( 00. ) THE DEVIL REINCARNATED
❛ she don't get emotional
kill off all her feelings ❜
FOR AMBER NIEVES, there was no way in righteous hell that she was going to be pleased about being shoved into the Cullen's responsibility, again.
There was no scenario, well what she could envision, in which she would walk alongside the family of supernatural with a genuine smile illuminating her face or allowing her head to be thrown back when a chorus of laughter erupted from her mouth at a shitty joke Emmett Cullen would crack.
However, what she could earnestly envision was glaring at the bronze headed 'pathetic excuse of a vampire', otherwise known as Edward Cullen, because he decided to open his fat gob to a fucking human because she smelt pretty and having a colourful shouting match with the mutated pixie vampire because she was fucking persistent on having her wear a dress when Isabella Swan decided to grace everyone with her unwanted presence.
Despite popular belief that Bella shouldn't even be in a five mile radius of the Cullens, the moronic girl with a confidence that the seemingly perfect family was all sunshine and rainbows, decided to include herself in the family's welfare thus stirring a newer, harsher atmosphere in an already tense one. All thanks to the Nieves twin's rapid arrival.
The brunette's curiosity for the supernatural world was tiring as she seemed pretty fucking persistent in knowing every bloody aspect, much to Amber and Rosalie's annoyance, mostly Amber who herself was mortal and hated everything to do with the supernatural world and the Cullens.
Amber Nieves never was meant to be a bitch, to put it nonchalantly. She was, of course, self-centred as a child and the world that mattered to her stopped at the tips of fingers only expanding to her brother. The people around her quickly came to realise that she was mostly emotionally blind; she couldn't and wouldn't empathise with others and what people thought about her company and herself.
She was this five foot three cesspool of an unknown, a poster child of bad choices and misplaced affection, a definition of modern messes.
And isn't the unknown always a bit frightening?
She treated everyone who wasn't up to her standards as if they were sub-human, which was vehemently most of the population. She interacted with others of course; she grimaced and spat out insults but what people didn't see underneath the many, many layers of hardened eyes and scowls was that she was hopelessly devoted to her big brother, Indigo Nieves.
Now Indigo Nieves was a stark contrast to his mean spirited sister, he was talented at underestimating himself, his worth and living up to low expectations. About seventy per cent of his life is spent in swirling tornadoes of confusion and unnamed, ugly feelings while the other thirty per cent was taking things personally and thinking too deep.
Indigo Nieves was an extremely timid yet amorous boy whose throat would close up when attention was thrust upon him. He would gladly have his attention devoted to the things he finds fond to his soul such as his eternal adulation for Jane Austen novels, the verses of sonnets and poems which occupy his restless mind. To put it simply, Indigo balanced out his sister's personality with his own, he was the only one deemed to put up with her hellish mood which seemed to shake the walls of the universe whenever her voice rose in indignation.
It was a blessing in disguise that Indigo inherited patience and a calming aura, many found peace when connecting with the old soul and many would have harboured themselves around him if it weren't for Amber who uprooted their serenity and replaced it with hell in its harshest form.
Fortunately for the Cullens, they have travelled every corner of hell in benefit of trying to understand the nasty mortal whose insight on happiness was to make those around her shrink underneath her imploding reign, along the way they were granted with a small slice of heaven from the oldest Nieves twin.
Unlike his emotionally sightless sister, Indigo metaphorically had a third eye when it came to 'petty emotions', he understood its raw characteristics and the depth of it. He was a breath of fresh air on a humid summer's day and for that, the Cullens could find themselves dealing with Amber.
Due to Amber's intense persona, the Cullens were reluctant on introducing Bella but they deemed that the interaction should happen sooner than later, for Amber would only grow more frustrated at being ostracized from any situations involving Isabella. As of now, Isabella sat amongst the Cullens in their lavish lounge room exhibiting a face full of terror.
She was breathing heavily, not from the heat or fatigue, not from lack of physical capability, but from genuine fear. Edward hadn't held back when explaining what hurricane Bella would meet in a few minutes, a hurricane is what Edward described her but from what Bella was hearing she deemed Amber Nieves was more than just a chaotic natural disaster. She was a catastrophe and Bella was definitely ill-equipped to meet this force to be reckoned with.
"Bella, you look like you're about to pass out." Emmett stated from across the room, he was lounging on a love seat with Rosalie, the latter sending Emmett a flat look before returning her attention to her month's subscription of Motor Trend. Rosalie was surprisingly unbothered by the whole ordeal, deep down she was somewhat concerned but the worry over this entire thing was uncalled for.
Amber Nieves was just a nastier, intimidating and prettier version of Jessica Stanley and if Isabella could plough through Jessica's presence then she would be set for Amber. Rosalie didn't mind the girl, she was a handful, Rosalie couldn't deny that but she had her priorities and ideologies set straight and she wasn't jumping at the first chance of immortality, she loathed it with every fibre in her body and Rosalie respected that.
"Well, she is about to meet my sister." The ever so docile Indigo stated, a kind smile was sent in Bella's direction whose anxiety was so peaked that even Jasper had trouble in making his faux contentment overpower the central emotion wracking through her stiff body, "she's not so terrible if you can put up with her impulse to create chaos at her wake."
"She's Satan reincarnated." Edward reprimed bluntly, eyes flashing in uncharacteristic malice at the attempt of the redemption of Amber Nieves. It still baffled the bronze haired vampire that Esme could still find goodness in that black hole of despair. Alice frequently told him that his dramatic outlook on the mortal was irrelevant but Alice's thoughts avowed otherwise, although less theatrical than his own, Alice also thought that Amber could be uncharacteristically cruel.
