"my cuddle bear!" you squealed as you saw your dad smiling at you through your phone screen.

"my snugglebug!" your dad said dramatically as you both tried to reach each other by extending your hands to the screen but frowning when you couldn't hold each other.

it was early eight in the morning and you had just woken up from your slumber when you got a video call from your beloved dad. still in your bed hair, you had leaned on the bed's head as you chatted with him while the faint sunlight hit your sleepy face.

"is everything fine there? nothing's troubling you right?" you continued asking questions with a look of concern on your face while your dad shrugged off the questions with a laugh.

"everything's fine, y/n." he rolled his eyes but his droopy eyes said otherwise.

the dark circles painted under his eyes showed how many sleepless nights he had been staying awake, working on the unfinished paperworks. it was evident in his voice how exhausted he was no matter how hard he tried to sound fresh and energetic.

"stop fooling around, dad. you need a break." while you were nagging your dad, the door of your room clicked open without a knock or two.

and in came your mother with a mug of coffee in her hand.

"who came?" you heard your dad say from the phone as you turned your head back to the screen again.

"the one who pushed me outta the door for she was too hyped to get here," you rolled your eyes as you eyed the not so young lady who stared at you questioningly. "your beloved wife."

your mom's face relaxed as she realised who you were talking to. she kept the mug on your nightstand and rushed to stand by your side, looking at the phone screen along with you.

"are you still sulking at me for that?" she hit your shoulder lightly. "oh hey honey!" she squealed once she saw her husband smiling from the screen but her face turned to a frown once she saw his state.

"did i trouble you too much? have you been eating well?" she asked him as he once again laughed them off.

"of course i am! no need to worry about me! in fact, your friend, annie has been sending me meals everyday. she comes by to check on me time to time." he smiled.

you awed at your friend's behaviour and made a mental note to give her a treat once you return seoul for taking care of your dad.

"these things aside, when will you come? i'm missing you!" you whined.

"soon. the work's almost done so i'll reach there by the end of the week." your dad gave you a tight smile as his eyes formed tiny crescents.

"alrighty! rest for now! make sure to give yourself a break too! come here soon and i miss you! i'll call you later, dad!" you waved at the screen as he waved at both of you back and you hung up the call.

after freshening up and having breakfast, you accompanied your grandma to the cafe.

from the time you have been here, you could feel this being your daily routine. no matter how early or late you wake up in the morning, you are always given your daily mug of coffee which always sent hot vapours in the air. if early, the coffee would be on the table of the living room and if late, your mum would place your coffee on your nightstand without knocking your door. after your warm coffee you would get ready to accompany your grandma to the cafe. but what awaited after that was left unsaid.

"gran," you spoke, grabbing the attention of your grandma who walked as healthy as a horse beside you. "you never told me the reason why you named the cafe 'saudade'. it sure is a... peculiar name for a cafe." you voiced out your thoughts.

on hearing your thoughts, grandma gave out a small laugh, sending white mist into the air as she answered, "maybe someday i'll narrate the story of the cafe to you."

"when?" you questioned again.

"when you are ready." she answered, leaving you with more questions which you failed to even put into words.

when will i be ready?

how will she know if i am ready?

what do i have to be ready for?

those were some of the questions that wandered in your mind.

on reaching the cafe, you joined jungkook who was busy in his work as a cashier. jimin seemed to be taking a day off since he wasn't in a good shape to be working at a cafe.

you rested your face on your palm as you watched the customers come and go, the kids enjoying chocolate pastries given by their parents, the students sitting in the corner of the cafe with their iced americano as they dug into their books and the elderly having a light-hearted chat with your grandma. but what drew you in were the couples. the couples who sat facing each other. while some shared one drink with two straws, some clicked load of photos to post on instagram and some of them fed each other while mouthing 'aah'.

you never knew they can be so cringe.

but it made you question if you used to be like the clingy couples too when you were with him but shook your head as soon as the question came in your mind.

"jimin is a lot better than what you think, y/n." you shot your head up from your palm as you looked at jungkook who was now free of customers or of any girls hitting on him.

"what do you mean?" you asked him, confused.

"he isn't a playboy or a pervert like how you think. he's a lot better. he is simply too immersed in searching himself a partner that he forgets the number of girls he has dated." he snorted at his last statement.

"i'm telling this to you since i like you, platonically of course, and that we all are childhood friends, we'll be meeting each other more often. you can't spend your whole vacation on a misunderstanding right?"

"hmmm." you hummed as jungkook's words appeared in your mind, making you roll your eyes again.

you saw jimin as nothing but a playboy who dated girls for fun. and you didn't want to be one of them. but then again his friend who has been staying by his side since childhood would know more than you who didn't even get to spend half of your childhood with him.

after going around the town with jungkook and fooling around, you were now returning back home as the sun settled after a tiring day. you hit an empty can on your way as you walked on the empty alley of your neighbourhood. the can rolled its way and stopped after being hit by a shoe. looking up, you saw a guy with curly blonde hair patting a cat who's fur was as dark as the night sky and its eyes sparkled under the streetlight.

you stopped on your tracks as you observed the two interact and stood a few meters away from them. the cat seemed to like his touch as it leaned at his small head pats and scratches under its tiny ears. but as soon as the can hit the boy's shoe, he stopped patting and looked at your way. the boy revealed to be a red nosed jimin. you never observed his features but now that you do, you can tell his features are as innocent as a baby's.

and then, jungkook's words striked your mind like a lightning.

"jimin is a lot better than what you think, he's a lot better."
