Healing

Half Moon

I wake up, my heartbeat slamming in my head.

I try to move, but my muscles were so sore.  And I was too weak.

I feel something soft on my back.  It felt like a bed.

My body felt like it was being pumped with lead.

A metal hand was about to touch my wing.

I swipe my claws at them, cutting into thier palm.

I don't want to get hurt anymore.

The hand quickly pulls away, and I try to scooch away as much as I could.

My back hit a bar.  It was ment to keep me from falling off the bed, but it felt like it was there to keep me trapped.

My spine ignites into flames, my legs and arms following not long afterwards.

I look up, and about five metal people are surrounding me, the smallest one at least 15 feet tall.

I scoot back in fear, not knowing if they were here to hurt me.

My right hip suddenly feels like someone stabbed me.

I grit my teeth, looking at my torso.

  I was bandaged.

  They helped me.

I look at the red and white metal person, a scratch left behind by my claws left on his palm.

"Where am I?  Who are you?" I ask fearfully, looking up at the tallest one.

  The tallest one steps closer.

  I scoot away a little.

I still don't know if I can trust them.

He stops coming forward and kneels beside me.

"We are autonomous robotic organisms from the planet Cybertron.  Also known as Autobots." He responded, his voice very deep.

I recognize that voice.  It was the same voice I heard before I blacked out.

"How did you find me?" I ask, my body calming.

"A distress signal came up.  We thought you were an Autobot." The red and white one replied, looking a little annoyed.

"I'm sorry for clawing you." I apologize, and he seems to accept it.

"What happened to you?  You took a nasty beating." The smallest asked, her body mostly blue but with a little pink.

I explained what happened, sometimes pausing to accept a shock of pain.

The red and white one takes the largest one to the side, and they start talking.

I had a feeling it was about me.

I had noticed children behind the metal people.

Two were the boys I had seen earlier, and one female, who I recognized from seeing her in the air.

  They stare at me, baffled.

The oldest teen looks at me with understanding, the smallest looking at me with pity.  The girl looked at my wings in awe.  I could tell she wanted to ask me questions.

I flash a smile at them, moving back to the way I was before I started scooching away.

Pain rockets through my body, forcing me to wince and grit my teeth.

The medic comes back over to me, a scanner popping up on the side of his arm.

I stay still while he does my full body scan, waiting for him to be finished.

I try moving my wing, but both are sore beyond belief.

All my minor scratches heal themselves in less than a minute, the medic glancing at me with surprise.

"How did you do that?" He asks, the others staring at me.

"I heal pretty fast.  I have no control over it." I reply, shrugging.

I get introduced to the others as the medic looks over my body scan.

Bumblebee, Optimus, Arcee, Bulkhead and Ratchet.  The humans were Raf, Jack and Miko.  I can rattle off thier names in no time.

"What's your name?" Miko asks me, getting close to the gurney to get a good look at me.

"Half Moon.  You can just call me Moon, though.  Or Gracie.  Whatever's easiest." I shrug, watching her eyes light up.

"Why Gracie?"  She asks, a whole barrage of questions coming at me.  Like how fast I could fly, things like that.

I found it kind of funny how she was so curious.  She was like me in away, just a little more annoying.

As time passes, I feel stronger.

I swing my leg over, then the other following.

I shrink my wings into my shoulderblades to keep them out of the way for the time being.

I grip the bars on either side of of me, slowly letting all my weight go onto my feet.

Ratchet protested at first, but let me do it in the end.

My legs were still numb from hanging from those chains for too long, and I stumbled a little.

Arcee came over, putting her hand out for balance.

I took her hand, not wanting to be rude and not accept her help.

When my skin and her metal touch, power fills my body.

I feel my feet leave the ground.  All my pain fades away, my vision going white.

I saw what happened when the war for Cybertron started.  Saw when Megatron rose to power.  I saw so many innocent lives lost.  I saw the planet once brimming with life dead, just hanging in the cosmos.

