From a first view, the city seemed abandoned; as she looked again, Medusa realized the city was not at all abandoned, just run down. In fact, it was swarming with people- well some of them were people, the rest strange creatures, scary and beautiful.

"We're here." Elli announced proudly, over looking the city. Most of the buildings were half rubble, the rest overgrown with vines. In the center was a large skyscraper, shinny and new. "This is my home, I'll take you to They. They-"

"Wait, wait, they? Is that like, several people, or one person named they?" Medusa asked.

"You'll see." Elli began walking down towards The Hut, dusting off her red hooded cloak. As she walked, Medusa studied Elli for the first time. Her long dark, almost black, hair was in two french braids. She wore a light blue dress (not the fancy kind) and over it was a red hooded cloak. She had on black boots and in her hands was a weaved basket. Whatever was in it was covered by a white cloth.

As they arrived, they got a few curious looks, but welcomes them nevertheless.

"So what kind of Magic do you do?" Medusa asked curiously.

Elli shrugged. "Just minor stuff, like talking to animals. Oh, the bread I bake, can heal creatures."

I noticed how she didn't say people. Probably because she lived with creatures not people.

They arrived at the shinny skyscraper, and went in (I'm too lazy to go into detail about how it looks so just use your imagination)

"So where is They?" Just as she said this, a man came down. "oh, now I get it."

His body was sorta normal, a little big. And his head, no, heads. Wow, he had four heads. They seemed to be arguing.

"I told you ze exterior of ze base vas eight courts!" The middle right head yelled in a French accent.

"No, no!" The outer left head said in a British accent. "Your mental pro caution is all wrong!"

All four heads began fighting, until the outer right yelled," SILENCE!" in a German accent. "We have company." He turned to us. "Sorry about that. We were discussing, ah, architectural problems. This is Bryanstudus, Anocumbo, Dylanrion, and I am Steve." He gestured to each head in turn. "You may call us Mr. B, A, D and Dr. Steve. If you are referring to all of us or simply us, that being one or more or however you see it, you may say They."

Medusa didn't know how to respond. "Erm... thank you?" She readjusted her sunglasses, afraid they would fall off. She remembered the last time someone saw her eyes....

-----flash back-----

Just two weeks ago she had ran away. Now here she was, searching for food. She could understand the snakes in her hair, and they were her only friends, even if they were mean. And hungry.

"I'm getting the food!" She complained as the snakes complained. "I just gotta find it. I'm only nine remember."

She snuck around the sweets shop, heading for the garbage. She didn't want to be seen, since she would look kinda strange.

"Hi. Are you alone?" A boy asked as he came up to her. She was so surprised, she forgot to turn away. The innocent boy's screamed was cut short, just like his life. His eyes would forever hold fear. He would never grow up, get married, fulfill his dream. All because of her.

Trembling, she bent down and grasped the dark glasses he dropped. Taking a breath, she placed them over her eyes. Then, she ran. Medusa ran away from the stone boy.

"MEDUSA!" Elli screamed. "Snap out of it."

Medusa blinked several times. "What?"

"You were talking, then you just kinda- froze up."

Medusa glanced at They. They, being the four heads stared back. "Sorry, I was-" but she stopped short of her sentence when she looked up at the door. All the blood drained from her body, and a feeling of dread, fear and guilt settled over her. Standing in the doorway was the girl who had Medusa's dreams for years. Standing in the doorway was her sister, Evelyn Waters.
