TEN. run in.

As Eugenia signed the papers, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Selena's words felt like a knife twisting in her heart, breaking it into pieces.

She had expected a fight, but Eugenia's calm demeanor caught her off guard. As she packed her suitcase, her soon-to-be ex-wife leaned against the door, watching her every move.

Eugenia knew it was time to move on, but it still hurt. She wanted to say something, anything, to make Selena change her mind.

But she knew it was pointless. As she zipped up her suitcase, she looked up at Selena and smiled.

"You will find someone who deserves you, Selena," She said softly.

"Same goes for you," Selena replied.

"One last kiss?" Eugenia asked.

She wasn't sure if she wanted to do it, but as Selena moved closer and cupped her face, she knew it was the right thing to do. They pressed their lips together gently, savoring the last moments of their relationship.

With a gentle smile playing on her lips, she leaned in closer, wrapping her arms around her neck as their lips met. The kiss was sweet and passionate, but eventually, she pulled away, sighing softly.

A hint of sadness flickered in Selena's eyes as she touched her lips, a bittersweet memory lingering. Eugenia's smile was subtle yet radiant as she delicately placed her necklace on the table.

With a graceful motion, she reached for the door handle, opening it and closing it behind her. There was an air of mystery surrounding her departure.

Selena's gaze fixated on her wedding ring, her fingers slowly sliding it off her finger. Placing the ring down on the table, she picked up the necklace, clutching it tightly as she walked away.

It was a symbolic act, a tangible representation of moving on from a chapter that had come to an end. Overwhelmed with emotions, sank onto the bed burying her face in her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks.

The weight of the situation hit Selena hard, as she never truly believed she would find herself facing a divorce. It was a painful reality that she had to confront.

At the tender age of 23, she had already experienced the heartache of a failed marriage. Exhaling deeply, absentmindedly rubbed her thumb over the spot where her wedding ring used to be, a constant reminder of the love that had slipped through her fingers.

Wiping away her tears, she stood up from the couch and made her way to the bedroom. As she entered the room, her eyes scanned the surroundings, seeking solace in the familiar.

Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she cradled the necklace in her hand, finding comfort in its presence. Exhausted from the emotional turmoil, she eventually succumbed to sleep, tears still glistening on her cheeks.

-A year later.-

Selena was in New York for work on comedian Amy Schumer's TV show. As she walked out of the hotel, a smile spread across her face.

Fans were waiting for her, and she happily took pictures with them. But as she got into the car and the door closed shut behind her, her smile faded.

She leaned her head back on the seat and looked down at where her wedding ring used to be. Running a hand through her hair, Selena couldn't help but think about her former wife, Eugenia.

It had been a year since their divorce was finalized, but the pain was still fresh. She had tried going on dates, but all she could think about was Eugenia.

Selena had pretended that the divorce wasn't difficult, but it was a complete and utter lie.
She knew that the day she filed was a mistake, but she didn't know why she walked away with no issues or fighting for their marriage.

Looking out of the window, Selena sighed. She hated herself for walking away like it was something unimportant.

She had hoped that she would move on easily, but she realized that she would've given in if Eugenia wanted to work things out. Selena shook her head, plastering a smile on her face as the car arrived at the store.

She got out and headed inside, ignoring questions from the paparazzi. Greeted by her model friend Gigi Hadid, Selena hugged her back, pulling away with a heavy heart.

"How are you, sweetie?" The model asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Doing good, trying to stay positive. It's hard sometimes," Selena admitted, her words tinged with a hint of vulnerability.

"I'm here if you want to talk about it," She offered, her voice warm and comforting.

"I appreciate it," She replied, her gaze darting around the room, searching for something or someone.

And then, her heart skipped a beat as she spotted her ex-wife Eugenia across the room. Panic surged through her veins, leaving her breathless.

"Oh my god, no," She whispered, her voice barely audible as she quickly turned away, desperate to escape the painful memories.

"Selena!" Gigi called out, her voice filled with urgency.

