TWENTY THREE. happy.
Selena's eyes fluttered open, and she gazed out of the window, taking in the view. Stretching her limbs, she rose from the bed and made her way to the hallway.
With purpose in her steps, she headed towards the kitchen. Taking a seat at the table, Selena rubbed her eyes and let out a small yawn.
Feeling a sense of urgency, she reached for her cell phone and turned it on. Dialing her assistant's number, she pressed the phone to her ear, patiently waiting for a response.
"Hello?" Jessica's voice came through the line.
"Hey, did you do what I asked?" Selena asked.
"Yeah, it's all taken care of. I couldn't find a trace of the story anywhere, I double-checked," Jessica replied.
"I just wanted to thank you for your hard work. I'll see you soon," Selena expressed her gratitude before ending the call.
Slipping her cell phone into her pocket, Selena grabbed her purse from the rack and closed the door behind her. Making her way to her car, a smile played on her lips as she reflected on her life.
She knew she was incredibly fortunate to have such a strong support system. Selena cherished the unwavering support she received during the challenging moments in her life.
She had people who stood by her side and took care of her when she needed it the most. Instead of prioritizing her career, she had made the decision to prioritize her health.
She felt immense gratitude for all that she had accomplished in such a short span of time. The assistance she received during her three-month stint for lupus treatment and her regular sessions with her counselor had made a significant impact on her journey.
As she settled into the driver's seat of her car and began her journey to the studio, a small smile spread across Selena's face. She was ready to face the day.
She gracefully entered the building, gliding through the doors and into the bustling studio. With a gentle push, she closed the door behind her, shutting out the noise of the outside world.
A radiant smile adorned her face as she placed her bag on the nearest chair, claiming it as her own. Selena ran her fingers through her hair, a habit she had developed over the years.
As she chewed on her lip, a melodious tune escaped her lips, barely audible to anyone but herself. Curiosity got the better of her, and she reached into her pocket to retrieve her cell phone.
Anxiously, she checked her messages, hoping that Eugenia hadn't seen the story from last night. Her face contorted into a grimace as she scrolled through the messages, finding nothing from her girlfriend.
Sighing in relief, she slipped her cell phone back into her pocket. It was time to focus on her craft.
With determination in her eyes, she made her way to the recording booth, ready to pour her heart into the lyrics. Hours passed, and Selena emerged from the booth, a sense of accomplishment radiating from her.
She placed the headphones around her neck, a symbol of her hard work and dedication. Looking towards her team, she licked her lips nervously before opening her mouth to speak.
"Was that okay, John?" She asked, her voice filled with anticipation as the music producer gave her a thumbs up and a warm smile.
A bright smile spread across her face as she removed the headphones. With a skip in her step, she left the booth behind, shutting the door firmly.
Collapsing onto the couch, she delved into the lyrics, adding her own touch as time went by. Finally, satisfied with the end result, she leaned back, content.
She carefully set the pen down on the table before standing up. As she did, all eyes turned towards her, and smiled warmly at her.
"I'll see you all soon," She announced.
"Have a great day," John replied, nodding with a small smile.
She grabbed her purse and left the studio, making her way to her car. Suddenly, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.
Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out her phone and pressed the answer button, placing it against her ear. She opened her mouth.
"Hello?" She greeted.
"Hey there. I miss you so much," Eugenia's voice came through the phone.
A smile spread across her face as she heard the familiar voice, causing her to stop in her tracks.
With her free hand, she held the phone between her neck and shoulder, continuing to walk.
"I miss you more. Are you busy tonight?" She asked.
"I'll check my schedule. Why do you ask?" Eugenia replied.
"I wanted to go out tonight," She admitted sheepishly.
"What brought this on all of a sudden?" Eugenia asked.
"We haven't really gone out in a while since we made up from our fight," Selena confessed, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"That does sound like fun. I'll call you back once I figure out the plans," Eugenia responded.
"Okay, I love you so much, babe," She said, her voice filled with affection.
"Bye, I love you too," Eugenia replied.
