How Much Power Is Too Much? Part 3

This is the introduction to the villain of this story. His name is Charlie Dike, and he is an all around nasty guy. He used to go out with Cree, but back then he used and abused her. His obsession for her even led him to attempt to rape her, but Cree fought back and melted half his face off. He has a permanent scare and his obsession has turned to hate and he wants nothing more than to get revenge on her and anyone close to her. His main power is teleportation, but he was infused with Jordon's DNA and now has a shadow of his power.

That's a little information on Charlie so enjoy the story.

Charlie was pacing around the room, waiting for something. He never was very patient, but now it was important that he get answers. He paced around the room never taking his eyes off the door. Charlie was a lot of things, but patient wasn't one of them.

He tried to sit down, but his body was too wound up. Having that vapid little bookworm poking around in his mind wasn't helping things either. He stood there for the longest time waiting for the door to open until he turned away in frustration. That's when he heard the sound of the metal doorknob turning. He turned quickly more out of instinct as someone entered.

It was an older man but still handsome in his own right. He was clean cut and well-dressed, but even the most refined gentlemen could have dirt festering beneath the surface. Marcus Hunter was no different.

"What took you so long?" Charlie snapped at him as Marcus approached him, "You are not my only priority," Marcus said. "My father and I have much bigger projects than just you."

"Well, you better make it a priority," Charlie fumed. "You want my help, then you better stop ignoring me and give me the information I need."

"And what would that be?" Marcus asked as he set down two small white bags. He opened one and pulled out a white foam cup containing coffee. It was still hot so he removed the plastic top to let it cool down. He then handed the other white foam cup to Charlie.

"No, thanks," Charlie snapped at him.

"Some coffee would mellow out that attitude," Marcus said and reached into the other bag and pulled out a cinnamon roll and took a bite.

"Are you going to stuff your face all day or tell me what I want to know?" Charlie demanded.

"And what is that?" Marcus asked after he barely swallowed the bit of the cinnamon roll that was still in his mouth.

"When are these powers going to kick in?" he asked in frustration. "You and that psycho father of yours promised me the nerd's powers and still nothing."

"I told you, Charlie," Marcus said after taking a sip of his coffee. "You have to wait until the Demsey kid uses his powers before you can tap into them. Time jumping is a bit different than short distance teleporting."

"I know that," Charlie said. "I just don't understand why that little bitch can get into my head whenever she feels like it."

"Because taking in Jordon Demsey's essence opened your mind to his twin sister. She's connected to Jordon, so that means she's connected to you."

"Oh, great," Charlie said. He really didn't need that kind of complication. There were things in his past he didn't want anyone to know about, and Dora Demsey would be more than happy to blab about all his dirty deeds. Charlie sat down in one of the chairs. He held his head in his hands as he felt the girl enter his mind again. "Get out of my fucking head!" he shouted.

Suddenly he felt something, something powerful. As he closed his eyes he tried to block that girl out of his mind, but she was lurking about speaking to him in his head, but not to him directly. She kept repeating her brother's name, and Charlie just wanted to rip both their hearts out.

He wished nothing more than to be away from here, away from everything that was going on in his head, and then suddenly he disappeared.

Whatever happened to him was instantaneous and left him quite disoriented. When he finally got a hold of his senses he found himself in a vast landscape of desert, but there was nothing and no one about. A wind was blowing blinding him to his surroundings. It was so incredibly hot and Charlie felt like he was dying. He tried to stand and walked a few steps, but the trip left him in a weakened state. He tried to stand up, but he quickly collapsed onto the ground and lost consciousness.
