Chapter 2: Strange Sightings
All throughout the next few days, I went the the local history museum. There were monuments and statues that survived the thousands and thousands of years of rusting and erosion. The walls were full of screens that told of the story of each ancient fragment of those before us.
I kept my notebook tablet handy in case my hard drive got too overflowed with data because let's be honest, nothing ends with history and time. It's such a simple thing, but when you dig deeper, it's so complex with all it's different paths and parallel worlds. Okay, Andy, getting way too out of hand here. We need the beginning of our time, not time itself.
Before my circuits explode with the philosophy I am bringing up now, I have to get as much information for Roby and my project. I was walking towards the "Historical Robots" section, and my eyes then darted to this odd engraving in a piece of displayed stone.
It was a picture of... something. The organism that was drawn within the rock has this graceful wave of this silk looking thing behind it, it was wearing this cloth that seemed similar to the rags we use to clean our oil spouts but longer, and it had these eyes that seemed to stare in your soul.
What was this?
I decided to look at the small screen that was on the electric barrier of the old tablet, and it gave vague yet unique facts that I never thought I'd hear.
Just a while ago, this piece of art was discovered on the capital grounds of Techon. Mechtropolis's former counsel specifically states, "This was an odd discovery... possibly something that could make us understand more on Mechtropolis."
However, even with this piece of evidence from the early robots, it seems we are becoming a bit father away than what we have now in our history books. Is this something we all looked over, or is something else sinister going on from the past?
All that is known of this artifact is the style. It does not have the same groove marks as our precise tools. Instead, they seem to be imperfect and rough. It may be because of the erosion around the edges, or it could be of some simple fantasy art.
This was all so interesting! I looked to my notebook tablet, and it was filling up with all these notes and questions my hard drive wasn't able to carry. Did that many question really occur in my systems? Questions did take a lot of space up, but I could at least hold fifty without having any problems.
I then heard this weird warping sound from near me. I looked behind me, and my scanner caught fresh levitating waves coming from this employee area. I made the choice to zoom in and turn up my audio to 100%. At least I'll be able to hear who's behind the door.
"If they find out more of this, then we'll be banished into the Solar Star!" I heard a high pitched voice speak.
"I know that," a low voice said. "I'm planning on making this all unfold."
"Why? What if someone finds out?"
"Silver, when I think of something, it never, I repeat, never goes wrong."
"Y-y-yes sir. Would you like me to make any other plans in case-"
"What did I just say?"
There was a long pause before the woman spoke again.
"Yes sir. May I go?"
"Yes. You may."
I left that part of the museum. What in Mechtropolis was that all about? Maybe it was something about inflation? Urban decay? Political power? Whatever it was, I shouldn't be eavesdropping on government officials. Even if this was something urgent, I was still not old enough to participate in that kind of subject.
I then heard a ding from my tablet. I turned it on, and Roby was texting me something.
R: Got all u need?
I typed away.
A: As much as I could get. Got ur stuff u need 2?
R: New lens, better focus, drives all empty.
A: Good.
R: Well I gtg. Just catching up on u. Never no what schemes u could be planning.
A: Ha ha very funny.
R: Bye Andy.
A: Bye.
With that, I closed up my device and turned to leave the building. But something that was blocking me was Sir CPU. He was the head of our cousel. To be honest, he was much more intimidating in person than on the screens.
"No texting allowed," he spoke.
"Oh," I said. "I'm sorry."
"Just don't do it again, alright?"
He nodded his head before floating off in the other direction. That was odd. Andy, first it's the artifact, and now this? You really have gotten yourself into something haven't you?
