interview #10 @XxxSistersxxX

1 What is your favorite story?

My favorite story is hard to pin down as there are so many great ones. But the one that always comes to mind when I suggest ones is the Sandman by Neil Gaiman. It's a collection of comic books about many different god, angles and other mythical creatures. I listened to them through audible and it's the best of thing I've ever heard and think it's amazing.

2 What is the best way to handle a bully?

The thing you have to remember about bullies is they don't just become one overnight. They may have their own troubles too. This doesn't at all excuse their behavior ever but never retaliate.

Throughout life you will come across many bullies it's not isolated and it doesn't occur in one stage of your life. But you will always find that just being yourself and not reacting is the best way to deal with them. What they decided to do and why they chose to be horrible is not your problem.

In the end the best way to handle a bully is to ignore them and focus on being the best you and trust me they will one day live with the guilt of what they have done. And if they don't they will find life isn't easy for them and that they struggle a lot. Bullies don't define you and if you are really struggling then please seek help never try to confront someone.

3 What's your favorite movie?

Cheesy but a classic in my eyes. She's the man. If I feel down I will put this on and have a great time.

4 What is a good piece of writing advice?

I would say just write. You control when you write, why and what about. If you find it hard then that's okay all the best writers had their struggles with it. May it be dyslexia, troubles in their personal life or many other things. But this doesn't stop them. They may take a break but they always come back to it.

And trust me your writing will never be perfect in your eyes, but someone out there will think it's a masterpiece. So try not to be too self-critical.

5 What is a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?

This is so hard because there's some great songs but right now on this exact day at this exact hour it would be three songs - don't deserve this by Andi, ground hound day by Em Beihold and Fictional by Khloe Rose. I love when songs are like their own story.

6 if you could hang out with your favorite celebrity for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?

This is hard because I don't think there is any celebrity that instantly comes to mind. But maybe Stanley Tucci or Julie Andrews they both seem like nice people with a lot of stories.

7 What inspired you to write?

I am neurodivergent with dyslexia so I was always years behind me peers in both reading and writing and I struggled in actually getting my GCSE and even failed by first year of college. But when I got back on my feet and finally got tested and help with all my struggles I accepted that I would always struggle but I could still be just as successful if I just put in more effort then was expected. I've always had stories in my head and found that I had made notes over the years and saw that as I wrote in my own time I was getting better. So I read more and wrote more and eventually I was getting a lot better. Yes I still make mistakes but it just means I need check my work more than most and I'm okay with that. And so I guess what inspired me to write was me.

8 Do you believe Wattpad has helped you become a better writer?

If I'm completely honest no. I got Wattpad is 2013 and was a teenager loving those werewolf flicks and love stories as well as fan fictions. I now don't really read any of these but I found that it was a great place to escape but when I got older I left the platform and I only return occasionally but got put off by the extra stuff they added until may of this year when I finished my book and decided to post it. So I became I better writer off the app but it definitely showed me that anyone can write.

9 Who is your favorite author?

For fantasy Neil Gaiman, for thriller T.M. Logan. I will always read a book written by these two.

10 What is your favorite holiday and why?

This is an interesting question because to me there is the Easter holiday, Christmas holiday and summer holiday. And that's all. Now I'm not at school these really don't mean much to me but I would say Christmas because I always take this off and love spending time with my family. It's the only time to me that you really get to show your family you listen and show them you care with the activities you do.

11 What is your dream vacation?

Anywhere I can escape. I love holidays where you spend your time exploring the history and beauty of other places. I don't care where is as long as I get a history lesson from there it's the perfect place for me. Sorry boring answer

request time

Servitude is my only story published on wattpad.

It means a lot to me and was the first one I've ever felt comfortable sharing it with on a public platform. I wrote it when I was dealing with a lot at home and with myself discovery. It feels like a letter to my family. Read it if you just want to escape. And want to connect with someone you've never meet. It will make you wonder what I would do in this situation. And if you enjoy it the sequel is on its way and is even better.

{@ShutUpAndWriteClub Monthly Society}

1 You happen to be a part of the Monthly Society book club. (Which is hosted by @ShutUpAndWriteClub) Could you please explain how you become involved in the book club? How it works?

I actually found them when I was looking to join a book club and it was a different book but I didn't have any friends on the platform so had no one to tag but I stayed followed until I made some on the app which I have now. When they posted about wanting graphic designers I applied and joined the discord where they discussed the idea of a month long book club which I jumped at the chance to join which is where I am now. The owner is lovely and really involves everyone and so happy to be a member.

2 What is your favorite piece of being a part of the monthly society book club?

That I get to interact with such nice people. People interact with you to discuss their book and I love reading other people's work. It really made me appreciate the minds some people have. I even had a cheeky look at people's books and can't wait to finally get to reading everyone's.

3 Do you think being involved in the book club helps you become a better writer?

I think the discord serve definitely has because it's made me see how every writer has their down days and that's it's okay to ask for a bit of guidance.

4 Why should someone consider joining the monthly society book club?

Because it's fun. You get to read a book and can even finish it and get to let an author know how great their book is. And if your like me and really love people letting you know if you've made mistakes as we are only human everyone is so kind in how they let you know how to improve on something because as a writer you read your work so much you miss stuff. Oh and the community everyone is so lovely.

5 If you could suggest anything for the account @ShutUpAndWrite to add/improve, what would you suggest?

My only suggestion is that we move the prompts and discussion to the afternoon after work hours because I feel I miss the many discussions because I don't get to respond till after work and dinner so miss out on a conversation a lot of the time. But I know there are different times so not sure how this is possible.

6 Do you believe more people should become involved in book clubs?

Yes. It's a great way to meet some really talented people and is a great and get some really good feedback on your work and reading some books you wouldn't have found normally.
