Fever

Moon

I find everyone in the main area, including the kids. Even Anti and Galaxy.

Galaxy looks ill. Her slim face is grey, and her short black hair is matted to her face. Her grey eyes are tired and saggy, and her jeans, shirt, and leather coat is drenched in sweat, even though she is shivering.

I run to her, and she almost falls over.

"Whats wrong?" I ask, watching her cough violently.

"Black Fever." She replied, coughing in her arm.

She moved her arm away, and black blood is spattered on the sleeve.

"Ill watch him. Get to a hospital. Alpha's orders." I say, opening a portal directly to Intensive Care.

She smiles as I help her through.

The doctors bring a gurney and cart her off to be treated a few doors down.

I walk back through and close the portal.

She'll be just fine. Those are the best doctors in the Realm. I think to myself, walking over to little Anti.

Anti gently hugs me and sneezes. He might be catching it, too.

"Is it contageous?" Jack asks, backing away slightly.

"Not for humans, no." I shake my head, putting the back of my palm to his forehead.

He isnt burning up. Which is a good sign. I still get him to drink a whole water bottle, though.

I walk up to the second level and sit on the couch with him, and he leans into me, exhausted. He passes out before Raf can show new software on his laptop.

I cradle him in my lap, making a chunk of ice form in my palm.

I place the ice on his forehead, just in case. He's too young to be catching Black Fever.

Raf is looking at the ice.

"Can you make snow?" He asks, hope sparking in his eyes.

I nod, still rocking Anti.

"I've never seen snow before." He said, a sense of longing in his voice.

"Hang on." I say, getting up and putting Anti down on my spot. "This is going to be cold, just a heads up." I say as I start.

"I know." He says, watching my hands.

My fingers twirl and spin slowly, taking the humidity from the air and freezing it.

I keep compacting the particles together until they are big enough to make snow flakes. Big, fat ones that you can easily catch on your tounge.

I hold them high above his head and let go.

They all drift down onto him, and I watch as he stares in wonder as he tries to grab a few.

I make sure they don't make his clothes wet, though.

Soon, Miko and Jack decide they want to join the fun, too.

Miko tries to stick out her tounge but keeps moving, so none end up in her mouth.

Jack just stares at it, hands out and feeling it touch his skin.

Raph is in awe, trying to catch some way too high for him.

Anti groans a little.

I stop making the snow fall, and cradle him in my lap again. I check his temperature.

He is getting warmer.

I feel my heart thump. If he caught the Black Fever this young...

I quickly make more ice and place it on his chest, forehead, and under his arms.

He eventually cools down.

I feel my heart slow, relaxing.

I continue rocking him as I keep making sure the ice doesnt melt.

"Is he-"

"Stars above!" I screech, jumping out of my seat, almost falling over.

Smokescreen looks confused.

"You scared me." I reply, climbing back into my seat.

"Told you I would get you back."

"Whatever." I scoff, sticking out my tounge and sit back down.

"Is he okay?" He asks, pointing to Anti.

"I dont know. He might have the Black Fever."

"It sounds like Yersenia Pestice."

"What's that?" Smokescreen asks, clearly no idea what it was.

"Yersenia Pestice. The Black Fever? The Black Plauge?" He asks, looking up from his computer screen, trying out his new software.

"Nerd Alert." Miko says, rolling her eyes.

"I remember that." I say, reverting back to my human school days. "But its definitely not that, Raf. It's more like a scaled up version of what you call a fever. And it's extremely dangerous for someone this young."

"Then why not take him to a hospital?" Ratchet asks, looking at me from the corner of his eye.

"I have to be sure it's not the Black Fever. It might just be one of his heat flashes." I reply, feeling his body cool off more.

It was just one of his heat waves. He was completely fine.

I just kept rocking him, glad he was okay.

He woke up a little while later and walked over to Raf, instantly curious about the new software.

Raf and Anti started talking about Pc's and building thier own computers and a whole lot of other techno-babble that I didnt understand.

"Sean likes games and computers, too. He plays on them all the time."

"Anti." I warn, giving him a glare.

"Sorry." He says, curling his lip inwards.

"Whos Sean?" Miko asks, not letting it slip.

"He has a human counterpart. He can decide if he wants to help his human, or torment him. Anti just decides to leave him alone entirely. Thats why he's bullied a lot." I say, watching him smile sheepishly.

