the talk about wells' death spread around camp rather fast. someone had woken up and was supposed to take over wells' shift of guarding the wall, but all they found was his dead body and three missing fingers from him.

kodie was currently in the drop ship hanging out with monty while he tried to get a connection to the ark. "octavia's bracelet didn't work." monty explains.

"who else is willing to give up their bracelet?" kodie asks.

"me." clarke says as she walks into the drop ship. finn walks in behind her with his arms crossed over his chest, but remains by the door as clarke holds out her arm for monty to get the wristband off.

"you sure?" monty glances up at the blonde.

clarke nods, "positive."

as monty begins trying to pry off the wristband clarke winces a bit in pain. kodie walks over to finn and crosses her arms over her chest like he was doing. "so, what's going on with you and clarke?"

"nothing." he shakes his head quickly.

kodie eyes him, "it better be nothing." she wanders back over to monty as he cheers.

"yes! it's still operational."

clarke walks over to finn and he gives her a look. "what? monty need a working wristband."

"and you needed to punish your mom." he retorts, causing kodie to raise an eyebrow, but she didn't question it.

"look," clarke sighs, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. "they're running out of air and we need their help. my mother thinking i'm dead is only temporary."

"not if i can't patch it through the drop ship mainframe." monty speaks up, looking over his shoulder at the two. "i can do it. we'll be talking to the ark by nightfall."

"heard you were being an asshole earlier, my trash prince." kodie smirks, crossing her arms over her chest as she stood next to murphy while he supervised people work on the wall.

"well i'm trash, right?" he smirks. "gotta act like it."

"you're the good kind of trash." she nudges his shoulder.

"there's a good kind?" he jokes, glancing over at her.

"last night was fun." kodie licks her lips. "it was nice being able to talk to someone."

"i'm free whenever you need me." he smiles, but is soon shoved to the side.

"you son of a bitch!"

"who the hell pissed in your cheerios?" kodie scoffs.

"recognise this?" clarke ignored kodie and shoved the blade in front of murphy's face.

"it's my knife. where'd you find it?" murphy reaches out for his knife, but clarke pulled it back.

"where you dropped it after you killed wells."

kodie shouted "what?" the same time murphy said "where i what?"

murphy glances around at the delinquents who were now forming a circle around the three. "the grounders killed wells, not me."

"i know what you did." clarke shakes her head. "and you're gonna pay for it."

"really?" murphy scoffs. "bellamy, you really believe this crap?"

"you threatened to kill him. we all heard you. you hated wells." clarke says.

"plenty of people hated wells." murphy states the obvious. "his father was the chancellor that locked us up."

kodie marched over to bellamy as clarke spoke again. "yeah, but you're the only one who got in a knife fight with him."

"yeah, i didn't kill him then, either." he shakes his head in disbelief.

"what the hell is she doing, bellamy?" kodie pushes the older boy's chest. "i was with murphy all night. he didn't kill wells."

"tried to kill jasper too." octavia joined the conversation.

"come on, this is ridiculous. i don't have to answer to you. i don't have to answer to anyone." murphy said loudly.

"come again?" bellamy steps forward, bumping into kodie in the process.

"bellamy, look." murphy walked over to the curly haired boy. "i'm telling you, man. i didn't do this."

bellamy sighs, "they found his fingers on the ground with your knife."

kodie grabbed his arm. "he was with me, bellamy. how many times to i have to—"

"is this the kind of society that we want?" clarke interrupts. "you say there should be no rules. does that mean that we can kill each other without—without punishment?"

"i already told you." murphy turns to the blonde. "i didn't kill anyone."

"i say we float him." a boy which kodie learned was named connor spoke up.

clarke shakes her head. "that's not what i'm saying."

"why not?" connor throws his hands up. "he deserves to float. it's justice."

"revenge isn't justice." clarke responds.

"it's justice. float him!" he throws his fist in the air and everyone begins to chant along with him.

"bellamy!" kodie tugs on the boy's shirt. "he didn't fucking do it. are you deaf?" murphy begins to get annoyed and angry with connor, so he charges forward, but someone trips him. as he falls to the ground kodie's eyes widen and she rushes forward to stop them as everyone began kicking and punching him, but two strong hands gripped her arms and held her back. "stop hurting him!" she shouts, trying to get from the grip, but she had no luck.

"you can stop this!" clarke shouts, glancing behind kodie and the brunette immediately knew who was holding her back. "they'll listen to you!"

kodie gets out of bellamy's grip and rushes over to where they had taken murphy. he was stood on a crate with a rope around his neck. "stop this!" she shouts, but connor grips her arm.

"bellamy! you should do it!" connor shouts.

kodie swings her elbow back and hits connor in the stomach before rushing over to bellamy who had rejoined the group. "bellamy, i saw you in the woods with atom. i know you're not a killer."

"bellamy, dont do this." tears were streaming down murphy's bloody face as he begged for his life.

"don't, bellamy. you can't do this." clarke pleads.

bellamy glances between the two girls before stepping forward and kicking the crate out from underneath murphy. "no!" kodie cries, punching bellamy's chest.

bellamy looks over at clarke, getting in her face. "this is on you, princess. you should've kept your mouth shut."

