
"Of course not." Matt said. "Why would I be-"
Jake chuckled. "I'm just teasing, Matt." He said. "We'll hang out some other time, okay?"
Matt just smiled as they didn't say anything else on the way back.
But as they were walking, Jake had suddenly passed by a young woman with blonde hair and a large scarf around her neck, covering half of her face. And they slightly bumped shoulders.
But as they passed each other, they locked eyes for a few seconds as he sensed a strange aura coming off of her, causing him to stop dead in his tracks. The young woman also stopped in her tracks as well.
"Jake. . . is everything okay?" Matt asked, turning around.
"That. . . that aura." Jake said. "I felt a strange sensation about that girl we just passed."
Matt looked behind them and saw the young woman had stopped as well. "Looks like she also had the same thought." He said.
Jake turned to face the woman, who was still turned around. "Uh, hello there." He said. "I didn't mean to bump you."
The girl didn't say anything.
"Uh, hello?" Matt said. "Earth to strange woman?"
The young woman turned her head slightly and looked at Jake.
"Um. . . are you headed to the academy?" Jake asked. "I hate to burst your bubble, but. . . the school day's over now."
"Ah. . . so it is." The girl said, turning to fully face them. "You just finished a day, didn't you?"
"Uh, yeah." Jake said.
"Man, what a creepy girl." Matt said. "Who even are you? And why are you walking around like that? It's not even cold out."
"Oh, you don't know, huh?" The girl said, giving a small giggle. "Well, I guess I have some time."
The young woman then pulled her scarf down to reveal her mouth and smiled big, showing off sharp fangs underneath.
"My name is Himiko Toga." The girl said. "But you can just address me as Toga."
_________
Jake ad Matt were just standing there as Toga had introduced herself.
"Himiko. . . Toga?" Matt said in confusion, before he suddenly had a realization. "Wait, you're that psycho who's with the League of Villains in Japan!"
"So, you have heard." Toga smirked.
"Wait. . . you're a villain?" Jake asked. "So, that's why your aura felt strange. You're evil."
Toga chuckled as she pulled out a knife. "Well, guilty as charged."
"Woah, woah, woah. . . we're doing that here?" Jake asked, backing away a bit. "In broad daylight?"
"I'll call the cops." Matt said, pulling out his phone.
But before he could do anything, the knife was suddenly thrown at his phone, causing it to be knocked out of his hands and destroyed it.
"Hey!" Matt said angrily. "I paid thirteen hundred bucks for that!"
"Really?" Jake asked, surprised. "Phones are that expensive here?"
"Everything techy is more expensive when you have scientists working on crazy new models." Matt shrugged. "It's just the way we live on I-Island."
"I'm not here to cause a scene." Toga said. "I'm just in need of a break. But if you fools want to intervene. . . then I'll deal with you myself."
Toga then looked at Jake as a large grin formed on her face. "Or maybe I want a new love." She said.
"Huh?" Jake said, confused.
Suddenly, Toga charge towards the boys with her knife in her hand. She then swung the knife, as if attempting to stab or cut one of them.
Luckily, Jake and Matt managed to dodge her attack, leaving Toga stumbling and almost falling to the ground.
"What the hell?" Matt cried in shock. "What's wrong with you?"
"Come on. . . just a little taste." Toga smirked.
"You're so creepy. . ." Jake said. "I mean, you're cute. . . but creepy. All at the same time."
"Oh, you think I'm cute, huh?" Toga smirked. "Let's see how long you think that when I cut your throat!"
Toga then charged at them once again, but they both still managed to dodge to attack.
"Man. . . she's quick." Matt said.
"We have to take her out." Jake said, as sparks of lightning flickered in his hands. "We can't let a villain run rampant through the streets."
"Yeah. . . you're right." Matt said. "See ya."
With that said, Matt suddenly turned around and ran in the opposite direction of the fight.
"Dude!?" Jake called out to him. 'He just. . . dipped? So much for that, I guess.'
"Aww, your friend got scared?" Toga smirked. "Oh well. . . I'll have fun making up for it by cutting you up!"
Toga then charged at Jake again as he quickly dodged out of the way. But Toga continued to charge and jump at him, and Jake was starting to get tired.
"You can't keep this up forever." Toga said. "I'll catch up with you eventually."
"You're a crazy one, I'll admit that." Jake said. "But you don't scare me."
"Oh my god. . . you're so cute." Toga said. "Maybe I'll spare you and only cut you up a little."
Jake froze when she said that. "You. . . what's going on in your head?" He asked.
Toga then charged at Jake once again, but when Jake tried to dodge her, he ended up being just a bit too slow as Togas knife made contact with his skin and cut his arm. Jake cried out in pain and stumbled backward.
"Gotcha!" Toga looked back at him and smirked.
"Gah! You little-!" Jake wanted to fight back, but his arm was now damaged. "Damn it. . ."
"I just want a taste of your blood. . ." Toga smirked. "And then. . . it'll all be over with."
Jake felt the anger boiling up inside of himself as his hands began to spark with lightning.
"Anyway, I'll let you live." Toga said. "I think I love you!"
Jake then shot put his hand as a bolt of lightning went straight towards Toga, as she jumped out of the way.
"Woah. . . interesting." Toga said with a wide smile on her face. "Maybe that can come in handy later."
"Oh, I'm not done yet." Jake said. "I still got some fight left. If I could just-"
"Nah, I'm good." Toga said, turning away. "I'll see you soon, Jake. Sooner than you think."
Jake's eyes widened in shock as Toga suddenly charged at him and sweeper her leg under him, knocking him down on the ground.
And after that, Toga took some quick steps and seemingly bounced away into the shadows.
Jake was left on the ground, holding his arm in pain. He slowly stood back up and grunted in pain. He looked towards where Toga had left and formed an angry expression on his face.
________
Back at his apartment, Matt was on the phone with someone before Jake came in.
"Ah, Jake!" Matt said, quickly hanging up the phone. "I'm so glad you're okay. I just called the cops, so they should be on that blonde girl's trail soon."
"You left me to die!" Jake said angrily. "You could've used your power to help me."
"Forgive me, Jake." Matt said. "I was just coming home to call the cops. I was gonna get right back to you."
"Ugh. . . I'm gonna deal with myself." Jake said, wincing in pain. "And then I'm going over to see Melissa and help with the project. I should be back later tonight."
With that said, Jake went into the bathroom to care for his wound. Matt just looked down sadly as he knew he messed up big time.
"Stupid!" Matt said, facepalming.
________
Back with Toga, she had just made it to hide in an alleyway as she saw there were some police cars patrolling the roadways.
"So, Jake called the police on me." Toga said as a wide grin appeared on her face. "No matter. This is just the first step to get him to notice me. Cause once I'm in love with someone. . . I'll never stop hunting them down."
