Title and Genre:
Rosalind – Paranormal
Summary:
In a land where snow has fallen for the past century, everyone longs for summer -- everyone but Rosalind Hershel who secretly finds joy in the icy chaos.
Because of a curse placed upon a cruel lord, nineteenth-century Transylvania has been suffering a hundred years of bitter cold and insurmountable death. Once master of the Borgo, Lord Caspian plants fear in whoever crosses his path. When a witch disguised as a beggar knocks at his door asking for charity, he brutally attacks her. The woman, hell-bent on revenge, turns Caspian into a hideous beast.
When Rosalind's father and brothers trespass on the Beast's property during a hunt, he captures and threatens to slaughter them for their crime. In order to save her family, Rosalind has to reason with him. For a month, she must reside in his dreary castle as his honored guest. In exchange for her companionship, the Beast will forgive her family's wrongdoing. Though she fears Lord Caspian and doesn't know what awaits her behind the castle walls, she agrees.
As time passes, Rosalind finds herself growing fonder of the abominable lord and the cold surrounding his land. The closer she gets to the secrets he keeps, especially of the mysterious stranger in the violin room, the more he awakens a darkness in her that threatens to destroy the person she once was, and all of Transylvania.
excerpt: (max. 150 words)
Lord Caspian's long sword rested at his side. His black attire appeared to be painted on showing off whatever curve God or the Devil had gifted him. Through cuts made at the shoulder blades of the black cloak dragging in the deep snow, his inky wings plumed forth. Though there was little light to illuminate Caspian's hair, it still shone silver. The spikes on his head were a crown fit for a cursed king.
Agnes' words fell over Rosalind. They were words the maid had told her the day she arrived. "Some of us are made rotten, some are born. I do not know where he sits, but if being an aberration of God's good name was a throne, he would be king."