Feeling overwhelmed, she pressed her body against the nearest wall, seeking support. She couldn't believe her eyes, seeing Eugenia after sixteen long months and unable to face the situation head-on, averted her gaze, fixating on the floor away from the bustling deli.

As she glanced around her surroundings, desperately searching for an escape route, the sound of approaching footsteps caught her attention. With a sudden turn, found herself face to face with the very woman whose heart she had shattered in court a year and a half ago.

"Selena," Eugenia whispered, her voice barely audible.

"Hi, gorgeous," She whispered back, quickly covering her mouth in disbelief at her own words.

"You look amazing," She complimented, unable to hide her admiration.

"Thank you. So do you," Selena replied, her eyes scanning Eugenia from head to toe.

"You're welcome. Thank you," Eugenia responded, her words filled with a mix of gratitude and nervousness.

"You're welcome," She said softly, the tension between them palpable.

"Eugenia?" Someone called from behind.

"Hey there," She greeted warmly.

"What's going on?" She asked, clearly curious about the unexpected encounter.

"We were just catching up babe," Eugenia explained, leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on the girl's cheek.

"Hey, Selena!" She exclaimed, pulling her friend into a tight embrace.

"It's been a long time. I'm so happy for you two," Selena said, pulling away to look at Eugenia.

As she stood there, her eyes widened in disbelief at the sight before her. It was her ex's girlfriend, none other than the stunning model and her friend, Cara Delevingne.

"Thank you. How are you doing?" Selena managed to ask, trying to keep her cool.

"I'm doing good, and how about you?" Cara replied, her voice as smooth as silk.

"I'm doing really good," She said, a slight smile playing on her lips.

As Eugenia took Cara's hand and started to walk away, she couldn't help but check out Eugenia's backside. Eugenia caught her staring and winked, making her blush.

Heading to Gigi at the front of the deli. She smiled reassuringly at her.

"I saw Eugenia holding hands with Cara," She said, running a hand through her hair.

"I'm sorry, but maybe it's time for you to find someone new," Gigi suggested.

"It's hard to find someone who understands my lifestyle. I'm going to be on tour in the next few weeks," She explained.

"You need to try," Gigi urged.

"I will," Selena promised.

As they talked, they headed out for the night, discussing life as they made their way to the hotel. She smiled.

Selena strolled into the elegant lobby, making her way towards her room. As she entered, she swiftly changed into her cozy pajamas and settled onto the plush bed.

The weight of reality hit her - Eugenia had truly moved on since their divorce was finalized. Selena had held onto a glimmer of hope, but now she knew she needed to let go.

Exhaling deeply, she allowed her head to sink into the soft pillow. Her mind was consumed by thoughts of her ex's new relationship with one of her friends.

The betrayal stung, and she struggled to find peace within herself. Finally, she surrendered to sleep, finding solace in the tranquility of her dreams.

However, her peaceful slumber was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing in the morning. As her eyes fluttered open, reached out to illuminate the room with a soft glow and with a gentle touch, retrieved her phone from the countertop, delicately rubbing her tired eyes.

A smile brightened her face as she saw her friend Samuel's name on the screen - the same Samuel who had taken a punch from Eugenia two years ago. With a sense of anticipation, accepted the call and brought the phone to her ear.

"Hello?" She greeted, her voice filled with warmth.

"Hey, do you maybe want to have breakfast?" Samuel asked, his voice hopeful.

"Sure, when should I be there?" Selena replied, her excitement evident.

"Around 11, maybe. It's at the Italian Palace, just a few blocks from your hotel," He informed her.

"See you then," She said, her voice tinged with anticipation.

"Bye, gorgeous," Samuel playfully added before hanging up.

With a quick change of clothes, she joined Samuel for a delightful breakfast, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. The absence of paparazzi meant she could enjoy their time together without the constant scrutiny and judgment that often accompanied her relationship with him, or rather, the lack thereof.

