Eighth Slice

"Left Lee, I have a question for you." You spoke with the nickname from before, just now landing on the shores of the archipelago. You slowly took a look at the land with the many bubbles floated around.

"Eh?" Luffy adjusted the heavy bag on his back, looking around and reminiscing about the time two years ago. Pacifistas, admirals, celestial dragons, supernovas, it was a mess. So many fights and as warned by many, there was no chance of winning against an admiral at the time. If it wasn't for Rayleigh, or Kuma, the Straw Hats surely would have been eliminated, not scattered across the seas.

"Is there anything I need to do for the crew to accept me?" You heard, from your soon to be captain, about the interesting mixture of people aboard as crew mates of the Straw Hat pirates.

"Heh? Why would that matter? Your joining because I said so."

"No... I mean, well... Is there anything I shouldn't do or are there any rules in the crew..." You mind started to drift, slowly realising that the subject of normal pirates was unknown to your knowledge.

"If you want rules, join the marines but I want you on the crew so you can't." The boy huffed with the stubbornness of a child expecting you to do as told, somewhat going against the whole rule talk.

"Silly. I'm not joining the marines. I'm just nervous okay. So there isn't anything you can think of to make a good impression?"

Luffy mentioned a way to greet the crew, due to you being entranced by his childlike charm, you listened to his every word even when he spoke with a wide grin that spelt no good.

"I'm going to go see Right Lee really quickly before we set sail, okay?" You asked Luffy, keeping the nickname that sort of stuck but the boy never really noticed anyways.

"Whatever but Hammock said not to get caught." He quickly offered you his weird fake glasses, nose, and mustache set disguise.

"Oh... I think I should be reminding you that. Don't worry about me." You sighed, having to take cars of the boy. "Where was the ship docked at?"

      "Ahhhh...."

"You know... I'll ask Right Lee instead."

Luffy started to then laugh, likely because of his own stupidity. You left in a small hop, following a vivre card of Rayleigh's that was split from Luffy's original one. The old man was soon found wandering the Archipelago, near a place called Shakky's Rip Off Bar.

        "Right Lee!"

Rayleigh easily spotted you as he smiled towards your chipper personality at the moment.

"Well look at this. I was just searching for your captain. Oh, I mean soon to be captain." The man let out a chuckle.

"Also future pirate king." You slyly remarked, believing in Luffy, being fully sucked into following the boy like many others have before.

"Yes, we certainly can't forget that now can we?" He couldn't help but be amused by Luffy's future crew mate believing in their soon to be captain, not in a mocking way, more of a relatable way.

"Were you looking for the goofball to see him off?"

"Yes but, not exactly. You see there has been a group of impostors pretending to be the Straw Hats. If things got out of hand, marines would likely be called into the scene. He can handle himself but that's not a very good send off, now is it?" Silvers Rayleigh, this goes to show he was none other then the Dark King Rayleigh, right hand to previous the pirate king. Always able to think ahead and reasonably predict things. "And what brings you here?"

"Well you know, wanted to give you a few choice words." You spat out the words, as if full of confidence.

"Oh and what might those be?" The man lightly teased you.

"Just making sure you don't keel over until the next pirate king takes his place on the throne. Until then you will always be Right Lee." Luffy's childish attitude was certainly rubbing off on you.

"I look forward to it."

"I have to go meet my future crew. Where is the ship at?" You asked, nearly forgetting as you almost took off without doing so,

Rayleigh stood in thought for a few seconds, humming while thinking.

"I seem to recall it being at grove 41. Unless it somehow moved after I coated it."

"Thanks, I guess I'll see you later then."

Two years ago, you met Rayleigh, only knew him for a few days until another two years until you saw him again. Somehow, since your chances of seeing him are much slimmer, you saddened a little with departing even with conversations being as brief as they were.

"I hope to see you again but, alongside the new pirate king." He spoke, going off of the determination you had for Luffy being the next pirate king.

"Trust me, you will." You look back with a large smile, only to run off and to not look back.

After many times of asking for directions, much to your dismay with the confusing set of groves within the archipelago, even being numbered, you reached grove 41. In the water was a ship designed with the figurehead of a lion, a simple and almost childish looking one. Some people were already wandering the deck. It was time to be brave now. From Marineford, to Impel Down, to the time even before, you had no reason to ever be nervous again yet, somehow you stand here, knees slightly shaking.

"It will be official soon, I hope you are as prepared as you say you are."