  I saw everything.

When my vision goes back to normal, my body is fully healed.  My wings are fully healed.

No blood.  No bruises, no cuts or scrapes.

Everyone is staring at me, confused.

"How did you..." Ratchet stammers, looking shocked.

I was just as confused.  "I have no idea.  I just remember seeing white, and all these memories... I don't know why I'm fully healed, either."  I just stare at my hands, not knowing what else to do.

  What happened?

I put my hair up, a habit of mine when I'm curious or nervous.

  Miko points at me.

"What's that on the side of your neck?" She asks, looking a little confused.

  "That?  It's just a..." I freeze.

I realize that my birthmark was the same symbol that the bots had.

  "A what?" Miko asks.

"I thought it was a birthmark. Apparently it's something else." I reply, turning my neck up so the others could see.

  Optimus frowned.

"How long have you had that symbol?" Optimus asks, his tone suggesting he was concerned.

"My whole life." I reply, and he nods a little, glancing to the side.

"Is my birthmark why Starscream took me?"

"How do you know his name?" Ratchet asks, his eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"I don-" I choke on my words, remembering I got shocked every time I said them.  I shiver.

"Are you alright?" Optimus asks, a little worried.

I nod. "I'm just remembering. Everything." I snarl underneath my breath, wanting to change the subject. "How do you think he found me?"

I sit back down. My legs had started to shake again.

"He might have picked up your signal, thinking you were one of us." Arcee shrugged, hand on her hip.

I nod. Had I made it easier for people to find me?

All strength I omce had drains out of me instantly, my major wounds opening again, my wings breaking.

I buckle over, tempted to scream.

Ratchet helps me lay down, and he cleans my wounds some more.

After he is done, I help him organize the bone structure of my wing.

He makes makeshift casts of scrap metal for my wings, fastening them to the bridge of my wing.

"No flying until those are healed." He scolds me, shaking his finger at me with a slight scowl.

I nod. I couldn't move my wings anyway.

I remember Nightshade. He would be looking for me.

A loud, slow beeping sound comes from some sort of hidden speaker, a green light fading in and out.

Ratchet types something in, and the noise stops.

The kids go up to a tier with a TV and start playing a video game, Bumblebee and Bulkhead going over to watch.

I hear an elevator open, and a man in a suit steps out.

  Agent Fowler.

We had met once or twice before, but he was familiar with my kind.

He looks down at me from the railing, looking a little steamed.

I want to salute, do something out of respect.

But I can't. My body was too stiff.

He storms down the steps, yelling "What is she doing here?!" At Optimus.

"Are you familiar with her?" Optimus asks, stepping to the side.

"Yes, I very well know her!  What is she doing here?" He responds back, pinching the bridge if his nose.

"She sent out a distress signal. We followed it." Arcee replies, arms crossed.

She likes things short and to the point.

Fowler looks at my broken body and sighs, shaking his head.

"Come on. I'll take you home." Fowler says, trying to sit me up.

"She is in no condition to move." Ratchet scolds, trying to reason with him.

I sit up anyway, slowly getting on my feet.

Ratchet growls to himself, turning around angrily.

Fowler helps me up the steps, and I have to grip the railing to keep me upright.

We step in the elevator, and we go up.

"How did you get here?" He asks, calmed down.

"Starscream." I reply, my mood a little sour.

He nods, taking me up to the roof.

He helps me to the edge, and I sit down.

  I smile. "Thanks, Fowler."

"Your welcome. Sure you'll be okay on your own?"

I nod.  "I've been alone for a while. Nightshade should be looking for me, too."

Fowler nods, going back to the elevator.

"I'm honored to meet you agaim, Half Moon."

"Please, just call me Moon. No need to be formal." I reply, smiling.

He chuckles, the elevator door closing.

I lay back, my spine still sore.

The breeze cools me down, calming me.

Seeing the moon makes me calm down more.

I whistle for Nigtshade and fall asleep.