-after breakfast.-

Selena and Samuel found themselves in the cozy confines of her hotel room, lazily watching a random TV show that happened to be playing. As Samuel glanced over at Selena, a warm smile spread across his face.

He couldn't help but be captivated by her presence, yearning to be more than just friends. Uncertain of Selena's readiness to embark on a new romantic journey after her previous relationship, Samuel ran his fingers through his hair, contemplating his next move.

Despite his reservations, he leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her head, causing her cheeks to flush with a delightful shade of pink. Chuckling at her adorable reaction, he shook his head in amusement.

Breaking the spell of the TV show, Samuel turned it off and focused his attention solely on Selena. With a serious tone in his voice, he expressed the importance of what he was about to say.

Selena, pouting playfully, protested the interruption, making Samuel's desire to kiss her intensify. However, he resisted the temptation, knowing that this conversation required his full attention.

"I have something very important to tell you," Samuel began, his eyes locked onto Selena's.

"Alright, the floor is all yours," She said, her curiosity piqued.

"Are we together?" Samuel asked.

"I don't have an answer for that question," Selena admitted, her voice tinged with vulnerability.

"I have feelings for you that go beyond friendship." He confessed.

"I'm not sure if I'm ready to be in a relationship right now. I'm still trying to heal from my past with Eugenia." She said.

"I understand completely. I would never pressure you into anything you're not ready for." Samuel said.

Selena's words triggered a memory, causing her to drift back to a painful moment. She sighed.

"That's what she said during our marriage," She murmured, her mind briefly transported to that fateful day.

-Flashback.-

"Absolutely not," Selena declared, jutting out her lip and flashing a playful smile.

"Baby, please reconsider," She pleaded cupping her face to look into her eyes.

"That's my final answer," She said, holding Eugenia's gaze.

"Okay, fine. I won't pressure you into anything you're not comfortable with." She said kissing her forehead.

"I love you," Selena said, smiling.

"I love you too, forever and always," Eugenia replied, returning the kiss.

-----

"Please stop doing that," Samuel said.

"Doing what?" Selena said looking at him.

"Stop talking about her. It's getting pretty darn old," Samuel said, standing up from the couch.

"I'm sorry to upset you with my love life, Samuel," Selena said, rolling her eyes.

Samuel's words stung, and Selena didn't want to talk to him anymore. As he stormed out of the room, she whispered.

"I don't think I'll ever be over her." She said.

She stood up and walked to the bedroom, gazing out the window at the stunning view. Sighing, she knew that her heart still belonged to her ex.

With a contented grin, she shut her eyes, relishing in the moment of pure bliss. Moments later, reopened her eyes, gently brushing away a tear that had escaped down her cheek.

Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, she reached out and grabbed her cell phone from the nearby nightstand. With a flick of her finger, began scrolling through her Twitter feed, eagerly exploring the updates from her fans and fellow celebrities, a smile playing on her lips.

Suddenly, her scrolling came to a halt as she stumbled upon a picture of Eugenia planting a tender kiss on Cara's cheek. Selena let out a sigh, her heart heavy with mixed emotions.

She swiftly powered off her phone, realizing that a much-needed break in Los Angeles was in order. Gathering her belongings, picked up her suitcase and made her way outside the hotel.

Arriving at the airport, she patiently waited for her flight, a radiant smile dancing on her lips as she nervously bit down on her lower lip. Her attention was abruptly captured when she heard her name being called.

Raising her head, she spotted Cara making her way towards her. A wave of disbelief washed over her, but quickly masked it with a forced smile, meeting her friend's gaze.

"Are you serious right now?" She said under her breath, her smile never faltering.

"Hey there, Selena!" Cara exclaimed, her face beaming with joy.

The two friends caught up for a while, their paths diverging as they headed towards different flights. Selena proceeded to the terminal, boarding the private plane with her suitcase in tow.

Finding a comfortable seat, she settled in and slipped on her headphones, immersing herself in the melodies that filled her ears. With a sense of tranquility washing over her, closed her eyes, surrendering herself to the embrace of sleep.
