Anti talked with Raf the whole time, but I didn't mind.

I thought it was sweet how well he got along with the other kids.

Here's to hoping that some of Miko's habits don't rub off on him.

Like running into the groundbridge to see a few cons.

The kids had a little racing competition with thier toy cars, swerving and drifting them all around everyone's feet.

Ratchet thought it was annoying, almost stepping on Raf's car.

Everyone cheered, and I swear I could see a small twitch form at Optimus' lips.

He was trying not to smile.

After the kids had gone home, I wanted to go up to the roof.

Anti was passed out on the couch, tired from a whole day of playing games and hiding around the base from the bots, playing hide and seek.

Nightshade stays next to Anti, his head on Anti's chest.

I head up to the elevator, sitting on the edge, staring at the sky.

I hear the elevator slide open again, but the bot sized one.

  I hear Bee's steps.

I look behind me anyway, and it's Smokescreen.

I was usually really good at determining footsteps.

Well, they are the exact same size.

He kneels next to me, looking over the edge.

"How are you not scared of heights?" He asks, backing away a little.

I twitch my feathers a little, smiling.

"Oh." He says, shaking his head.

I just stare at the sky, at the moon, at the stars. At it all.

I think back to today when we were scouting.

"Thanks for blocking that shot earlier." I say, glancing at him.

He looks a little taken aback. "Er...  You're welcome.  Thanks for blocking that other shot, too."

I chuckle.  "Would've helped if I knew you had the phase shifter on you."

He looks down at the ground.

"You took it again without asking, didn't you?"

He cracks a nervous smile. "No idea what you're talking about."

I roll my eyes and laugh a little.

An idea sparked in the back of my head.

I grew to his size, standing up and holding out my hand.

  He gets up, confused.

  "Are you scared of heights?"

He looked down and shook his head.  But I saw it in his eyes.  He was a little scared.

  "Do you trust me?"

His eyes flicked up at me, nodding.

"Take my hand and shut your eyes, if you really trust me." I say, holding out my hand again.

He is hesitant, but takes my hand anyway.

I make a rune that will make him weigh almost nothing, and fly on his own.  When I'm near him, of course.

  We walk to the edge.

He follows, his eyes still shut.

■ "On the count of three, jump as high as you can, straight up."

"One...  Two..." I felt his hand grip tighter.

"Three!" He screeched, finishing off the countdown.

He jumped as high as he could, which gave me the chance to catch up to him, dragging him behind me.

When I get to a good altitude, I smooth out, his body out to the side.

He is on his belly, just like me.

  "You can look now."

He slightly opens his eyes, and he looks down.

He smiles. "This is awesome!" He screeches, wiggling around in excitement.

"Wanna have some real fun?" I ask, smirking.

He looks at me and nods.

  "Let go."

He looks at me with shock, but he doesa anyway, making sure I am right beneath him.

  "Ready?"

He nods, looking down at me, all the fear gone from his eyes.

I turn belly-up, grabbing one of his arms and shooting up, spinning as we went.

"We're rising." I sing, remembering a human song.

  He looks at me funny.

I close my wings, causing a small freefall, my head towards the ground.

"Were falling" I sing again, a little louder.

I twist and corkscrew, still in a dive.  "We'll make it through!" I sing, higher pitched.

"We're climbing! We're soaring!" I say, going in a steep incline.

"A thousand views!" I sing, suddenly stopping while keeping my body in the way of all the stars behind my back.

I move out of the way, the stars twinkling in his eyes.

I open my wings, just enough to stay in the same position.

"Something's gonna bring a change, journeys we all meant to take." I sing softly this time, watching his eyes stare at the full sky filled with stars.

He looks at me from the side, and somersaults backwards.

I am being dragged by him now, the rune I put on him now being used to its full potential.

I close my wings, my body being compressed by my feathers.

He turned and twisted, tossing me upwards.

Be was surprisingly good at this.

If I didn't know better, he had sime extra practice

I wait for him, and whoops, shooting up high above me.

I feel my wing pinch and cramp with every stride.  It gets to the point where they almost lock up.

I yelp in pain, trying to stay steady.

My wings go slightly out of sync with one another, not remembering where the center of my balance was.

"What's wrong?" He asks, lowering down to my level.

"I might have to land, like now." I say, opening a portal and going through.

Smokescreen followed, ending up on the roof next to me.

I land awkwardly, my wings glad to have rest.

They start shaking, going numb.  First the right, then the left.

I drop to my knees, my wings weighing me down, losing all the feeling in them both.

"You okay?" Smokescreen asks, eyes worried and about to help me up.

I nod. "Just overworked myself, is all.  I just need to stay on my feet for a little while."

"Okay." He says, going back downstairs and leaving me alone.

I follow him, having to prop up my wings with my hand to keep them off the ground.

That was a first.  They would sometimes go numb, but I would still be able to keep them off the ground.

What was the exception this time?

I go into the elevator, still propping them up with my hands.

Anti is still passed out on the couch, but Nightshade's head is on the floor.

I sit beside on the floor next to the couch, next to Nightshade while brushing hair out of Anti's face.

Nighyshade sniffs my hair lovingly, nuzzling my neck and lifting a wing.

I cuddle into him, shrinking my wings and holding one of Anti's hands.

Anti stirs a little, and I feel his fingers curl around mine tightly.

He slinks off the couch, sliding into my arms, burying his head into my neck.

I pull him close, stroking his hair.

Nightshade puts his wing over us, keeping all of us together.

Anti curls into me, crying silently, his body creating little tremors.

I try calming him, but I eventually start crying, too.

I can't stand to see him sad.  I can't stand to see him like this.

It makes me feel like I failed him. I didn't protect him.  I couldn't give him what he wanted.

I sqeeze him tighter, and he puts his arms around my neck, still crying.

We both hug one another till we all pass out.
