Chaptet 4-Faith and Pan

Medusa felt around behind her, searching for something, anything. She just needed to know that this wasn't a dream.

"Evvy?" She whispered, her voice barely audible.

Evelyn shook her head. She looked almost the same as the last the last time Medusa saw her. Wavy nutmeg hair. Now she was a little older. The only difference was her eyes. They were a purple blue colour. "No. I'm Faith. A shapeshifter. I'm sorry to upset you, but I lost my form."

"What?"

"As a shapeshifter, I can take on any form I please. But I also have my form. It's the shape I take when I'm not shifting. It's the real me. But two weeks ago it was stolen. Now I can only take shapes of others, not me. When I walked in, I saw you, so my shift changed."

Medusa tried to hide her pain. She knew her sister could never come back. "Oh. Who stole it? And how?"

Faith's lips curled into a sneer. "Rumpelstiltskin. And as for how-"

"Oi! Stiltskin!" Faith was interrupted by a boy about 12 or 13. He had messy brown hair and a mischievous look in his eyes. He wore a torn green outfit on. No shoes. Medusa didn't know where he came from, but she could've sworn Elli's face turned the slightest bit pink. "He's the one who took my shadow you know. Annoying trickster. A coward too. Never fights, just uses tricks and theft to get his way. Ya gotta love him."

"Hey, Pan." Faith said.

"Faith. Elli." Elli was definitely blushing. " Who's this? New recruit?"

"Yes." said Mr.B. "Elli brought her back herself."

The boy grinned at Elli. He was an inch or two taller than her. "Nice." Then turning to Medusa he said," Hey, I'm Peter Jones. Every one calls me Pan, though."

Medusa was still stunned that no one had mentioned the snakes in hair. "Why do they call you that?"

"Because when he was 10, he beat off a pack of Killer Hawks with a frying pan," Elli answered. " I wasn't there, but I hear it was awesome."

Pan dramatically sighed. "Ah, the hardships of a young feller."

Faith laughed.

"Perhaps it is time for the tour?" Mr. A asked.

Elli's eyes lit up. "I can do it!"

"But who?" Mr.D pondered.

"I will!"

"Who shall lead this tour?"

Elli was practically jumping. "Let me! I brought back Medusa! I can lead the tour."

THEY throw its hands in the air. "I know! How about Pan!"

Elli slumped down, and Pan bit back a smirk, and winked at me. Elli looked furious now. I gave her a knowing look. She blushed. Pan didn't notice. I looked and forth between them, and Pan noticed Elli blushing. He smiled with a triumphant look in his eyes, and turned away.

"Well come on," he said and I followed him out of the building. "I'll try to make this as short as possible: That place we were just in? Headquarters. Creatures with special talents are recruited to here, The Hut, where we are trained to our abilities and help people. Sometimes we go on quest, blah blah blah. So, yeah. You'll be staying in the training recruit dorm. You're a level one."

We walked past some green kids playing with purple snakes. "Elli said she was the youngest." I said.

Pan shrugged. "Well she's the youngest recruit. Recruits are people or creatures who join. Dwellers are creatures who were born here. Their parents or grandparents were recruits."

"Oh. So how long has Elli been here?"

"'Bout a year an a half. The first thing a saw of her was a nine year old helping an old hag-"

"That's not a nice thing to call someone." I interrupted.

"No- that's what she's called. A hag. Anyways, Elli was helping her. I was pretty surprised. I mean Hags are wrinkly, scary things. Mean to. And this little girl is helping her with an injury. She even fed her some bread."

"That's nice."

"Yeah, well I had only been there a year, but I knew Hags were bad news. But it didn't hurt her."

There was a question nagging at mind. "What's your power?" I blurted out.

"I can fly," Pan answered proudly. "And I only age if I want. I could live a hundred years as a boy. Sure if I got in an accident, I might die, but no biggy."

Just then a girl came running over to us."THEY needs you two. Meeting. Something about a quest." She ran off.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"Faith." Pan replied. "She changed her form." She was now a blonde with purple blue eyes. That was the one thing that stayed the same about her.

"Okay, let's go." And we ran off to Headquarters.
