TWENTY FOUR. new couple.
The person glanced at her, their face filled with concern. She couldn't tear her eyes away from them, her hand dropping from her mouth, but they didn't say anything, only opening their mouth to speak.
"I did something terrible," The person confessed.
"Come inside. Let's talk about it," Selena offered.
The person stepped inside and closed the door behind them. She crossed her arms, fixing her gaze on the person who had warned her about her girlfriend.
Ricardo's gaze fell to the ground. Selena approached him, wrapping her arms around him as he wept.
Eugenia shuffled on her feet, walking towards them. She tapped her shoulder, causing her to break away and look at her.
"Yes, babe?" She inquired.
"Aren't you going to introduce me to your father?" Eugenia asked.
"Oh, right. This is my father, Ricardo," She introduced them.
"I suppose you're her girlfriend again, correct?" Ricardo asked, extending his hand.
"That's me. It's great to see you again, sir," She replied, shaking his hand as he stepped back.
"It's good to see you too. Do you mind if I use the bathroom?" He requested.
"It's down the hall on the right," She directed.
"I'll be there before I leave," He stated, heading towards the hallway.
"Babe, I think that was quite rude of him," Eugenia commented once he was out of earshot.
"He wasn't being rude. He did something terrible, which I don't expect you to understand," She defended.
"Now I get it. You're still upset about when I left you the first time," Eugenia stated.
"Upset doesn't even begin to describe how I felt when you left me. I think you got what you deserved," She retorted, crossing her arms.
She ran a hand through her hair, at a loss for words. Selena refused to meet her gaze.
Eugenia moved towards the couch, sinking down and letting out a sigh. She placed her hands on her lap, her eyes fixed on the floor.
She avoided looking at her. She sighed.
"I told you I was sorry and explained why I left in the first place. I thought we had moved past that," She whispered.
"I apologized and explained why I left, thinking we had moved past it," She whispered.
"I thought so too, but you can't understand what he went through," She replied, looking at her.
"Do you know?" She asked.
"No, I don't know how he feels. But no matter what, he's still my father," Selena mumbled.
"I know he's your dad, but I don't know him very well," She said.
"You should get to know him again. He wanted to talk to you when he called earlier," She suggested.
"I'll try to get along with him, but only because I love you and want you to be happy," She said.
"I love you too. I'm going to call The Weeknd and agree to meet up," She explained.
Eugenia motioned for her to come closer and pulled her onto her lap, kissing her passionately. Selena responded eagerly, wrapping her arms around Eugenia's neck.
As they kissed, her dad interrupted them. He is shocked.
"Hey, I did- oh, I'm sorry!" He said.
"Oh my god, Dad!" Selena exclaimed, pulling away from the kiss.
"It's okay, don't worry about it," Eugenia reassured him.
"Aren't you going to ask her something?" She prompted.
"Do you want to go get a drink with me?" He asked.
"Of course, I'd like that," She replied.
"Why not this weekend?" He suggested.
"That would be great," she agreed.
"I'll get your number to call you," he said, giving Selena a hug before leaving the apartment.
"That was great!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"I hope he doesn't chew me out like the first time we met," Eugenia said worried.
"Try to calm down. It's going to be okay," Selena assured her.
"I hope so," She said.
"Well, I'm going to get ready to leave now. I love you, babe," She said, kissing her cheek.
"Have fun. I love you too," Eugenia replied, watching her head to her room.
Selena entered the room and made her way to the closet, searching for an outfit to wear.
Afterwards, she left the restaurant with him. The weekend turned his head to the side holding her hand.
Tonight, discovered that she would be entering into this agreement for a while. She tightly held his hand.
With a smile on her lips, she kissed his cheek. He leaned in, pretending to speak, enjoying her touch.
Selena and Abel strolled side by side, their steps in sync. Selena embraced him before parting ways and driving home.
Entering her apartment, Selena shut the door firmly behind her. She placed her keys on the counter, disappointment clouding her eyes as she scanned the empty space, longing for her girlfriend's presence.
With a heavy heart, Selena slowly made her way to the bedroom, peering inside. A smile illuminated her face as she spotted her girlfriend peacefully asleep on the bed.
Approaching the bed, Selena climbed in and enveloped her girlfriend in a warm embrace. Contentment washed over her as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, finding solace in their shared embrace.
Months later, Selena and Abel embarked on a romantic date. Hand in hand, they walked towards the restaurant, their love evident in their intertwined fingers.
They walked inside the restaurant. They got seated at table in the back and made sure to get view of outside.
Selena perused the menu, her eyes briefly glancing at the man seated across from her. They both knew that their respective management teams had orchestrated this arrangement to last for about a year.
Selena had initially resisted, but her team had insisted on playing along, just like they always did. He had discovered that Selena was dating her ex-wife, Eugenia, and had even met her a few times, she appreciated the fact that they were able to get along well.