"Please don't leave me," She whispered softly.
"I would never do that to you," Eugenia promised before ending the call.
She tucked her phone back into her purse, closed it. She slung it over her shoulder as she made her way to her car.
She unlocked the door, her eyes immediately drawn to the ground. Ignoring the flashes of cameras going off around her, she took a deep breath and opened the door.
A smile spread across her face as she climbed into her car, ready to leave the studio. Starting up the engine, she drove to her apartment, eager to get inside and lock the world out, entered her apartment closing the door behind her, shutting out the noise and chaos of the outside world.
Making her way to the kitchen, she decided to treat herself to some delicious food. Sitting down on the couch, she balanced the plate on her lap and began to eat, savoring each bite.
Just as she settled in, her phone started ringing. With a sigh, she picked it up with her free hand and answered.
"Hello?" She said, her voice filled with a sense of calm.
"Is this Selena Gomez?" A husky male voice asked on the other end.
"Yes, who am I speaking with?" She replied, curiosity piqued.
"This is The Weeknd, a singer from Canada. Can we meet up this afternoon to discuss our agreement?" He asked.
Her eyebrow raised in surprise, even though he couldn't see her reaction through the phone. She paused for a moment and smiled.
"I can't do it tonight, but maybe another time if you're up for it." She said.
"That would be great. I'll call tomorrow to talk over the deal," Abel said.
"Okay, you have a good rest of the day," Selena said politely.
"Likewise," He replied before hanging up.
Selena put her phone away and rubbed her neck, feeling a sense of relief. She continued eating, enjoying her meal in peace.
The singer's request for a face-to-face meeting piqued her curiosity. Perhaps they were considering a future collaboration on music.
However, she couldn't help but wonder if her team was trying to set her up with another celebrity for a fake relationship to boost her album's publicity. She hoped it wasn't the latter, as she already had enough stress in her life.
As she ate her food, she ran her hand through her hair and eventually stood up from the couch. After placing her dish in the sink, she returned to the couch and sat down.
Suddenly, a strange noise caught her attention, causing her to scan the room. When she noticed someone familiar standing at her front door, she couldn't help but smile widely.
As she approached the door, her hand instinctively reached for the knob and turned it. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she exhaled the breath she had been holding. Suddenly, she spotted Eugenia standing there with a bag in her hand. Her mouth opened in surprise.
"Hey there, beautiful," she greeted, watching Eugenia step inside the house.
"Hi, Selena," Eugenia replied, shutting the door behind her and smiling as she received a kiss from her girlfriend.
"What do you have in there?" Selena asked, motioning to the bag in Eugenia's hand.
"This is actually for you, Sel," Eugenia responded, holding it up to her.
Selena raised an eyebrow but took the bag from her anyway. Her girlfriend smiled as she peered inside the bag.
Her lips curled into a giant smile spreading across her face. Eugenia stepped closer in front of her and smiled brightly.
"Do you like it?" She asked curiously.
"I don't like it at all," Selena teased.
"Well, I sh-" Eugenia started to say before getting cut off.
"I love it!" Selena squealed, taking the necklace out of the bag and grinning.
"You almost scared me," She said, chuckling.
"Well, I'm sorry," Selena replied.
"It's fine. I will put it on you," Eugenia said, taking the necklace and placing it around Selena's neck.
"Thank you so much," Selena said, looking at the necklace.
"Thank you, beautiful." She said with a small smile playing on her lips.
"Aw, sweetheart..." She said, her hands covering her face before she placed them gently at her sides.
She wrapped her arms around her, pulling her in close and planted a soft kiss on her cheek. A mischievous smirk danced on her lips as she looked at her.
A smile graced her face as she locked her gaze with her partner's warm brown eyes. Selena couldn't help but giggle, resting her head against her lover's chest.
Eugenia glanced down at her, a quiet sigh escaping her lips. She didn't want to stir up any trouble in their relationship, her mind racing with wild thoughts as she nervously chewed on her lip.
