interview #11 @eternalwandering
1 what is your favorite holiday and why?
Eid is my favourite holiday. It is a religion based holiday but that doesn't mean only Muslims can enjoy it. Eid is a time that gives me happiness for multiple reasons. It is a time for gathering with all the people you care and love, although I'm not the most social person, but it still brings ease to me in a way. The 2-3 days of 'celebrating' Eid brings me solace and a spark of joy. Whether celebrating means dancing cheerfully in a big hall with many people or staying at home and enjoying peacefully with loved ones.
2 what inspired you to write?
I surely have troubles answering questions like these. I usually end up writing or saying too much unfortunately. Novels have been my biggest inspirations, reading gave me an escape, a scope for my imagination, and opened my eyes to many things. And well, writing, for me is a strong deep feeling that I try my utter best to turn into words that would express the feelings just as powerful as they felt, when they're read. Sometimes, it comes naturally, a wonderful set of words; sometimes, lots of effort to express something well. Mainly, my thoughts inspire me to write(for example, realizations, perspective, questions, imaginations, or even a history book and how I feel about what I read.)
I think too much, writing is my only way to unburden my mind, like opening the drain to let all the filled up water out. Plus, it records how I felt at the time, it also helps me make some sense of my thoughts if they're random or in a puzzled form. Beloved Nature inspires me, real life situations, my dreams & nightmares.Occasionally, even a single word can inspire me to write a poem.
3 what's the best way to handle a bully?
Bullied from 1st grade till 10th grade, I have a very good experience with that. Bullies are usually just angry, full of hate and black ink which they throw that on you through their actions and words as they generate an endless amount of it within them. They target vulnerable ones. There are plenty reasons for that. I did not have a good household so I was broken every day and hence, I was a crybaby and additionally, I was an odd person. So, this made me a common target for bullies — I usually never had anyone stand up for me and no one to tell me I am loved and special. So, I was clearly vulnerable.
A way I dealt with my bullies was keeping my mind busy with novels and other hobbies of mine, I let out my anger and grief through other activities that would never involve hurting others, otherwise, I would've become just like them. No matter how hurt, physically and mentally, I tried my very best to try and see that it's an issue exists within them and not me. I put my effort in growing myself and not letting what they said get to me even if they did many times.
Soon, as i grew older, I was able to stand up for myself as I fought some of my insecurities and felt slightly better in my skin, that much was enough to speak for myself with a clear mind and with no fear or tears streaming down my face. Slowly, they saw me as a less easy target. In short, focus on working on yourself positively as much as you can and less on what they say. There is no general best way to deal with bullies as they're all different.
4 what's your schedule regarding your writing?
Whenever something interesting snd worth it comes to mind. Which fortunately, is often. I know, not organized or proper but that's the truth.
5 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
AURORA. Play a board game, dance, walk in the forest and talk about nature as we experience it. Have deep conversations, stars sighting, singing, gardening, paint something together, write a song together and watch a lovely movie.
6 what is a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
A different kind of human & Runaway, by Aurora. I know these are 2, but I honestly love these two and feel them on the same deep level
7 what's a good piece of advice for a newcomer?
Well, being a newcomer myself, I don't have much of an idea. But, I suppose I would suggest creating a lovely profile that is appealing to you, acknowledging the features available, and creating a proper planner for what and and how you plan to do before starting to publish. For eg. Your goals, mini goals, book titles, a theme, a nom de plume, etc — they're all salient. Lastly, Wattpad authors publish undoubtedly wonderful books! Be sure to stalk stalk stalk and enjoy them.
8 who is your favorite author?
Well, I'll try to not name a 100.
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Edgar Allen Poe
J.k rowling
Veronica Anne Roth
Lang leav
9 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
Yes, tremendously. I had no expectations (only hope) for getting even 1 follower or any reads and votes. Every reader is very valuable to me. They may just be my key to improving. And of course, it would feel lovely to know someone is enjoying my work.
10 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?
Any kind of celebrations I do for me are usually done in solitude or with a couple of true friends. So, most probably that. May sound like a boring preference but that's me.
11 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
Firstly, the stories available. The authors here are amazing and to know so many of them give out their hard work and fascinating stories/poems to be read and to bring delight or knowledge, for free?! That's magical.
Secondly, the opportunity to share without costs. I am still just a college student, it's such a great opportunity for me to have Wattpad for sharing my words out there and maybe soon — being heard.
Request time
I would suggest my first published poem book — Engraved Thoughts. I've expressed random poems there, they're not dark, some might just be eye opening and/or interesting. Though, it is still ongoing as I add to it from time to time.
