A few years had passed. Me and Tsumiki had been living with Satoru for 6 years now, so I was 13, Tsumiki was 15, and Satoru was 24. During that time period, nothing much had changed.
Well, actually that wasn't completely true. There's was one thing that changed over time. And it was my feelings for Satoru.
They intensified.
To the point where I don't think it was a simple crush anymore. Not like how it was when I first moved in and I was 7 years old. The feelings grew over time, slowly but surely.
I was legitimately and completely in love with him.
"Megumi-chan! I got you something!"
I was taking a nap on the couch when his voice woke me up. He was walking towards me, looking all cheerful and excited. I sat up so I could see him.
He sat down on the couch beside me, clearly hiding something behind him.
"Guess what I got you?" He asked me.
I wiped the tiredness away from my eyes. "What is it? If it's that maid outfit again I told you I'm not wearing it!"
Satoru just laughed. "It's something different this time. Take one more guess," He egged me on.
I thought about it. Knowing him, it would either be something really expensive or something really weird. There was really no in between with him. "Either a rubber chicken or a Louis Vuitton bag."
"Good guess, but nope! It's something even better than those." He took out the present from behind him. It was a small, black box. I just stared at it.
"Well, open it!" He urged me. I opened it, and inside revealed two bracelets. Both made from what looked to be pure gold, probably 24k, knowing him. There was a small plate on both of them, with a tiny diamond on the side. The plates also had an engraving. One of them said my name, and the other one was engraved with his.
I looked at it in awe. I already told him that I didn't like jewelry, but this was different. I was pretty much speechless.
"Is this for me?" I asked him. "And for you?"
He nodded. "Matching bracelets for us! Do you like it?" He asked.
"Yeah," I responded. "It's really pretty," I admitted, still in awe at how beautiful they looked.
He took the bracelet with his name engraved on it and placed it on my wrist. "This one's for you. So that whenever you look at it it'll remind you of me," he winked, causing me to turn a little pink. He placed the other one on his wrist. "And this one's for me. Whenever I look at it, I'll think of you. Not that I don't already think of you all the time."
I couldn't think of anyway to respond to his weird affection so I just said, "Mmm," like I always do. He pressed a kiss to my cheek. And then to my lips.
I was still shy and a bit awkward when it came to affection, because, well, I couldn't help it, that's just how I was. But I grew to be more accepting of it. Especially since I was really comfortable around Satoru now.
But I still didn't know how to feel about it. Especially since I would sometimes overhear the house servants say some weird rumors about him, particularly his love life. That he was a heartbreaker, and he had a nasty streak where he played with people and left them in the dust.
I've asked him about his love life before, but he never told me anything, and he never brought home anyone, so I just assumed that it didn't exist, and maybe, just maybe, I had a chance. But those weird rumors about him made me a little wary.
"Satoru, you always go overboard." I said. But I hugged him, and he put his arms around me and hugged me back.
"Only the best for you, Megumi-chan." He pressed another kiss to the crown of my head.
✾
This time I was eating food with Tsumiki at the dining table when he called out my name again. "Megumi-chan guess what, I have a present for you!"
I rolled my eyes. "What is it this time?" I asked him.
Tsumiki pouted. I glanced over at her and realized that I really did get the special treatment. It wasn't that Satoru never got her gifts, because he did. He just got me way more. To the point where I felt bad for her and talked to him about it once. But he kept doing it. Like now.
Satoru was holding a giant box, wrapped in a dark blue ribbon. "Well, go on, open it!" He encouraged me. I got up, walked towards him, undid the ribbon, and opened the lid.
It was a...a giant stuffed frog with wings. I took it out of the box and hugged it against me. To be fair, I wasn't really surprised. I looked down at the price tag that was still attached to the frog's wings. It was ¥ 90,000. I still wasn't surprised. Of course he would get me a stuffed animal that was expensive enough to pay someone's college tuition.
He lifted me up in the air and spun me around, hugging me while I hugged the frog. "Do you like it?" He asked. "A frog angel for Megumi-chan, who is my little angel." He kissed my forehead.
I blushed a little. "Yeah, I do." Which made him smile and made him spin me around again a few times. It wasn't really the gift itself that made me blush, it was the fact that he called me his angel.
Aside from Megumi-chan he would always give me different nicknames. Sweet prince, angel, beautiful boy, cutie pie, light of my life. And although cheesy, I absolutely loved it. It was nice to feel adored by Satoru.
He tossed me in the air a few times, probably just to flex his strength, and then held me in a princess carry. Then he turned towards Tsumiki. "Hey, how about all three of us go to Saito tonight for dinner?" He suggested.
"Yeah, sure!" Tsumiki took him up on his offer.
"Then that's that." He placed me back down onto the chair and sat across from me and Tsumiki.
Even though it was the middle of the week and there was nothing particularly special going on, he casually suggested taking us to a 5 star, Michelin awarded restaurant that had food that could cost you a television.
But again, wasn't surprised. He always did stuff like that. He spoiled me and Tsumiki, well mostly me, absolutely rotten. He'd give us the most outrageous and expensive gifts, and take us out to the most expensive places.
I remember the gifts he'd given me over the years. A pet owl. Running shoes autographed and used by former professional athletes. Expensive bags, whether it was from Gucci, Birkin, or Burberry. And a lot of clothes, for both me and Tsumiki. He liked to dress us up. But he always made me wear the princess outfits.
And even if I told him to tone it down sometimes, he never would. But I didn't complain too much, since it made me happy being showered by his affection.
Something's never changed. When I was 7 years old he was a bunch of trouble, and that never changed up until now. Satoru was still a handful. But he was my handful.
Well he wasn't technically mine. Yet. One day, if only he could be.