Edward still recalled the night that Alice hesitantly told her family that the Nieves twins were expected to stay with them for a while; it caused tension to disperse throughout the room. Frowns were drawn except Emmett whose eyes glistened in mischief at the thought of sharing his terrible jokes that he took the liberty in writing down in his best handwriting.
It seemed nothing could dull Emmett's spirit, which was until Carlisle mentioned that Amber was going to meet Isabella, did it dim fractionally. The burly vampire had a big heart that he could find space in for nearly everyone, even Amber if she desired (but that would never happen because she swore until her last dying breath that if Emmett showed any affection towards her that she will personally make his life more of a living hell), and the thought of Bella, the awkward human who managed to worm herself into his heart, being uncomfortable or in any sort of danger made sometimes tick inside him.
"Talking about her bad characteristics isn't going to help, try stating some decent traits about her that will at least calm Bella down enough that it doesn't fuel Amber's ego." Jasper suggested, his honey blonde hair moving as he inclined his head in Bella's direction, his gaze unwavering on the shaking brunette as he initiated his pathokinesis. With a frustrated sigh, he deemed that there was nothing that he could possibly do to ease Bella's nervousness so he leaned into Alice's side disappointed. Alice only smiled lovingly at her mate and rubbed the small of his large hand with her thumb.
A boisterous snort was emitted from Edward who seemed entirely amused at the thought.
"Don't strain yourselves too much."
"Didn't she help Carlisle that one time at the hospital?" Esme mentioned, her eyes holding this sort of desperation. Carlisle on the other hand sent an apologetic smile to his loving wife who was trying to sway her children's opinions on the human who was due to arrive any second now.
"She only helped so she could witness Mr Brockman's monthly colonic flush, to purely taunt him for suggesting that she wear a smile instead of a scowl."
"Mr Brockman, you mean David who works at the grocery store?" Bella blanched, her eyes widening comically at the thought of the man who always greeted her warmly whenever she rushed into the store to grab last minute shopping.
Bella wasn't sure if the fact that Mr Brockman got monthly colonic flushes or that Amber willingly oversaw the procedure to purely embarrass the man, unsettled her. Amber was shaping up to be a total nightmare who lacked compassion, someone she would never be at ease around.
Carlisle's nod confirmed her answer and Bella face turned starling white. Bella opened her mouth to ask something when the sound of a car door slamming shut made Bella's mind screech to a halting stop. She sent the Cullens a terrified look and they just sent her sympathetic ones albeit Edward who snaked his arm around her waist, a scarily stoic expression resting on his pale features.
The room fell deadly silent at the sound of heels clacking against the marble flooring, the approaching footsteps echoed sharply sounding overly loud in the modern house. Each footfall is spaced sensibly from the last; the rhythm wasn't rushed or hesitant.
Amber Nieves was full of confidence and apparently in no rush to meet the Swan girl, as the clattering noise came to a halt she appeared in the room with her skirt billowing around her legs.
The Cullens were unaffected by her beauty but Bella thought that coffee brown skin never looked so beautiful on a girl. Her hair was a lovely glossy black, the colour of waves at night hitting the sand with a soft hiss. It fell a little past her collarbones and outlined her elven features predominantly. Her lips were a pale fuchsia that reminded Bella greatly of rosebuds, the top lip was slightly thinner than the bottom lip but both large and plush.
But what Bella found herself soaking in was her wide innocent doe like eyes that took up mostly half of her face. Her eyelashes that framed her eyes were thick, black and seemed to flutter like the wings of a butterfly, her irises, however, were a rapturous shade of ochre which held a coruscate gleam that enhanced their beauty.
Amber wasn't beautiful in an orthodox way; she didn't have sinuous golden curls or ivory skin, no piercing eyes of blue, she was shorter than average and thin framed but in her exotic features, she was stunning. And from that Bella was intimidated, in her mind, she pictured Amber to be this large hulking girl with red eyes who spat fire but looking upon the girl now she felt foolish.
Amber was the female replica of her striking brother who rose to his feet at the sighting of his sister.
The foreign girl's eyes scanned the room with upmost determination in search of someone and when her eyes clashed with the awed ones of Bella did they narrow. They were severe, frosty and firm and at that moment Bella knew once more she was the adversary. Her state had no greyscale, only polar extremes existed.
Bella drew in a deep breath, eyes blinking harshly at the burning stare that would last as long as it took Amber to think of the most brutal way of tearing her down from her dais.
"Amber, meet Isabella Swan, Bella meet Amber Nieves." Edward said in a clipped tone, his eyes hardening, rivalling Amber's ones as he delved into her mind. He resurfaced and his face displayed cold fury, Amber only smirked in his direction before sauntering further into the room, dropping her bag on the glass table situated near the archway.
She turned to the girl wedged between Edward and Alice, the smile that lit up her features was the wrong sort; it was like she ran on cold malice instead of any form of genuine affection. She outstretched her palm mockingly in front of her, tilting her head to the side and letting her lips stretch further over her teeth, "Hello brat, I would say it's a pleasure to meet you but then I'd be lying. Welcome to hell."
AUTHORS NOTE: So I've noticed the lack of Felix Volturi fanfictions on here so I decided to write one because why the hell not, yes I know that I have many unfinished fanfictions that I need to get started on but I felt really inspired to start this off. Amber is going to be a cold and harsh character who will probably want to make you want to punch her through the screen, her knowledge of the supernatural will be explained throughout the chapters so stay tuned! And before I close I just want to mention that I adore Bella as a character and the only Bella bashing will be through Amber because she bashes everyone, even her brother so please refrain yourselves from bashing Bella in the comment sections, it's not wanted. Thank you again for reading - comment, vote and follow me!
