1 what inspired the idea of your story?

 A lot of the settings and events in this book is directly inspired by my student life growing up in Singapore. It was a very nostalgic journey writing this.

2 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?

 I struggled a lot trying to write authentic dialogues. I wanted to capture Singlish (Singaporean English) in the dialogues but it's difficult when I'm conditioned to write proper.

3 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?

 For sure the nostalgic factor!! It was fun revisiting my student life memories.

4 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?

 People seem to enjoy it? I think the ending is rushed, and some people have agreed about that to me too, so that is definitely something I will work on when I rewrite.

5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?

6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?

 That loving is so, so difficult sometimes, but it's worth it to hold on.

7 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?

I would say just write! Don't read back what you write over and over again, don't over-edit. Get that first draft down and then you can think about editing afterwards.

8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?

Absolutely. Chloe is very much like me, especially with her unsureness in her sexuality.

9 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?

I think this is a fresh take of a queer love story, and it is set in a very underrepresented setting that I try to portray as authentically as possible. 

10 do you have any future projects?

I am currently rewriting the story to prep it for the Wattys, and also crafting a few more sapphic romance stories. Exciting times to come!
