Weekend

Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam (pbuh) said: "I and the person who looks after the orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this (Putting his index and middle finger together)."

Inaraah's home:

In the evening, Inaraah helped her Bhabis in preparing dinner. Though she knows how to cook, she hardly does it. But she helps them in chopping vegetables and washing dishes. During weekend, her mother makes sure that she cook either lunch or dinner for the family. Her parents gave her all the freedom but still they wanted her to learn all the house chores.

Upon hearing the Adhaan, she moved to her room to freshen up and offer her Isha'a salah. Then she continued reading Surah Mulk.

It was narrated by Abu Hurayrah that the messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam (pbuh) said "A surah from Quran containing thirty verses will intercede for a man so that he will be forgiven and the surah is Surat Al Mulk."

Inaraah's p.o.v

After having my dinner, I came back to my room. Switching off the lights, I laid on my bed gazing at stars from the window. I was lost in my own thoughts when Afreen Bhabi entered my room and switched on the lights. I groaned when the room illuminated and I closed my eyes in reflex. I asked her to switch off the light.

She did as I said and joined me on the bed. At night , Armaan stays with his father so Bhabi comes and spent sometime with me. We generally share about our day and experiences.

We both were gazing at the stars when suddenly Bhabi asked me "What are you thinking Inu?".

I turned to face her and shared my thoughts. I love writing poems and except her and my friends no one knows about it.

"Bhabs I just framed a new poem. You wanna hear it?" I asked her.

She just gave a nod and I narrated her the poem.

The night has it's own story..
Hidden behind the moon's glory..
Darkness has it's own meaning..
Which the stars outshine by twinkling..
My life is similar to that of night..
Reason of it's existence is out of sight..
Darkness is where I love to live..
Coz brightness mess up my inner peace..
The day when I'll be no longer a vagabond..
Will be the day when finally the dusk meet its dawn..

She always appreciate and encourage me to pen down my thoughts. I have a diary in which I have written more than 20 poems so far. I feel it's the best way to share my feelings and thoughts.

"Inu why don't you publish your poems?" Bhabi asked.

I looked at her and replied, "Bhabs I write poems for myself. We do many things for others but they should be something different which we should do only for ourselves.."

Bhabi gave me a look which I couldn't comprehend. She then questioned me "Won't you write poems for your husband as well?"

"Maybe or maybe not. Or should I say I have written few poems imagining him." I spoke wiggling my eyebrows at her.

She sat up on the bed and asked me to show them to her. I refused saying it's only for him and nobody should read it. She gave me an annoyed look and I just shrugged off.

She was adamant to read them so I said "I'll definitely show them to you Bhabs when time comes." She wasn't convinced with my reply but agreed to it.

We continued to talk for another one hour. She then left and I was again lost in my thoughts. Soon my eyelids felt heavy. I recited few surahs from Quran followed by the dua recited while sleeping and then lost myself in the deep valley's of slumber.

Next day:

I groggily opened my eyes in the morning. I looked for my phone and sat up with a thud when I saw it was 9.45 and I was still in the bed.

I ran into the washroom to freshen up and then took bath. I came out and dressed into a patiala suit. Wrapping my Hijab I made my way downstairs.

Everyone was present except Shaad Bhai. Yeah he is a lucky guy. Nobody says him a word even if he sleeps till afternoon. Sometimes I really envy him.

I made my way towards my family and greeted them, "Assalamualaikum."

They replied to my greeting and continue with their talks. Mamma and mommy got up and moved to the kitchen. However Fahad Bhai was glaring at me. He doesn't like when I sleep till late morning. I was trying to escape but he stopped me "Inu".

I'm so dead now, I thought. I turned towards him and waited for him to proceed.

He asked "Do you know what time it is?" I was mentally praying to Allah to spare me from morning lecture. I didn't answer and looked down.

He again questioned me the reason for sleeping till late. I looked up and replied "Bhaiya I slept after 6 in the morning. I thought to take a small nap but I didn't know how I overslept."

He was above to say something when Pappa interrupted him saying it's weekend. At least let her sleep peacefully for two days. I mentally thanked him for saving me from a lecture.

