Galaxies
Half Moon
She is still in my hand, glowing bright.
Nightshade was waiting for me on the roof.
When he spotted me, he came right over, making sure I was alright. Then he smelled Galaxy.
He sniffed the star in disbelief, then used his head to nuzzle into me.
He always knew what to do to make me feel better.
I wrap my arms around his nose, and kiss him.
"Thanks, buddy." I say, scratching his neck.
He snorts in reply, sitting on his hind legs.
I plop down next to him, and he lays down, head in my lap.
I stroke his ears, reminding me of soft velvet.
"Wanna help me find a good place for her?" I ask, making a dome of glass form over us.
He snorts and buries his head into my lap more.
I sigh, scratching his head again. I dont know what I would do without him.
I make the glass darken to black, and I think of her favorite galaxy.
Every one was her favorite. She loved them all. It didn't help much.
I thought of the Milky Way first, since that was the galaxy that I was in now.
The glass changed, forming an image of earth.
I zoomed outwards until I had reached the planet Neptune.
I analyzed the stars, deciding which ones to be around Galaxy.
She didn't deserve these stars. These stars would consume her beauty.
And the Empress wouldn't be too happy with a Moon angel in her galaxy, anyway.
I decide to go somewhere else.
I had never seen Cybertron before.
I thought about what Ratchet said. The whole planet was made of metal. So was its two moons.
I kept trying to imagine what it would look like, and the dome kept zooming outwards, until I counted five galaxies passing.
There is was.
Cybertron.
About ten times the size of earth, the planet had different ridges and markings, all covered in rust.
I saw the giant asteriods circling the planet like Saturn's rings.
I saw the two metal moons, mini versions of Cybertron.
It would have been beautiful, if it was still alive. Now it was just hanging dead and lifeless.
I decided it wasn't good enough for her.
She should be in a place where she could be happy. That isn't here.
I decide to go to the galaxy her and I always looked at when we hung out.
She always loved it when we found a new star. Found anything new, actually.
She would completely geek out when a meteor shower came.
I chuckle to myself a little, remembering the time when she geeked out so hard over a supernova that she literally fell over.
She would be happy here.
I hold her close to my heart, hoping she could feel it.
I pick a spot right over where we used to lay down and watch the skies change.
The stars were blue, purple, and green. All different sizes and colors, but they would keep her company.
They would watch over her.
I put her in my palm, scanning again for a good place for her.
I find a good spot, next to a few violet and green stars.
I look at her one last time before I place her among the stars.
I pinch my fingers on top of the star and slowly pull up.
A silk string comes out, invisible as a spider web.
It never ends. It just keeps reaching up into the black sky of the orb.
I place Galaxy where I want her, the silver silk reaching into the black of the sky.
She looks at peace. At home.
My goal is accomplished.
I lean against Nightshade, an arm beneath my cheek and my legs off to the side.
"Is that a worthy spot for her?" I ask him, looking into one of his amber eyes.
He looks up where I put her, and snorts, twitching his left ear.
That means yes.
I sniffle a little, hugging him.
He really is my best friend.
He turns his head, noticing I was crying.
He got up, sniffing me after he smelled the salty water touch the rock of the base.
Then he decided to tickle me.
He nuzzled my stomach and my neck, his soft whiskers tickling me.
I try to hold in my smile and chuckle, but he keeps going and I can't hold it in anymore.
I laugh a little, trying to block my stomach and neck.
"All right! You win!" I smile after his tickling became more persistent.
He always knew how to perk me up.
"Ya know what?" I say, standing and scratching his right flank.
That did it.
He melted to the floor in delight, and I jumped on him.
"Ha! Pinned ya." I grin, rubbing his fur.
He snorts, rolling over and pinning me down with just one wing
I huff. He always won. "Fine. You win." I grumble, accepting the defeat.
He snorts in my hair happily, realxing his wing as I snuggle closer to him.
I watch the galaxy shift and change, the stars twinkling in response.
But this wasn't normal.
The colors changed. Instead of a black sky, it lightened to grey.
That isn't right.
I sit up abruptly, realizing I had to fix this.
I stand, placing my hands on the glass.
This would hurt.
I place all my concentration on the glass, feeling my feet shift.
I get on my knees to save some of my strength.
I close my eyes, feeling them change to the color black.
I had to darken the sky. And fast.
She would be destroyed if this kept going.
I keep thinking to darken the sky, muttering all the ancient spells I could to keep me from collapsing.
At first, a steady stream of darkness was going into the galaxy, darkening it to black.
But it was fighting me. It kept battling to add more and more light to it.
I wouldnt allow it. Never.
I could feel the burning in my hands all the way down my spine as I kept adding darkness.
I could feel my head pulse with enchantments and spells that I had made too keep my eyes open.
As soon as it has started, it stopped.
My hands slid off the glass, my body shaking.
How long had I been doing that?
I was already exhausted.
I felt my eyes change back to thier normal color, and the glass orb around me cracked, disappearing.
I could feel my body shut down.
Everything went numb.
I could barely see.
I didnt care. I needed rest. I needed to fall asleep.
I could hear the nervous nickering of Nightshade, and I saw a pale figure come close to me.
I couldnt keep my eyes open anymore.
I could feel thier arms cradle me, lifting me off the ground. Arms tense and tight around me.
I could hear a voice, no, two.
I was so exhausted I couldn't tell who they were.
The arms carrying me relaxed a little.
I lost all consciousness.
