Healing

Half Moon

I wake up, still dizzy. I groan in pain.

I try and move but all my muscles are sore.

I am on a much more comfortable gurney, with metal people and three humans surrounding me.

I jump, not expecting the humans or several massive metal people.

"Easy. You don't want to reopen those wounds." A voice says. It sounds deep and commanding, but somehow comforting.

My vision gets better, but I feel like my body is pumped full of lead.

I try sitting up, and both my wings shoot pain up and down my whole body.

I yelp, not expecting the sudden pain.

I breath through my teeth and lay back down.

I touch my hand to my stomach, and when I put my hand up to my face, it is covered in my own silver blood.

A metal person with white and red all over them is standing over me, checking me. Most likely a medic.

I see the black and yellow figure I saw picking me up, and they tilt thier head towards me, confused.

"You took a nasty beating. What happened?" A female metal person said, her body mostly blue but with pink accents.

I told them all what happened, sometimes stopping to breath through my teeth from a sudden shock of pain.

The medic looks down at me with a suspicious look. He turns to the others. The medic pulls the red and blue one to the side and start talking.

The three humans at my side were all children. Two of them I recognized from earlier. But I had no idea who the girl was.

They stare at me, baffled. The smallest looks at me with pity. The teenager looks at me with curiosity. The girl looks at my wings in awe.

I smile at them and try and scooch up more, but pain ignites throughout my body. I whimper, but I bite down on my lip to stifle it.

The medic walks back over to me and helps me sit up.

"I need you to sit up so I can scan your bone structure." He says as I grit my teeth.

I know it will take only a little bit. Just a few seconds.

He scans my wing, and I realize I am already sitting up anyway, so I might as well stand.

I rub my head, my brain pulsing.

"Where am I? And who are you?" I ask, ignoring the painful numbness in my body.

"You are in our base. And we are Autobots." The leader says, introducing me to them all.

Optimus, Arcee, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, Ratchet, and the three humans, Raph, Jack, and Miko. I can rattle off thier names in no time.

"My name is Half Moon. You can call me Moon. Or Gracie. Whatever's easiest." I say, my spine aching from lying down for too long.

"Why Gracie?" Miko asks, curiosity filling in her eyes.

"It's my human name." I say, trying to stand.

My legs were still numb from hanging from those chains for so long. I stumbled a little, but Optimus held out his hand for balance.

I take his hand, and when I do, a surge of power overcomes me.

I feel my feet leave the ground, and all feeling of pain escape from my body. My vision goes white, and memories fly across my head. I saw when the war for Cybertron started. I saw when Megatron rose to power. I saw so many lost. I saw the planet once full of life dead, just hanging in the cosmos.

I saw everything.

When I come to, I am fully healed. No blood. Im not sore anymore. I look at my wings, and they are perfectly normal.

Everyone is staring at me. I can see why.

"How did you... What..." Arcee says, shaking her head.

"I have no idea. I just remember seeing white, and then all these memories... I don't know why I'm fully healed, either." I say, staring at my hands.

What happened?

I put my hair up, a habit that I have when I'm nervous or curious.

"What's that on the side of your neck?" He asks, pointing at the right side of my neck.

"That? It's just a..." I freeze

"A what?"

I look at Optimus, and at everyone else. They have the exact same symbol on themselves as my birthmark.

"I thought is was a birthmark. But apparently it's something else." I say, rubbing my neck.

I turn my neck upwards so everyone can see, and they all look confused. Optimus looks more concerned, though.

"Was that why I was taken by Starscream?" I ask, piecing it all together, like a giant puzzle with a million pieces.

"How did you know his name?" Ratchet asks, his eyes suspicious.

"I..." I choke on the words, remembering I got shocked every time I said them. I shiver.

"Are you alright?" Optimus says, his eyes worried.

I nod. "Just remembering. Everything." I growl underneath my breath. I decide to change the subject. "How did Starcream find me?" I ask, sitting back down when my legs had started to shake.

"I think he was following your signal, thinking you were one of us." Ratchet said, tilting his head towards a screen.

I nod. Was I an idiot and made it too easy for people to find me?

All the strength that I had instantly drained put of me. All my wounds came back, bleeding, and my wings went limp again, broken.

I buckle over, tempted to scream.

Ratchet helps me lay back down, and afterwards he finishes cleaning my wounds and wraps them up, but I have to help him reorganize my bone structure in my wing.

He makes a makeshift cast made of scrap metal and fastened it on the bridge of my wing.

"No flying until that is healed." Ratchet says after he finishes piecing the cast together.

I nod. I couldnt move any of my wings anyway.

After both casts are securely on, I remember Nightshade. He would be looking for me.

A loud, slow beeping sound comes from some sort of sensor.

Ratchet clicks some buttons and the loud noise stops.

The kids go up a level to where a TV and video game is on. They all grab a controller and start competeing.

I hear an elevator open, and a man step out. Agent Fowler. I had seen him once or twice before, but he was very familiar with my people.

He looks down at me. I want to salute, do something out of respect. But I can't move. My body is too stiff.

"What is she doing here?" He yells at Optimus, walking down the steps in a hurry.

"Are you familiar with her?" Optimus asks, stepping to the side of the raging officer.

"Yes, I very well know her! But what is she doing here?" He asks again, this time his voice calm.

"She sent out a distress signal, and we followed it." Arcee says, crossing her arms.

I can tell she likes things short and to the point.

Fowler sighs and rubs his face.

I look up at Optimus. "Can I ask you something?"

He nods.

"Is there any way to get to the roof? I don't like being inside for too long."

Before anyone can say anything, Fowler volunteers to take me up.

I get up, stumbling. But I regain my balance quickly. I refused any help from the others. I had to gain my strength on my own.

Me and Fowler get in the elevator and go to the roof.

"Are you sure you'll be alright up here on your own?" Fowler asks as he helps me out of the rickety elevator.

I nod. "I've been alone for a long time. Ill be fine for the night. Plus, Nightshade must be worried sick about me." I say as I sit on the edge of the large rock that was concealing the base.

I look down, and it is quite a ways up. But Im used to heights.

"Alright. Im honored to meet you again, Half Moon."

"Don't be formal, please. Sargent isn't around. You can call me Moon if it's easier for you." I reply just as Fowler goes back down the elevator.

He smiles. "Im glad you're not stuck up." He goes down the elevator, and I hear the rickety steel cables being him down.

I lay down, but my back is still sore. But I don't care. The small breezes are brushing through my feathers, making my body cool down.

I whistle for Nightshade and wait for 10 minutes. Nothing. 30 minutes. Nothing. 2 hours. Nothing.

I dig my fingers into the stone every minute I don't hear Nightshade. I am soon too tired to keep my eyes open.

He'll be back by morning. I'll wake up, and Nightshade will be next to me. I just have to wait until morning.

I fall asleep, hoping somehow sleeping will make the time go faster.
