interview 3 A chat with @Kitsysune
1. When do you begin your writing routine? (morning, afternoon, day, evening)
I write on my days off, whenever that will be, usually in the evenings until late at night.
2. What do you need for your writing routine? (laptop, notebook, ect)
So the only thing that I truly need for my writing routine is my PC and google docs. I prefer using Microsoft word, but google docs is free, and I can work from my laptop or PC. Another thing that I tend to have at my desk when writing is a notebook for that specific story. I'm not a very organized person, but I need to be when writing. My notebook consists of small character details, concept art, maps, and info on the world.
3. What is your main focus, when you're working on a story?
To be able to write vividly enough that I can imagine the scene playing out in my head. I believe that if you are able to play out your scene in your head like a movie, just by reading through it, you're doing something right. I'm also very passionate about grammar, so I tend to be a stickler for good grammar.
4. What is something important you've come to learn, since you've begun writing?
I've been writing since I was a little child, barely able to type. I remember learning from my uncle how to write little short stories. I would spend all day writing out silly stories about dinosaurs on trampolines and rocketships that touched the gleaming stars above. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to learn to love your writing. There will be a many harsh critics and even sometimes haters that will break your spirit. As long as you enjoy writing and continue to learn, you will get better. As long as you have love for your projects, you will eventually find people who love it as well.
5. Do you believe having some sort of writing routine is helpful?
Most definitely! I think humans, as a whole, thrive from routines. Having a writing routine is extremely helpful by helping you keep a consistent upload schedule for your readers and keeps your writing organized and neat. Once your routine becomes more natural for you, you'll start to notice how much more efficiently you're working!
6. What is a writing strength of yours?
I think one of my strongest strengths is my imagery and descriptions. I love putting great detail into my stories to paint the most vivid imagery I can for my readers. From the feedback I've gotten, I believe I do quite a good job.
7. What is a writing weakness of yours?
I struggle with dyslexia, so sometimes when I'm writing, my brain scrambles my thoughts and some sentences just don't make any sense. I'll accidentally misplace certain words with others, but worse of all, I repeat words a lot. Usually, I edit out a lot of the repeating words, but sometimes I miss some.
8. Do you ever share your writing outside Wattpad (other social media platforms, family, friends)?
I've tried other writing platforms such as Royal roads, tapas, Inkitt. Wattpad has always been my go-to, though. I've recently started to branch out to other social media as well such as instagram and soon tiktok. Outside of the internet, I don't have anyone to share my writings with as most of the people I'm surrounded by aren't readers. They are supportive in their own ways, though!
9. What's a good piece of writing advice, when it comes to beginning a new story?
Honestly, this might not work best for everyone, but for me, I just jump right into it! When I first think of an idea for a story, I just start writing. Even if it doesn't make sense right now, I will go back and figure out a way to make it make sense. If I can't, well, I simply cut it out. Sometimes rose bushes need to be trimmed in order to flourish.
10. Who is an author you admire and why? (on or outside wattpad)
100% Stephen King. Why? Well, a lot of people admire him for his writing, and while I do love his works A LOT, I was more drawn to the man behind the pen. I read my first SK book in 2014 when I was a freshman in high school. I had written before this, but I never really had a passion for it until Stephen King's Doctor Sleep. I struggled with my mental health all throughout school, and I still do even up until this day, but SK was like a light in a darkened tunnel. I wanted to be like him, and thus my passion for writing was born!
11. Do you believe an author interacting with their readers is important?
Yes! 100% yes! If you're a writer reading this, you cannot become an author without your readers. Your readers are the peanut to your butter, so treat them kindly! It only takes five seconds to respond to a message from a fan on your board or to a comment. Obviously, once you become popular and the interactions flood your feeds, it can get overwhelming. Only you know how much you can handle, so treat yourself kindly as well!
12. How do you believe a writer can build a fanbase?
The most important element to building a fanbase in interacting with the engagement you get. When starting out, you'll have 0 fans. Interact with every comment, thank those who vote, reply to messages on your board. You will start making meaningful connections with your readers, and you'll notice your engagement increase and your fanbase will start to increase as well.
{Story overview}
Title: Princess Spoken For
Status: Ongoing Genre: Mature Romance / Historical Fantasy / NA
Summary:
Like the four points of a compass, there were four nations. Each named by the direction in which they faced. The northern nation was known as the prosperous and generous North, but that was naught but a pot full of' lies. In reality, the Northern King, Alexander, was ready to arrange a marriage between the lecherous western king and his 20-year-old daughter, Ariella.
However, after an embarrassing moment with a grotesque toad in her bathroom, Princess Ariella's life seems to tumble out of control, running ever faster down a hill. Agreeing to be a double agent for her father–thus agreeing to the marriage–Ariella tries to learn about the secretive western nation rumored to have beastly shape-shifting abilities. However, her new infatuation with the western crown prince might prove to be harmful to her plans. . .
Why should someone consider reading it?
With a fun twist of the tale "princess and the frog", there's a lovely blend of humor, drama, and romance in a fantasy setting. Each nation has elements of real life history integrated into their culture such as regency era elements for the North. I honestly believe there's a little bit for anyone to enjoy!
What inspired the overall idea of the story?
The old tale "the princess and the frog". The original, not the movie. However, I wasn't heavily inspired by it, so it's more like a hats off to the tale.
Is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series?
It is a stand alone novel, but I might make spin off novels for other characters! They will all be able to be read individually.
