Chapter Eleven
"Are you sure you've packed your toothbrush, Tam?" Melodie yelled down the stairs, and Tamara rolled her eyes, nodding, even though Melodie couldn't see her.
"Yeah, for the fifth time."
"Well, I just want to make sure you won't have bad breath or gingivitis when Josh kisses you again." Melodie muttered, running down the stairs in her fluffy socks and pajama's.
"He won't, I won't let him." Tamara scowled, thinking about the devil himself. After he had left her standing around like a simpleton a few days ago after he planted one on her, Tamara was pissed. How dare he kiss her without her permission. How dare she enjoy it.
"You will. He's got so many good things going for him, you'll be begging for it!" Melodie sighed dramatically, and Tamara gave her shoulder a quick shove.
"And what would those points be?"
"He's hot. He's a doctor. He's young. He's funny. He's hot. Oh, he's your type. He's hot." Melodie ticked them off on her fingers, and Tamara rolled her eyes again.
"He is most certainly not my type."
"Please, he's exactly that."
"Whatever. I'm leaving. Please don't burn our house down while I'm gone, or throw any raging parties." Tamara said, hugging her tightly before pulling away. "I'll be home in two days."
"Okay, mum, have a great vacation!" She mimicked us in our younger years when our parents would take off for a weekend trip away, and we'd get up to all sorts in that time.
Tamara loaded up her car, and drove to the hospital, parking up next to Sasha. The other girl waved at her excitedly, motioning her to come over.
"Hey! You all ready?"
Tamara smiled. "Yeah, I hope so."
"Good, because you'll need to be." Sasha looked almost scared of her for a second, before a cheerful expression re-appeared on her face again.
"Why?" Tamara asked cautiously, folding her arms and giving the other girl a solid stare. Sasha gulped, hopping from foot to foot.
"Well, the other cars are all full so you're going with Josh. Bye!" She leaped back into her car and locked the doors before Tamara could process her comment. When she did, however, glee wasn't exactly on her mind.
"Sasha! No, absolutely not! I refuse to go with the pig! Please let me in, I'll get in the boot! Unlock the door or I'll pull it off, Sash."
By the time everyone was ready to go, Sasha was still locked in her car and Tamara was sulking, silently plotting Sasha's payback.
No way in hell was she getting there in one piece. Josh was going to have a field day. She groaned, just as he pulled up and honked his car horn, making her jump.
"Get in, Jacobs." He called, not bothering to help her as she loaded her bag into the boot and slammed it shut. She caught his wince and smirked. Good.
When she got in the passenger seat, he was watching her curiously. She looked up, glaring.
"What?"
"Nothing," Josh murmured, a playful smirk on his face. Tamara scowled, ignoring him. It was working for the first ten minutes so or, until he had to speak.
"Scowling really isn't an attractive look for you, love." He purred.
"Neither's your face, but I don't point it out." She shot back. Josh chuckled, looking back to the road.
"You love my face."
"I'd love it better if you let me near it with a scalpel."
"I didn't know you aspired to be a plastic surgeon."
"One of my many hobbies."
Josh chuckled again, and the sound grated on Tamara's nerves.
"you're annoying," she muttered, turning her body so she was partially blocking him out.
"If I knew kissing you would make you this annoyed, I would have done it ages ago."
"Lucky I didn't become a vet, then."
Josh looked confused. "Why?"
"Because if you did try to kiss me again, I would know how to spay animals."
"Did you just call me an animal?"
"No, I called the other British Josh Munroe one." Tamara muttered sarcastically, turning up the radio. Josh's smirk was still on his face, and it was like whatever she said she couldn't wipe it off his face. Studying him for a few moments, his features seemed more and more familiar to her, the straight nose, strong jaw, blonde hair.
His eyes flicked to hers, and they held eye contact for a while before she looked away, but not before trying to hide a small smile.

"For the last time, Josh, you can't order pasta at MacDonald's!" Tamara groaned, banging her head on her head rest. Josh frowned, looking up at the menu, studying it so intently he looked as if he was choosing between an Audi and a Porshe, not a Big Mac or a cheese burger.
