june 2021 mystery interview

This month's mystery interview spot has been given to: @Expressmagic101

1 if you could hang out with your favorite author and gain writing advice from them, who would you choose and what would you ask?

I would choose Thomas Hardy in a heart beat and ask him about his process of writing. I often wonder what made him a realist. Did he meet people head-on and listened to their stories or was he as creative and imaginative as most of the wonderful writers love to be? I would try to know about all of that inspired him except forlorn realities?

2 What is your favorite thing about wattpad?

Reading for sure. There are so many stories here worth reading. I think it's amazing how this platform aids so many writers to craft their material. Secondly, I love the fact that this place gives an equal chance to anyone and everyone to hone in their skills for writing.

3 What's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?

I revel in music in general. I often have several playlists when I sit to devour a book so I can't say but my favorite artist has to be the Weeknd. I think his talent is otherworldly. :')

4 How would you enjoy a rainy day?

Oh I love rain. It's my favorite! It's often followed by my ritual. A book worth reading in my favorite quaint corner in the balcony, some tea and classic symphonies of Beethoven.

5 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?

Absolutely! I'm relatively new here in terms of writing and I understand it's hard to promote a book in an ocean of so many brilliant writers. So anytime I get a new vote or a follow or a comment, it thrills me, even motivates me to keep going. People are really kind in this community and I'm beyond grateful for that.

6 What's your favorite movie?

I don't exactly have one because I have many. :'D I simply enjoy watching a good movie but I certainly love Hitchcock movies. They are very well made and the plotline of his movies never lets me down.

7 What is the best way to handle a bully?

The best way to handle a bully is to face them head-on and never reward them with your tears. Look that person in the eye and give out a clear message that you're not afraid of their petty and juvenile antics. There's never a need to be afraid of them or think low of yourself for that reason. A bully is everywhere and they love to prey on vulnerable hearts. They are simply meant to be taught a quite lesson: none of their antics will determine you in the grand scheme of affairs.

8 What inspired you to write?

People and misery. That's a very masochistic thing to say but I thrive on misery when it boils down to crafting a book or a poem. Writing in a way is a process for me, I channel my thoughts and navigate through my mind while I sit down and write. It's therapeutic to say the least. it's always easy to connect with jovial people but disconsolate ones have the greatest of struggles worth writing about. So when I come across people and their stories of betrayals and heartbreak, I can't stop myself from thinking about the kind of messages I could give out to people out there who are just as deep in their own miseries. We are never alone, albeit, it often feels that way.

9 What is your favorite holiday and why?

It has to be the Chariot Festival. Jagannath, one of the many Hindu deities is celebrated with pure joy and divinity when he commemorates his journey to Gundicha Temple for his annual visit. It's one of the festivals that makes me feel so close to people around me, strangers or family. This universe is my home. It reminds us that we are all connected in this world and that, we celebrate Lord Jagannath together. The rituals, culture and excitement is always the same for us every year, and I absolutely revel in the rich culture and mythical stories behind the celebrated festival.

10 What's your favorite story?

Tess of D'Urbervilles. It has significantly impacted my life, and my process of writing. Since Hardy was a realist, his works were rather based on real struggles of people in the Victorian era. I'm also keenly fond of Jane Eyre by Bronte and The Garden of Eden by Hemmingway. It helped me see world in a different light.

11 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for day, who would you choose and what would you do?

My favorite celeb is Jet Li and I would definitely ask him to at least run me through the basics of Tai chi. I grew up watching movies of him with my father and I cannot, for the life of me, explain how brilliant he is!

request time

I have started writing #Exposed on Wattpad lately and I'd love for you to check it out. (It enunciates on bully for one.) It's a murder mystery that will keep you hooked till the end and a romance-thriller that will feed your soul, in a good way of course. Haha.
