interview #4 @Revan1466
1 what's the best way to handle a bully?
It depends on the situation, but I would first try to ignore them and report it if possible. If that doesn't work and/or the bullying gets worse, then I would stand up to them. But I would definitely tell someone (if not multiple people) about it.
2 what is one Wattpad goal?
Getting a million reads(possibly without any promotion by Wattpad itself, at least not by my asking for it). But what matters most to me is my fanbase, not as much an arbitrary number. If even just one person enjoys my writing half as much as I do, I'll be perfectly content. A more minor goal I have is for someone to comment FTR (first time reading/reader) on the first sentence of one of my books, because I feel like that's a sign of a really popular book.
3 who is your favorite author?
Definitely Stephanie Meyer. I think a lot of my writing style is based on hers (at least for some of my first-person books) and her books are the main reason why an unpublished series I have exists. As you might have guessed, I'm very excited for the release of Midnight Sun.
4 what's your favorite holiday and why?
Christmas (Thanksgiving is a close second). I think I just enjoy the weeks before it more than the holiday itself, and celebrating traditions with my family members like decorating the tree, watching Christmas movies, and just being with family. Sometimes we visit other family members around this time, which I've always enjoyed.
5 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
John Mulaney, just because he seems like someone that would be fun to hang out with and talk to.
6 how would you celebrate publishing deal?
I'm planning on self-publishing, but I think would celebrate it by going out to a restaurant with family members and close friends, and I would break the news then.
7 how would you enjoy a rainy day?
It depends on the amount of rain. I've always liked to take walks in the rain when it's light (or even moderate) but if it's heavy and/or there's a thunderstorm, I would want to spend the day/night with my family members, playing card games.
8 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
Hmm, there's a lot of things I like about this site, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the user-hosted awards. Not only have I met a lot of amazing people from them, but I like how they help undiscovered authors gain more publicity by advertising them through reading lists, shout-outs, and interviews like this one(even if they didn't win, for some of them).
9 what's your schedule regarding your writing?
I don't have very much of a schedule when it comes to writing, I pretty much just write when the inspiration hits me. While this does have it's downsides(like not being able to update as much as I would want to), it works for me more than any other strategies I've tried.
10 what inspired you to write?
My parents are probably the main reason why I became a writer. Before I could even read, they would read to me almost all the time, which I think inspired my passion for reading. When I was about 6 or 7, I began writing short stories on lined paper and taping or stapling the pages together to look like books. I think what really inspired my passion for writing was reading Choose Your Own Adventure books, and later playing Knights of the Old Republic(which not only increased my passion for storytelling, but also for Star Wars itself) and Sims. I was about 9 years old when I began to write my first actual book, titled Half Sphinx. My parents were really impressed (my father recently told me that he actually went to a website to check if I had stolen it from someone because he couldn't believe I had written it at that age) and since then they've always been really supportive of my writing. I've long since stopped writing Half Sphinx, but both writing it and my parents' support showed me that, if I wanted to, I could turn what was just a hobby into an actual career, and I've been doing that ever since.
11 what's your favorite snack?
Definitely chocolate. Especially Lindor chocolate truffles, they're my greatest weakness. I always joke that the key to my heart is necklaces and chocolate.
request time
I'm currently working on a sci-fi romance novel named Thunderstorm. Right now I have 28 chapters published (not including the prologue) out of 30, though that may change once this interview is posted. Thunderstorm takes place a million years into the future after an asteroid hits Earth in the present time, and follows a couple, Jennifer and Ben, who were brought back to life from the asteroid in the future. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi and/or romance.