"So, like a guardian?" Jack asks, arms crossed.

I nod. "Everyone has one. Only humans and animals, as far as I know."

Raf and Anti continue babbling on about techno stuff, but Miko started getting bored.

"Do some cool stuff." She said after a jam session with Bulkhead.

"Well, I can do a lot. You kind of have to be specific." I say, crossing my arms.

She taps her chin for a moment, and then I see the sparks fly in her eyes.

"Do something that would destroy a con."

"Completely?" I ask, realizing the tone of destruction in her voice.

She nods vigurously, giving me those puppy eyes.

I think for a moment. How tough is thier armor? How large are they? How good is thier aim?

I quit thinking about what they are and more like how to stop them.

"Fine. Just give me a few." I say, gliding down the steps and heading into the sparring room.

I walk in and plop myself down just beside the door.

I pull out a little piece of paper from my pocket. It doesnt look like much, but it is a complete encyclopedia of every spell there is known to Moon Angels.

The thing has over 100,000 pages on it. And each page has about 100 spells.

I fold the paper open, hotdog style, and do it a second time, hamburger style.

I put my hand over the top of the paper and pull up until I cant anymore.

It is as tall as my hip.

I grab on side and stretch it out a little, making it fatter and fatter.

I adjust it until it makes the perfect size for me.

I get on my knees and say; "Battle."

The pages flip until about a quarter of the way through.

I pick and sort, finding better and better ones after another.

Then, I found one that would be effective but non draining. It would be my first attempt, but it was simple enough.

I fold the book up so it would be small enough to fit in my pocket and rush out, giddy in excitement.

Miko runs down the stairs, excited.

"Got one?"

"Got one." I wink, leading the kids down to the sparring room.

Ratchet managed to find a thick metal slab that would be perfect for target practice.

He carried it in for me, which I was happy for, but he still seemed grumpy, like always.

I back away, about 20 feet. It should be enough.

I take one of my daggers out of my belt, accidentally cutting my finger in the process.

It didnt hurt at all. My blades were so sharp I just felt pressure.

I healed it real quick without anyone noticing.

I create a little spark of ice, just at my fingertips, making sure it works.

I get my blade into throwing stance, the position getting more like second nature.

I feel the ice spark rage, snap, and pop, waiting to destroy its final target.

I throw my dagger, releasing the crackling ice energy into the handle just as I let go.

The silver amplifies the ice spark, covering it in icy lightning by the time it hit the target dead on.

The blade sinks in up to the handle, the ice spreading like wildfire.

The metal groaned under the ice getting into every fracture and crevice it could imagine, crumpling to nothing.

I walk back over and pick up my dagger from the shards of ice and metal.

Miko shrieks. "That was awesome!"

I smile. "All in a day's work." I say, sliding my dagger back in my belt.

We all go back to the sofas and I get a comm from Galaxy. She was in recovery, pumped full of liquids. She wanted to see me and Anti.

She said she would have to stay in recovery until the weekend.

It was Wednesday.

I let Optimus know where I was headed, opened a portal and went straight to her room.

We walked down a few white tile halls before we found the dark blue curtain with the number 25 on a plaque beside the doorframe.

I open the curtain slowly, and she is passed out.

Anti tries to run to her, but I pull him back.

"You need to be gentle with her. She doesnt feel too well." I say, relaxing my grip on his wrist.

"Okay." He responds, walking over to his mother and holding her hand.

She opened her eyes and smiled weakly.

"Hey." She said, her voice scratchy and hoarse.

"Hey." I respond, walking over to the other side of her.

She coughed, black spattering the white sheets.

"Could you-"

"Yes." I cut her off.

I never minded watching Anti. But Ratchet might.

She smiled weakly. "I hate you."

"Hate you, too." I reply, letting her weakly punch me in the arm.

A few doctors came rushing in, urging me and Anti to leave.

"Half Moon, please, the child could catch it." One of the doctors said, ushering is out.

"Alright." I say before walking out with Anti's hand in mine.

"I hope momma gets better." He said, his eyes on the floor.

"And she will. Promise. For now, you're stuck with me for a few days." I smirk.

"Yay!" He giggled, skipping down the rest of the hallway.

I roll my eyes and smile.

I wish I had a kid that was just like him.

Just in general I want my own child. But I put in my request years ago.

I dont know how much longer I can wait.
