interview #16 @BriBaker415
1 what's your favorite snack?
Pomegranates
2 what's your favorite holiday and why?
It's currently super bowl weekend because that's the only weekend every year I get to see all of my family lol
3 what's your schedule regarding your writing?
I update when I can - I found when I was on a strict schedule, my writing was horrible, so I no longer force myself to write.
4 are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
I'm not surprised right now - it's one of the only consistent happy moments in my life on a daily basis. I log on and see someone voted and know that my story made someone happy. I log on to wattpad way too much to check my notifications, but it's a large source of happiness for me (which is probably unhealthy). I'm surprised the most when someone votes for all 3 books - that's pretty rare. The comments at the end or last chapter are always a surprise when people actually want more.
5 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
My favorite thing about wattpad is there's a community of readers. I feel like for the first time in my life I can talk about books and my love of books and there are like thousands of others who are doing the same. It's the best.
6 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
I wish I could choose Johanna Lindsey. Sadly, she passed away last year and it's been crushing for me. I wish I could hang out with her and just thank her - her books got me through the roughest points in my life and gave me a laugh when I needed it most.
7 what inspired you to write?
I began writing because I read everything too quickly. I felt like the books I loved were becoming fewer and fewer and I stopped enjoying reading as much. I basically needed something to distract me from reading for a bit - so I started writing my own story.
8 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
Sittin on the dock of the bay - Otis Redding.
9 what's a good piece of advice for a newcomer?
Keep writing. It's so hard to write those initial chapters when you post them and have 0 reads and 0 likes. I just felt like no one would ever like my story, why should I continue to write it? But then I'd go back and read my initial chapters and continued to fall in love with the story and it made me happy. I didn't get more than 2 people reading my story until I posted around chapter 50. So, just keep writing your story :) Unless you begin to not like your own story, then give up. The Fourth Protector was my third attempt at writing a book on wattpad lol no one gets to see the first attempts.
10 who is your favorite author?
This is so hard because I've fallen in love with so many stories in so many different genres. I would probably say Johanna Lindsey and Judith McNaught - I read every one of their books at least 3 times a year. They make me laugh so hard.
11 how would you celebrate a publishing deal ?
I would celebrate with my family. I'm not too sure publishing is the route for me anymore though. I've always wanted to work with a really good editor - someone who sees potential in my story and can help make it so much better. I've always wanted my story to be what other books have been for me. I've turned to books when I've been depressed, when I've needed to calm down, when I've needed a laugh, when I've needed to escape. I just want my story to be good enough that it can be all of that for someone else. Hoping one day :)
Request time
Check out The Fourth Protector - an original fantasy story that I find charming at times :)
