Roots
Moon
We had picked up on a signature. Energon.
Optimus had made a team of me, Arcee, Bulk, and Screeny to go check it out.
We needed more. Badly.
The groundbridge led us to a forest area, but the trees were spaced out enough for all of us to move freely.
Anti and Miko tagged along, both riding Bulkhead's shoulders.
I wasn't wearing my armor. But I did have my daggers and necklace if needed.
Smokescreen had the scanner.
The beeping got more frequent as we went north.
"Two klicks north is an energon signature. Lets go." He said, transforming and squealing off.
Arcee and I both shook our heads, going after him.
I heard Bulk's engine behind us.
Something didn't seem right.
Something about these woods put me on edge.
I knew what it was.
"Smokescreen! Stop!" I scream, and he stops, his brakes squealing.
Arcee and Bulk stop, too.
"What's wrong?" He asks, transforming.
"We have to get out of here. Now."
"Whoa. Calm down. What's wrong?" Arcee asks, also transforming.
"Ratchet. Open a groundbridge." I say, and static responds. "They're scrambling our signal."
The screen of the scanner glitches and cuts out.
I try opening a portal, but my power locks up.
I hiss in fear. "We have to get out of here. Now."
"That's right."
I look all around, and Knockout is hiding in the shadows, at least thirty drones behind him.
My fear escalates.
More drones slam into the ground, surrounding us completely.
I take out my armor, clutching both my daggers.
Bulkhead transforms, putting both kids behind his foot.
I grew to Smokescreen's size, my body tense.
All the drones start shooting at once, most of the fire at me.
It deflects off my armor harmlessly.
I go behind Bulk, protecting the kids.
I got slammed into Bulk, one of the drones body-checking me into him.
We both fall back, the kids exposed.
"MAMA!"
I get up as quickly as I could, the others firing desperately.
Miko was there.
Anti wasn't.
Knockout was speeding away.
"NO!" I scream, taking off after him.
A root grabs my ankle.
I keep struggling, and the root snaps.
Everyone was busy with killing the drones. Which they do in a few seconds flat.
I was about to take off, but another root grabs my ankle, tripping me.
I fall trying to unwind it. All it does is hold me tighter.
I snap it, but another one grips both wrists.
A fatter one winds around my waist.
I keep struggling, the bots trying to rip them off me.
They grow tighter and tighter.
I feel a burst of power in me.
It could be a fifty-fifty shot whether or not it would work.
I take that chance, a wave of power disentigrating the roots.
It also knocks back Arcee, her fingers digging into the dirt to keep her from flying back.
I shoot out faster than a bullet, the bots's engines behind me.
No. Nononononononononono..... No....
I see his red paint job.
I keep getting closer to him, and he kept accelerating.
He was toying with me.
I had enough of his games.
I will get my son back.
I use my power to grab his fender, ripping him backwards towards me.
He keeps flipping out of control in the air towards me.
I phase through his door, grabbing Anti from a tangled mess of seatbelts.
"Just hang on. I've got you." I say, holding him by the waist.
He is welded to my neck, his legs around my stomach.
I keep forcing myself forward, bursting out of the woods to where the other bots were.
"I've got him." I wheeze, almost crash-landing.
I was exhausted. I had used too much if my energy on trying to catch up with Knockout.
I stagger, holding his head close to my chest.
"Im not letting you go... It's okay... I've got you...." I say, my arms shaking with shock and his weight.
"Mama.... Mama..." He cries, his arms crushing me, even though I had my armor on.
Knockout steps out of the treeline, looking very angry.
"Go! Take Miko!" Bulk says, telling Miko to get out from behind his foot.
Miko runs to me, and I grab her hand.
I use my power to create a portal to base, dragging Miko behind me.
A red blaster shot flies past my head.
I tuck Miko underneath my arm, sprinting into base.
I gently put them down, Miko comforting Anti.
I charge back through the portal before I can change my mind about leaving them.
I shut the portal behind me so neither of them can follow.
More drones.
Knockout has yet another lightning rod.
He sees me, his face in a deep snarl.
He charges towards me, roots pinning me to a tree.
He jabs the electricity into my stomach, making my muscles sieze up.
He just keeps it there.
I don't scream.
I just glare at him with dark eyes.
I reverse the current, sending the shock into him.
He jumps back as the electricity crawls up the rod.
He gets knocked out by Smokescreen.
I use the electricity left on my armor to shock off roots holding me.
The rest of the cons were left smoldering.
"Everyone alright?" I ask.
They all nod.
I see a strange object in the dirt.
I go over to it, taking the scanner from Smokescreen.
I was on top of the device. But the scanner said we were on top of an energon deposit.
"We were baited." I say, tossing the scanner to Arcee, digging up the device.
We took out the device, testing if it was the source of the signal.
Luckily, it wasn't.
We found a few more crystals, but they were small.
Just piled on top of one another. We were baited.
Even though the crystals were small, it was still better than nothing.
I open a portal back home.
Anti was holding onto Miko for dear life.
I silently went up the stairs.
I folded my armor back up into the chain.
I put my arms around his back, pulling him into my chest.
He spun around, his arms around my neck.
"It's okay... You're safe now... I've got you... I won't let you go... I've got you..." I say, my wings around him.
He puts his Gliders around me, underneath my wings.
"Mama.... He scared me... He told me I would never see you again..."
I look him dead in the eye.
"I will always come save you. No matter what."
Anti's lip quivers. "I'll save you, too, Mama."
A piece of paper appears in my hand.
I look at it, and it was my request for a child and the rights to adopt Anti.
Both were accepted.
I was now pregnant, and Anti was now officially my son, though I never thought otherwise.
Now, how to tell everyone?