I quickly made my way to the kitchen and joined the ladies. They didn't have their breakfast yet so we all ate together. Samiha Bhabi raised her eyebrows asking me whether bhaiya scolded me. I shook my head as no and smiled at her.

It was 11.30 and I was waiting for my friends. Every saturday we visit an orphanage to spend some time with those kids and play with them.

Soon Suhana, Alisha and Neha came and we left for the orphanage. We did our graduation from same college. At that time we didn't knew our friendship will continue and become stronger.

Little care orphanage:

As we entered the orphanage, kids came running towards us. We were in our final year when we came to know about this orphanage and decided to help them in every possible way we can.

Ms. Sahiba is the lady who looks after the orphanage. She is in her late forties and it was her who started this orphanage.

She had a very painful past. She got married when she was 17. She wanted to pursue education but her parents didn't allow her to do so. Even after seven years of marriage when she was unable to conceive, her in laws forcefully got her divorced and throw her out. Her parents took her with them but treated her not less than a burden. Unable to bear the taunts she left her home and came to Hyderabad.
She started working for a family to earn a living. She used to clean utensils, wash clothes and cook for them. The family was very humble; they gave her a small room to stay.

One day when she was returning from market she found a baby under a tree. She went to check upon the baby. She was a beautiful girl with fair skin tone and green eyes. She picked her up in her arms and coo-ed her. She waited for two hours for the girls parents to show up, but they didn't. She took the baby with her and informed to police. Even after four days when nobody turned up, she understood that her parents abandoned her.

She started taking care of the girl. She was very happy for becoming a mother to an abandoned child. Over a year she found 3 more infants who were abandoned by their parents. That's when she decided to look after all those kids who were abandoned by their parents. The family for whom she was working were pleased with her and helped her in opening a small care centre. They also helped her in getting funds to run the care centre.

Over a period of time, many people came forward to help her and that's how she managed to establish Little care orphanage. Many students from different colleges started volunteering at the orphanage. That is how we were introduced to this place. The atmosphere at this place feels so homely and comforting.

Those little kids have developed a soft spot in my heart. They babble in their baby language which makes them even more cute. Currently there are 14 girls and 9 boys in the orphanage.

Even though I love all of them but I have a soft spot for the cute little Khushi who is 4 years old. She came to this orphanage last year. She was scared of everyone and used to cry.

When I visited the orphanage on saturday she was sitting on a bench and looking at the kids who were busy playing. I went near her and she looked at me. She have beautiful brown eyes and a cute little nose. I tried talking to her but she wasn't responding to me.

Unable to understand what to do I just placed my hand in her hair and started caressing it. She looked up with tears in her eyes. Seeing her like that my own tears started rolling down from my eyes. 'Yeah I'm a emotional fool at times.' Suddenly she placed her head on my lap and hugged me by wrapping her hands around my waist. I lifted her up and took her in my arms. I hugged her to myself and started rubbing her back to calm her down. For the first-time she spoke in three days and called me Di. Happy would be an understatement when she spoke. I kissed her cheek and started rocking her back and forth. From that day she started interacting with others and joined the other kids.

My thoughts came to halt when I felt a tug at my dress. I looked around to see Khushi staring at me intently. I picked her up in my arm's and she kissed me.
She then spoke, "Di I want to have this chocolate." I smiled at her and started feeding her chocolate. She was blabbering and I was enjoying her talks.

After feeding her I went to offer my zuhr salah in the orphanage with Suhana and Neha. After finishing the salah, I offered two rakaths of Salat e shukr, for blessing me with parents and family. I can't thank him enough everyday. I didn't knew when my tears started pouring.

Later we played with the children. I was so happy spending time with them. It was 4 when we left the orphanage and made our way to home.

Inaraah's home:

In the evening I prepared dinner for everyone. As usual Shaad Bhai started with his rambling to annoy me. He was praying to Allah to protect everyone and grant them health after eating my food.

I was glaring at him and about to counter him when mamma interrupted "Stop it you both and Shaad eat your dinner quietly." He didn't say anything but was making faces looking at me. Their will be revenge for this, I thought.

After dinner, everyone sat together and started talking about random stuffs. And in between laughing on Shaad Bhai's silly jokes. I was so happy and mumbled Alhamdullilah under breath for such a blessing in my life.