"what the hell are you doing?" kodie looked over to see finn emerge from outside the wall. "cut him down!" he glances over at the little girl that was watching with wide eyes. "charlotte, get out of here now!" he turns back to the group. "cut him down! get out of my way."

"stop! okay?" charlotte screams, causing everyone to look at her. "murphy didn't kill wells! i did!"

"oh my god." clarke quickly turns to bellamy, grabbing his axe from his belt loop. she quickly cut murphy down and as he fell to the floor finn rushed over to help him remove the rope from around his neck, but kodie continued to stare at the little girl who was looking around at all the surprised faces.

"you little bitch!" kodie shouts, ready to charge, but bellamy quickly grabs her arms again, pulling her back. "why the hell would you do that, charlotte? why?"

"stop." bellamy spoke quietly as he held kodie to his chest. "get the girl in a tent and let's go."

kodie rips away from his grip and follows finn into a tent. clarke and bellamy soon come in with charlotte between them and kodie shakes her head, her hands in fists. "why, charlotte?" she asks.

"i was just trying to slay my demons like bellamy told me too." she says.

"what the hell is she talking about?" clarke questions.

kodie shook her head, "she misunderstood him."

"charlotte, that's not what i meant." bellamy shakes his head also.

murphy and the other delinquents were outside and the trash prince was definitely not happy. "bring out the girl, bellamy!"

"please don't let them hurt me." charlotte pleaded.

"don't let them hurt you?" kodie scoffs. "he was hung for your crimes and you don't think you should suffer any?"

"you have no room to talk." bellamy snaps. "you get caught stealing and get arrested, but you're too scared to be in a damn cell so you have your old man drop you to the ground just so he could be floated."

"bellamy," clarke eyes the boy before speaking quietly. "stop."

"you are a shitty leader." kodie stands in front of bellamy. "you are killing innocent people and keeping the guilty alive." she shakes her head. "i fucking told you i was with him all night. why the hell couldn't believe me just one time?"

bellamy ignores the girl. "well, murphy will kill her if she's left alone, so anyone got any bright ideas?" kodie simply crossed her arms over her chest and stepped away from him as clarke and finn remain silent. "now you stay quiet."

"those are your boys out there." finn states.

"this is not my fault." bellamy snaps, pointing a finger at clarke. "if she had listened to me, those idiots would still be building the wall."

"you want to build a society, princess?" murphy shouts to clarke which made kodie mentally pout. she was the princess. clarke was no princess. "let's build a society. bring her out."

"no!" charlotte clutched bellamy's arm. "please, bellamy."

"charlotte, hey." bellamy bend down so he was almost eye level with her. "it's gonna be okay. just stay here with them."

bellamy exits the tent and kodie soon follows, still glaring at the back of bellamy's head. kodie walked around bellamy and stood next to murphy. "well, well, well. look who decided to join us." his words dripped with venom as he glares at bellamy.

"dial it down and back off." bellamy spoke in a hushed tone.

"you're pathetic." kodie scoffs.

"or what?" murphy raises an eyebrow. "what are you gonna do about it? hang me?" kodie frowned slightly at that comment and glanced over at murphy before looking at the ground.

"i was just giving the people what they wanted." bellamy responds.

"yeah, yeah, that's a good idea. why don't we do that right now?" he turned to the people behind him. "so, who here wants to see the real murderer hung up? all in favour?" only a few hands went up, including kodie's. it was a rule that she had learned: jus drein jus daun; blood must have blood. "i see." murphy nods, turning back to bellamy. "so it's okay to string me up for nothing, but when this little bitch confesses you all let her walk? cowards! all of you are cowards!"

"hey, murphy! murphy!" bellamy tried catching the boy's attention again. "it's over."

"whatever you say, boss." murphy responds bitterly. as bellamy goes to walk away murphy grabs a log and kodie's eyes widen. "son of a bitch!" he swings the log at bellamy and it hits the back of his head.

"hey!" jasper stepped forward and murphy swung his fist into the side of the boy's face.

kodie gasps, "murphy!"

"come on. let's get the girl!" three others follow murphy to the tent and as people began to span out in different directions. some returning to work, some just walking around, and some looking for charlotte who had mysteriously disappeared from the tent with clarke and finn.

kodie kneeled down next to bellamy and titled his head to look at his injury. there was no blood, which was good, but he was still unconscious. "murphy!" she yells to him.

"what's up, grounder princess?" he approaches her with a knife in his hand.

"you have to stop this. you're just digging a deeper hole for yourself. i understand you're completely traumatised considering you almost died, but you need to know that what you're doing now will not fix any problems."

"you rose your hand too." he says as someone hands him a torch. "we're going out to find her. are you coming or not?"

"not." she purses her lips. "you're just getting yourself into more trouble, murphy."

"i don't care." he scoffs in disgust at bellamy's unconscious state and turns on his heels with the others following behind. kodie dropped back down to the ground next to bellamy and tugged at the roots of her hair as she shook her head. earth was becoming crazy, but sometimes things needed to be a little crazy for the world to be sane.
