FOUR. over.

Eugenia's senses slowly awakened as she heard the murmur of voices around her. With a gentle flutter, opened her eyes and rose from the floor, her gaze immediately fixated on the Latina woman lying on the bed.

Without a moment's hesitation, she rushed to her side, desperate to be close to her. Taking a seat beside her beloved wife, Eugenia tenderly placed her hand on her cheek, relishing the warmth of her skin against her palm.

A single tear cascaded down her own cheek, which she quickly brushed away before rising to make her way to the waiting room. Sinking into a chair, pulled her legs up to her knees and let out a soft sigh.

It was then that she heard her mother-in-law approaching, concern etched across her face. She sighed softly.

"What on earth happened?!" Her mother-in-law exclaimed, her eyes filled with anger.

"I don't know," Eugenia whispered, her voice barely audible.

Mandy, her mother-in-law, couldn't fathom how such a thing could have occurred. She plopped down on a chair across from Eugenia, her frustration evident.

"I can't believe you allowed this to happen to my daughter!" Mandy's words pierced through the air.

"I... I need to go. I'm so sorry," Eugenia stammered, her voice trembling, made her way towards the exit and slipped into her car.

As she drove through the streets. She felt tears welled up in  her eyes, blurring her vision.

As she drove down the road, her mind wandered back to the moment she discovered Selena's infidelity. The memory hit her like a ton of bricks, causing her to pull over to the side of the road.

She couldn't help but relive the heart-wrenching moment, feeling the same pain and betrayal all over again. It was as if time had stood still, and was transported back to that moment.

-Flashback-

"Hey Eugenia," Her best friend Lucy exclaimed, bursting with excitement.

"Hi Lucy. What's got you so worked up?" She asked.

"I saw something absolutely mind-blowing last night." Lucy replied leaning back.

"Well, spill the beans! What did you see?" She asked.

"Take a look at this!" She said.

Eugenia's eyes widened as she glanced at the photo of Selena and Niall kissing. She quickly averted her gaze not wanting to confront the truth that she had already suspected deep down.

"No, this can't be real," She muttered, her voice filled with denial.

"I'm so sorry, Eugenia. It's true." She said.

"It all makes sense now,"  She said, her laughter tinged with bitterness.

"What do you mean?" Lucy asked.

"The late meetings for her tour, the lies about visiting family... I knew something was off. But now, it's all crystal clear." She said.

"You suspected she was cheating?" She said.

"I had my suspicions lately. And you just confirmed my worst nightmares." Eugenia said with a nod.

"I should go now," She said, her voice trembling.

"Take care, Eugenia," Lucy said softly, understanding the need for space.

Eugenia retreated to the bathroom, clutching the torn picture in her hand. Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed onto the floor, the weight of betrayal overwhelming her.

-End.-

As she glanced at her ring, a symbol of their love, Eugenia contemplated whether to remove it. After a moment of hesitation, she made a decision.

She would keep it on, a reminder of the love she had. She smiled softly.

Eugenia looked out the window. She kept driving.

Eugenia was on her way back to the hospital, her mind filled with worry and anxiety. As she stepped out of the car, closed the door with a forceful slam, releasing some of her frustration, the paparazzi, always lurking in the shadows, wasted no time in capturing her every move.

Determined to shield herself from their prying eyes, she instinctively covered her face with her purse, continuing to walk with a sense of purpose. Amidst the chaos, a group of reporters shouted questions at her, their voices filled with curiosity and speculation.

"Is it true that Selena has been cheating on you with Niall Horan former boy band member from One Direction? Are you and Selena heading towards a divorce?" They yelled, desperate for a response.

She disregarded their inquiries and proceeded to enter the hospital. She made her way towards the waiting area.

Upon reaching the waiting room, she spotted her mother, sister, and in-laws and walked over. Overwhelmed, she ran her hand down her face.

"How is she doing?" Eugenia asked, her concern evident for her wife Selena.

"She's currently stable. She asked to see you a while ago," Selena's stepdad Brian replied.

She approached the room. She knocked on the door, hearing Selena's voice a few seconds later.

"Come in," Selena said.

Closing the door behind her, she walked towards the bed and sat next to Selena. She gently took her hand.

"Hi," She greeted, softly kissing Selena's cheek.

"Hey there," Selena replied.

"How are you?" She asked.

"I'm fine. There's something I need to confess," Selena said.

"I'm all ears," She assured her.

"I knew I was hurting you by having an affair. In the end, I wanted to get caught. I never loved you, Eugenia," Selena confessed.

She let out a shaky breath, pulling her hand away from Selena in shock. She stared at her.

"I can't believe you would say this to me. I want a divorce," She declared.

"Gladly," Selena responded.

"I will see you around," She said, standing up and heading towards the door.

She glanced back at her soon-to-be ex-wife, sighing as she walked out of the room. She closed the door behind her.

Returning to the waiting room, she took a seat on a chair and looked at her finger. Eugenia slipped her ring off and placed it inside her pocket.

"What did she say?" Mandy asked.

"We're getting divorced," She replied, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Are you serious?" Mandy questioned.

"She told me she never loved me. She wants to be with him," She whispered.

"I'm so sorry," Her own mother said, pulling her into a comforting embrace.

"My marriage has been a complete lie. I can't believe she didn't mean anything she said in our vows," She said, sobbed into her mother's chest.

"You'll get through this,"  Her mother reassured, rubbing her back.

"Thank you, Mom. I love you," She expressed, wiping her tears away.

"You're welcome. I love you too," Her mother replied.

"I need some fresh air," Eugenia stated, stepping outside.

Eugenia glanced around, finding solace as she leaned against the wall, relieved that the relentless paparazzi were nowhere to be seen. Their absence meant she could escape their prying questions about her wife's condition in the hospital.

With a cigarette in hand, she lit it up. She took a deep inhale and exhaling the smoke with a sense of release.

She delicately twirled the object between her fingers, lost in her thoughts. It was a bittersweet moment, as she realized that this very object was the cause of her crumbling marriage - Niall Horan.

"Hey Eugenia," He said, his tone filled with a mix of confidence and arrogance.

"What the hell are you doing here?" She yelled.

"I wanted to come and see my girlfriend." He replied.

"Go ahead, she's leaving me anyway." She said.

"Thanks, mate." Niall smiled flashing a smile.

Rolling her eyes, took another drag of her cigarette, exhaling the smoke with a sense of defiance. She longed to unleash her fury upon him for tearing apart her marriage, but she knew better.

It could easily turn into a tale of revenge, and she didn't want that. With a flick of her hand, she discarded the cigarette, crushing it under her foot and remembered when Selena smoked with her.

She made her way to her car and drove off, her mind consumed by a whirlwind of emotions. As she reached her destination, walked towards the porch, opening the door and stepping inside.

The door closed behind her, shutting out the world. She absentmindedly put her keys away, her thoughts still in disarray.

"Fuck my life," She whispered, her voice filled with despair, as she slid down the door.

"I can't believe it wasn't what I expected." She muttered

She let herself cry, her breathing becoming labored. Wiping her eyes, sniffled, trying to regain her composure.

Gradually, her breathing steadied, and she stood up from the floor. Determined to find solace, she reached for her phone and dialed a friend she hadn't spoken to in a while.

"Hey, it's Eugenia. Do you want to hang out tomorrow morning?" She asked, her voice filled with hope.

"Great, I'll see you then," She said, ending the call with a newfound sense of anticipation.
