1 If you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
Honestly, I would have loved to hang out with Chadwick Bosman for a day. As someone from the same hometown, he was an inspiration to me. I looked up to him as someone who was able to find success despite the odds. His words were often an encouragement to me. As a writer, it's easy to feel discouraged sometimes when a chapter doesn't read the way you want or when you have no clue what to write next. I would love to have asked him how he stayed motivated when he could have easily given up. However, his life still inspires me to keep trying and keep writing.
2 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
Yes, one hundred percent! Being someone who remembers the first time I got 10 votes, it still feels surreal that 5 years later, I still have people who vote and comment on my story. It definitely encourages me to keep writing the next installment, for sure.
3 What's your schedule regarding your writing?
Writing is often a constant for me. I could be lying in bed and wake up at 3 am with a stroke of inspiration. I've even found myself writing in the middle of a lecture before (don't tell my professor lol). However, it is good to keep myself to a schedule too. Sometimes, even if I have no idea what to write, I'll sit down and try to write one scene. It may not even be chronologically where I last finished writing, but sometimes, this can spark new ideas for me. Often when I have a writer's block, it can be really helpful to skip around and fast forward a bit. Some of my best ideas have come about during those low stakes writing sessions. As my mentor always reminds me, "if you feel stuck, just keep writing."
4 What's the best way to handle a bully?
Try to understand them, and then outsmart them. When I was younger, I faced many bullies who probably just liked seeing me upset or angry. Often, when you have the opposite reaction, it frustrates the hell out of them! Also, some bullies may just be jealous of you. And that's okay! Understanding that not everyone will like you can be very freeing because ultimately, you are not at fault. Being a people-pleaser, I always felt like it was my fault or I must have done something to deserve their mistreatment. But accepting that I don't have to be bothered by their opinions helped boost my self-confidence.
5 What inspired you to write?
Actually, my best friend was my inspiration. I had always been a writer in some aspects, but I never would have had the courage to share my writing had it not been for him. We wrote many stories together (that I might actually share some day). He was actually the first person who read my first chapter of "The Exception" before anyone else. It was definitely a lot different then than it is now, but he is the one who encouraged me to post it online! I was also inspired a lot by the Divergent series and Mortal Instruments. Their worlds were interesting to me and I hope to write stories on their level some day!
6 What's your favorite holiday and why?
Halloween! I'm an October baby, what can I say. There's something about the possibility of being whatever or whoever you want to be that was always fun for me. Plus, candy corn lol
7 What's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
I honestly really love the community. I have had the opportunity to connect and collaborate with so many great authors and artists because of this app. This community has also been so supportive, and I don't think I would have ever finished my book had it not been for them!
8 What is one Wattpad goal?
One day, I would love to have an active following. I appreciate hearing from readers who have enjoyed my story. I have learned so much from my readers' comments and they encourage me to keep writing. If even one reader enjoys my story, I feel like it is all worth it.
9 What's your favorite snack?
Avocados! More specifically guacamole. I think I've tried guacamole from every restaurant in my town searching for the best of the best lol.
10 How would you celebrate a publishing deal ?
First, I would tell my family and friends about it! Secondly, once the reality set in, I think I would probably cry lol. Or eat some guac.
11 What's your favorite movie?
Star Wars! As a kid, I used to be super embarrassed by the fact that I could quote every scene from every episode by heart. It's good to know that I wasn't the only Star Wars obsessed fan!