"Look, I'm just going to order for you." She said, pushing him out of the way, muttering 'brits' under her breath. "Hi, can I please get two big macs, two large cokes and two large fries." Tamara asked the check out boy, and he nodded, placing their orders.
Soon, they were seated in a booth with their food, Josh picking at the meat skeptically.
"Is this stuff safe?" Josh asked, scrunching up his nose as a blob of mayo fell from his burger.
"Maybe, maybe not. Just enjoy the plastic meat." Tamara muttered, taking a large bite of her own. He watched her with disgust for a few seconds, and she started chewing with her mouth open just to make him screw up his face more.
"You're disgusting."
"Thanks, Romeo. Just eat it." She frowned as a thought hit her. "Wait, have you never been to MacDonald's before?"
She almost dropped her big mac when Josh shook his head slowly.
"You're kidding!"
"No, I never have."
"Why not?"
"I prefer my burger patties made from real cow, not their hooves." His lip curled at the site of his burger, before he started eating the chips. Tamara smiled slyly.
"You want to know what they're made of?"
"Potatoes?"
She leaned forward, ignoring her heart rate as it picked up the closer she got to his face. "Children."
In her defense, she didn't know that Josh would take her so seriously, so when munched chips exloded onto her face, she shot back, yelping. He stared at her for a few seconds before cracking up laughing. Tamara flipped him off, wiping her face with a thin napkin lying by her coke.
"Great, thanks for the chips, Josh, but if I wanted any I'd just eat my own." Tamara glared at him, making him laugh harder. She squealed when she realised some was in her mouth.
"We just shared spit, so technically, we just kissed again." Josh winked, standing up and wiping his hands on his jeans. "C'mon, we better get to the hotel before Dr. Sullivan thinks I murdered you and dumped your body."
"Why would he ever think that?" Tamara said sarcastically, following him out with her coke. He shrugged, jumping into the drivers seat. They had arrived in about four hours, and Tamara had demanded he stop at MacDonald's, so by the time they were driving to the hotel, it was starting to grow dark.
"I was more worried about my own safety, to be honest." Josh smirked, and Tamara rolled her eyes.
"How considerate."
"You're the one who threatened to spay me."
"You're an idiot, Munroe." Tamara said, shaking her head. He laughed, and they fell into an easy silence. Tamara glanced up at him several times, and thought back to the kiss.
She'd be lying if she said she regretted it.
That annoyed her immensely.
"We're here." Josh murmured, pulling his car into the hotel parking lot, and Tamara spotted Sasha's car. She grinned evilly, thinking of all the ways to get back at the girl.
When they walked into reception, Dr. Sullivan was standing there waiting for them.
"Hey guys, good trip?"
Josh just smirked and Tamara scoffed. Dr. Sullivan laughed, shaking his head. "Kids. Anyway, we had a slight problem with the rooms, so if you two are okay with sharing one..." He trailed off, and Josh looked at her with his eyebrows raised, his lips quirked.
"We'll be okay with that, won't we love?"
"Only if you sleep in the bathroom or balcony." Tamars shot back, not missing Dr. Sullivan trying to hide his smile.
"Lead the way, Doc." Josh hollered, his accent strong, and they followed him into the lift, watching as the lift went up three floors. hen the door opened, Tamara was struck by the flashness of the place, but considering the hospital was paying for it, she wasn't surprised.
"Alright, your rooms 210, here's the key, and meet us in the lobby so we can go out for dinner in an hour." Dr. Sullivan smiled, walking a few doors down. He turned to Tamara and winked as Josh was unlocking the door and stepping inside.
"Don't make too much noise, you hear me?" He grinned, and before Tamara could shoot him with the gun she didn't possess or just strangle him, which would be easier because she knew all the points in the neck, he shut his door and left her standing in the hallway.
Sighing, she grabbed her bag and opened the door, shutting it behind her before looking up and scowling.
"You've got to be kidding me."
Josh looked up at her and smirked. He lay out on the double bed like he owned it, flicking through the T.V. channels.
It took a moment for Tamara to realise that he lay on the only bed in the whole room.
She really, really, wished she'd just become a vet.