With a smile, she held her tightly, tracing aimless circles on her back and letting out a contented sigh. She held her close.
"I love you so much, Lena," She whispered into her ear.
"I love you too, baby. There's something I need to talk to you about, something that happened a little while ago," Selena admitted, lifting her head to meet her girlfriend's gaze.
"What is it?" Eugenia asked, her lip softly caught between her teeth.
"I'm going to be meeting another artist," She said quietly.
"That's incredible news, Selena!" She squealed, a bright smile lighting up her face.
"Thank you so much for supporting me through all of this. I truly appreciate it," Selena commented, returning the smile.
"You're welcome. When are you meeting this person?" She inquired.
"Well, I'm meeting him tomorrow," she replied.
At the mention of meeting a guy, Eugenia couldn't help but grimace, but quickly masked it with a fake smile. Selena smiled back, her gaze shifting to her necklace as she looked at her.
Eugenia was determined not to let jealousy consume her as she thought about her girlfriend working with another artist, who happened to be a guy. She had learned to trust her partner and hoped that she wouldn't do anything to harm their relationship, like in the past.
Uncertain about whether she should show the pictures she had taken earlier, Eugenia ultimately decided against it.
She didn't want to make assumptions about what could potentially happen with this other artist. Normally, Eugenia would immediately jump to conclusions and start an argument.
Running her hand through her hair, she pursed her lips, deep in thought. She didn't want to say anything foolish that could jeopardize their future together.
Placing her hands on her lap, she tried to calm her racing thoughts. Lost in her thoughts, Eugenia wore a blank expression on her face, while Selena quietly laughed, toying with her necklace.
Suddenly, Eugenia cupped her face and lifted her chin with her finger, their eyes meeting. A slow grin spread across Eugenia's face, and Selena furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, opening her mouth to speak.
"I'm a little worried about the meeting you have coming up," Eugenia admitted.
"Why are you worried?" Selena asked, concern evident in her voice.
"What if you have to date him for a specific amount of time?" Eugenia suggested.
"I don't think that's going to happen, but even if it does, I won't do it. I'll fight with everything I have to prevent that from happening," Selena reassured her, looking directly into her eyes.
"That's really unexpected," She admitted.
"Don't worry, babe. Why don't you come with me to the meeting?" She suggested.
"I'm not sure," Eugenia said, hesitated running her hand through her hair.
"I would feel so much better if you were there," She confessed.
"I'm still not sure," She replied.
"Please," She pleaded.
"Alright, I'll go," Eugenia finally agreed, a smile forming on her face.
"Great! I'll let him know to schedule the meeting when I call him tomorrow," Selena said, her smile widening.
She pulled her closer, resting her head on her shoulder. She smiled holding her close.
"I love you, baby," She whispered softly into the crook of her neck.
"I love you too, until the very end," She replied, wrapping her arms around her waist.
"We should get going. I have a surprise for you," She said with a mischievous grin.
"Yeah, we should. I'm excited to see what you have in store," Selena said, pulling away from the embrace to hold her hand.
She grinned, shaking her head, and leaned in to kiss her cheek. Blushing, she held her hand tightly.
Eugenia's face lit up with a smile as she tightly squeezed her hand, the sound of the doorbell interrupting their moment. Curiosity piqued, she hurried towards the door, her heart pounding with anticipation.
As she swung it open, a look of shock washed over her face, mingled with disbelief. She is shocked.
It was someone they both knew well, standing there on the front porch. The person ran a hand through their hair, their expression blank.
Tilting their head to the side, blood stained the front of their pristine white shirt. Desperate to prevent the blood from spreading, they covered their face with their hands.
"Hey there, ladies," The person greeted, their voice filled with a mix of nonchalance and uncertainty.
The couple remained silent, their astonishment rendering them speechless. Rolling their eyes, the person opened their mouth to speak again.
"Hi," They repeated, hoping for a response.
"Oh my god!" Selena gasped, her hand instinctively flying to cover her mouth in sheer disbelief.
"What the heck?!" Eugenia exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of shock and frustration.