"Why didn't you invite your girlfriend to join us?" Abel asked in a hushed tone.
"I don't think that's a good idea. I can't be with her publicly," Selena confessed.
"It's a shame that they're not willing to take risks for your happiness behind the scenes. It's truly unfair," He stated sympathetically.
"It's fine. I'm with her right now, but we can't act like a couple in front of the cameras," She explained.
"It's understandable if the other person you're seeing is well-known," Abel confessed.
"I understand that, but I do hope that one day I can be open about our relationship," She said, taking a sip of her wine.
"We should order now," He suggested quietly.
"I'll have the salmon," She informed the waiter.
"I'll go with the chicken parmesan," He decided.
"Very well, I'll have your food ready," The waiter replied before walking away.
Abel gazed at her, realizing that he was beginning to develop some feelings for her. In return, she met his gaze and returned his smile.
"I have something to tell you," He stated.
"Please don't tell me that you're falling for me. I can't handle any more pressure in my life," She confessed.
"I just wanted to let you know that you look beautiful in that dress," He commented.
"Thank you so much, Abel," Selena responded.
"You're welcome," He replied, taking a deep breath.
"I'm hungry," She said, shaking her head.
"Don't worry, the food will be here soon," He assured her.
"Look, I'm sorry. I'm annoyed that I've been forced into this, even though I do think you're a great guy," She softly expressed.
"It's fine. I think you're an amazing person all around," Abel commented.
"Thank you," She said, a blush spreading across her features.
"You're welcome," He replied, a small smile on his face.
"Yeah," Selena said, sipping her wine and shrugging.
He smiled, placing his hand on the table. The move made her to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"You should probably take my hand, Sel," He whispered.
"Alright, I am going," She said, taking his hand.
Abel gently squeezed her hand, glancing around the restaurant. Her eyes shifted to the outside as cameras flashed.
He took a breath, rubbing her thumb gently. She put on her best smile, turning her attention to the man sitting across from her.
He noticed that she was putting in her best effort, and he was grateful for the time they spent together. Selena had come to terms with the fact that she wasn't in control of her career as much as she thought she was.
He appreciated how she handled herself in the situation they were in. He hoped that they could remain friends after it was all over.
She found herself starting to enjoy his company more than she would admit, of course. She swiped her hand across his thumb, making him smile.
After a while, the food arrived at their table. They held hands, pulling away a few minutes after the cameras were gone.
During their date, they engaged in lively conversations and shared laughter. They talked more for a bit.
After dinner, they made their way to the car, holding hands. He patiently waited for her to get in.
The car ride was quiet, with Selena leaning her head against the window, gazing out at the street. He nervously chewed his lip and let out a sigh, while she adjusted her posture and placed her hands on her lap.
Upon arriving at her building, he greeted her with a warm smile and a hug. She hugged him back before getting out and entering her home.
"Eugenia, I'm back!" She called out, closing the door behind her.
"Hi, baby," Eugenia said, moving in for a kiss.
"How was your day?" She asked, pulling back slightly.
"It was good. I'm glad you enjoyed your date," Eugenia replied.
She placed her hands on Selena's waist, pulling her closer and wrapping her arms around her neck.
"I wanted to call you after dinner," Selena admitted sheepishly.
"Why didn't you?" Eugenia inquired.
"I didn't want to upset my team," Selena explained.
"I hope they'll release you from the contract. I hate seeing you stressed," Eugenia confessed.
Selena let out a breath, locking eyes with Eugenia, who smiled warmly. Selena cupped Eugenia's face.
She kissed her passionately. Eugenia responded eagerly, pulling her in closer without breaking the kiss.
The kiss deepened. Selena let out a soft moan before pulling away to look at Eugenia.
Selena raised an eyebrow and smirked, tilting her head to the side. She giggled, resting her hands on her waist.
Eugenia trailed her hand down Selena's arm, intertwining their fingers. She led Selena to the couch, where they both sat down.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" Eugenia asked.
"Of course, baby," Selena replied.
Eugenia inserted a movie into the DVD player and started playing it. Selena rested her head against Eugenia's chest.
They began watching the movie, but Eugenia's phone beeped, indicating a new text message. She opened it and smiled upon seeing a picture of Selena on the screen.
"Do you like what you see?" She inquired.
"You look absolutely stunning, darling," She responded, nodding approvingly.
"Thank you so much," She replied, beaming at her.
"You're welcome, Sel," She said, returning the smile.
She chuckled, shaking her head. Eugenia blushed and covered her face with her hands after switching off her cell phone.
She planted a gentle kiss on her cheek and refocused her attention on the movie. Resting her head on her chest, she closed her eyes.
Selena smiled and wrapped her arm around her, pulling her closer. She nestled her head even closer against her chest and began to snore softly.
She turned off the TV, wrapped a blanket around herself, and tried to resist falling asleep. Eventually, she drifted off in her arms.
