My Hair, My Crown

Like the gentle sunrise's smile, my hair awakens,
A crown of coiled strength, every strand an evidence
To the journey of my people,
Woven with pride and resilience.

Not a mane of silk, nor tresses spun of gold, mine's a serenity of coils,
A story yet untold.
Curled tight like the secrets whispered by ancestors,
It spirals upward, reaching for the heavens
Like a natural monument
To the beauty of our heritage.

Each kink and coil tells a story of survival,
Of fields tilled under sun and song,
Of dances beneath moonlight,
A living chronicle of trials and triumphs.
Spirals reaching for the heavens high,
defying gravity, a defiant cry.
A tangled forest where secrets softly hide,
Whispers of ancestors, wisdom held inside.

Braided in patterns
Like the rivers of the Nile,
My hair, weaves connections to kin and kinship,
Binding me to the roots of my identity and history.
Braids like rivers, flowing down my back, each twist a memory,
A path I won't retract.
Coils like springs, a boundless, vibrant life,
Resilience woven tight,
A testament to strife.

With beads and shells, it sings a melody of tradition and artistry,
Each adornment a note
In the anthem of our existence,
A celebration of who we are.
Not tamed by comb nor bound by ribbon's hold,
A crown of freedom, a story to be bold.
A canvas for creativity, a crown for every soul,
Afro, dreadlocks, twists, a beauty to make whole.

Untamed and free,
It defies the world's attempts to confine its spirit,
Standing tall, resilient,
A symbol of defiance and a beacon of pride.
Let the doubters scoff, let ignorance decree, this crown of kinks and coils, it sets my spirit free.
A crown of heritage,
A crown I proudly wear,
A symbol of my strength,
A story I will share.

In every twist and turn,
My hair, holds power,
A crown of infinite shapes and stories,
Reflecting the boundless spirit of Africa,
A heritage I wear with honor and grace.
For in this crown, a universe resides,
a weaving of textures, where history confides.
My hair, my crown,
A masterpiece untold,
An odyssey waiting to unfold.
