interview #14 A chat with @DesReadsAndWrites

1. When do you begin your writing routine? (morning, afternoon, day, evening)

Usually in the evening, I usually get free time at night to write because I have school, but if it's in the summer time, it varies.

2. What do you need for your writing routine? (laptop, notebook, ect)

I usually use my laptop or a notebook, I usually listen to music while I write, it helps me focus. Sometimes I will write a chapter on paper other times I will type it.

3. What is your main focus, when you're working on a story?

My main focus when writing is I usually try to get the readers attention and if it's the ending to a chapter I like to leave it on a cliffhanger so they can't wait for the next chapter. I also try to let the readers Into the main characters head a little by telling you what they are thinking.

4. What is something important you've come to learn, since you've begun writing?

Most authors have had someone not like their stories and they will tell them that. I've learned to take the negative feedback with a grain of salt and mainly try to focus on the positive feedback.

5. Do you believe having some sort of writing routine is helpful?

Maybe for some people it is, but I don't really have a routine. I mostly write whenever I get an idea or have time to write. I've always had a little bit of a unique way of writing when I do. I sometimes will write the ending first after writing the first few chapters and then go back to the beginning and sometimes if I have an idea for a chapter that's focused more towards the ending then I will write it out and label it as a chapter idea.

6. What is a writing strength of yours?

Someone told me that a strength of my writing is that I tell the readers what the main character is thinking in depth. I had never realized that before. I always thought a strength of my writing was the details i put into a story about a character.

7. What's is a writing weakness of yours?

I feel like a weakness of mine when I write is that I have a more simple way of putting certain things and I feel like I don't go into that much detail in some parts of my writing.

8. Do you ever share your writing outside Wattpad? (other social media platforms, family, friends)

Yes, I post on Instagram and Reddit to promote my stories. On Instagram I will post if I have a new chapter or on Reddit I will post if I get a certain amount of reads or I will post the link to my story and the description of it.

9. What's a good piece of writing advice, when it comes to beginning a new story?

I would say knowing what the plot of the story is going to be about and having some sort of idea on how your characters are.

10. Who is an author you admire and why? (on or outside Wattpad)

I like a lot of authors but there are three that come to mind. Anna Todd, she wrote the after series and she literally started out on Wattpad actually and now her books have a whole movie series based off of the book series she wrote, I think that is amazing.

Elizabeth Stevens is also an author I admire, I had one of her books in a paperback and I started reading it one night and I literally was finished reading it by the time the sun rose.

Colleen Hoover is also someone I admire, I think her writing style is unique and I've literally read every single book she has written, almost.

11. Do you believe an author interacting with their readers is important?

Yes, I do. I believe that you are more likely to improve your writing when you interact with people who read it and provide feedback on it. It's helps you improve and sometimes they will give you an idea of something to include that you didn't even think about including before.

12 How do you believe a writer can build a fanbase?

I believe you can build a fanbase by interacting with your readers, writing something that may speak to them or that interest them, but mostly by completing your book you can get a lot of reads just from completing it.

Title: Trouble in not-so-pretty paradise

Status: Ongoing

Genre: Romance

Summary:

Remi is a badass, carefree, adventurous kind of gal. River is a charismatic, charming young fella. When their worlds collide they become to learn that losing the people or person your closest to hurts, obviously but can also lead you to finding out new things about yourself. Things that excite you.

Things that change your world.

What else can I tell you about Remi? Oh yes, she had a boyfriend and his name is Logan! What happens when she meets River? Will they last? Will what they have be enough?

Why should someone consider reading it?

It has plot twists and interesting character development. I feel like you will love this story if romance stories interest you! but mostly because this is a story that is about love and sometimes you can love someone and have it not be healthy, it will make you look over all of the bad things that they have done to hurt you and when someone helps you realize that, what are you to do? Ignore them?

Note from me: this story is my first ever story that I've had the courage to publish and I think you will enjoy it!

What inspired the overall idea of the story?

I don't know, really. I've always loved reading and I've never really found a story quite like this one and I wanted to write something that I thought would be refreshing to some readers and interest others.

Is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series?

I'm thinking about making it into a series but if it is, the series would be based solely in the perspectives of the other characters in this story and this would be the first one.
