Alone

"I haven't spoke to my parents in twenty eight years."

"Wow! Are they still alive? Since you never brought them up I just assumed they weren't."

"Last I heard they were still alive."

"What happened?"

With tears in her eyes Elsa started from the very beginning.

Germany 1912

(I'm writing in English but pretend they're speaking german🤣)

Elsa sat in her room alone.  She played with the one toy she had.  An old dirty doll.  The doll had a missing eye and markings on her face, but to Elsa she was perfect.

"My baby!" Elsa smiled and hugged her doll tightly.

"I sing to you, baby!" Elsa then began singing a song she made up.

Elsa was a very beautiful child.  Beautiful porcelain skin, gorgeous curly blonde hair.  She had a cute button nose, and sweet pouty lips.

Today Elsa wore her favorite dress.  It was a hand-me-down from her older cousin.  There were stains and rips that had been patched up.

To Elsa it was a beautiful dress fit for the princess she was.

"You see my beautiful dress, baby?  I a Princess!" Elsa then stood up and twirled around for her doll.

Elsa had the most creative little mind.  She constantly lived in her imagination.  She performed hundreds of shows in her room for her doll.

Elsa spent most of her time alone.  She had a grieving mother, and an alcoholic father.

Elsa's older sister Ingrid was born two years before Elsa.  Her parents adored the baby.
  She was their world.

At eight months old Ingrid passed in her sleep.
To this day her parents still do not know the reason.

After Ingrid's death Elsa's father turned to alcohol.  Her mother never recovered.

When she was pregnant with Elsa every movement she made made her think of when she was carrying Ingrid.  When Elsa was born she didn't have that immediate connection with her the way she did with her older sister.

Elsa, being only two years old didn't notice her parents' problems.

That is until today.

"Come baby.  I take you to mama!  Mama help us." Elsa took her doll and ran to her parents' room.

"MAMA!  Mama my baby gots a boo boo!  Help us please!"

"Oh Elsa Please!  Not now!"

"Mommy.. you're sad.. don't cry.  I here!" Elsa smiles softly.

"Yes." Her mother turns to her. "There you are."

Elsa giggles and twirls around. "I wearing my princess dress!"

"Go to your room, Elsa."

"I no leave you sad!"

"I want to be alone.  I especially don't want to be around you."

"Why not Mama?" Elsa asked so innocently.

"Just go."

Elsa pouted and walked to the living room with her doll.

"Dada?" Elsa walked into the living room. "Dada can you help baby's boo boo?"

Elsa's father had so much to drink and was clearly not in his right mind.  He turned and looked at her with so much anger.

"You.  We never wanted you.  You were a fussy baby.  Your mother almost died giving birth to you.  YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE HERE!"

Elsa burst into tears. "Dada no be mad at me.  I sorry!"

Elsa's father stood up and walked towards Elsa, cornering her.

"Dada.."

Her father hit her making Elsa scream.

"No!  No!  I sorry please no more hurt!"

Elsa's mother walked out and saw her daughter screaming and crying in pain.

"Mama help please!" Elsa sobbed and begged her mother, but her mother stood there silent.

She watched until her father was finished.  He then left the house and Elsa laid in the corner holding her doll to her chest and crying, balled up on the ground.

Elsa wiped her tears and sniffled. "That's the earliest memory I have.  That's when things changed.. my world was.. so scary.  Every single day.  I didn't know what to do.  Sometimes all I would do is stay in my room and keep to myself.. yet I was still treated badly."

"Elsa.. I don't even.. have words.  I'm so sorry."

"It's okay.  Now I'm a mom and.. I just can never imagine treating my babies the way I was treated."

"They're lucky to have you.  You love them so much.. I wish you had the same when you were younger.  Even now.  I know how incredible it is seeing my mom hold my children.  I'm sure you'd like to show them off to yours."

"I would like that.. if things were different."

"So what happened?  How did you get away from them?"

"I left the house when I was fourteen."

"Wow!"

"I was homeless.  I would steal food.. I hated doing it, but I had to eat."

It pained Jimmy to hear all Elsa went through.

"Elsa, fourteen?  You were a baby!"

"I grew up fast.  When I was sixteen I met a man.." Elsa looks down and tears up. "He took care of me and I worked for him."

"What kind of work did you do?"

"I.. I did favors for him."

"Favors?"

".. Sexual favors."

Jimmy sighs. "Els."

"Jimmy, I told you I've lived enough for two lifetimes."

"Wow.."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you.. it's just too hard for me to talk about."

"No, I understand that!  Don't apologize."

".. Are you ashamed of me?  Am I.. too dirty?"

"Stop it.  No!  You're not dirty, Elsa."

Elsa's eyes traveled the table.  Tears filling her eyes she took a deep breath and spoke. "I was never wanted.  I was never loved.  I was used for years.  Then there was you.. and you.." Elsa's voice cracks. "You really really love me."

"I do.  More than anything."

"And my babies." Elsa chokes up. "With you and them.. I have everything.  I'm finally loved.  I'm finally happy.  I'm not alone anymore!"

Jimmy moved beside her and took Elsa in his arms.

"I'll love you forever.  I want to take away all of the pain you've ever felt."

Elsa cries and holds him tightly. "You already have." She says in a whisper.

Jimmy breathed deeply, taking in her beautiful scent.

"Let's go home, Jimmy.  I need you."

"What about the triplets?"

"We can pick them up after we're done so we don't get interrupted."

Jimmy smiles and takes Elsa's hand.  The two run out of the restaurant and Elsa laughs.

"Jimmy!  Did we just leave without paying?"

"Oops!  Well.. Stars never pay." Jimmy says with a wink.

Elsa laughs and jumps up, lifting her legs.  Jimmy carries her to the car and Elsa giggles uncontrollably.
