40. mean girls dont cry
Alexis was walking. She was walking briskly. After Garcia told her about Amber, she walked right out of school and out through the doors. She couldn't believe what she heard, not even the slightest bit but she just had to take whatever was given to her being that she was desperate to find Amber.
She didn't realize that not long enough she was already passing by the lovers lane park. She shook her head in disbelief.
This can't be real, Garcia must've lied.
She thought. But then again, almost everyone seemed to confirm the story Garcia said. People never said anything to her!
Her mom makes her do it. She heard Garcia's voice in her mind.
Before we spilt up, we were friends. Really good friends.
Alexis shook her head. I knew it, she thought. She knew they were friends before; but what could've happened that made them become so distant to a point where they torment each other?
I don't even know what happened between her and Wendy, but one day Wendy just started hating her.
Garcia's voice played in her mind as she walked along the lovers lane with her head hanging and eyes focusing on the pathway.
What did you do Amber ? Thought Alexis.
Alexis must've been in over head with her thoughts because the next she felt was feeling her head hit against someone's chest.
"Oof-" she huffed and fell on the pathway. "What the hell?" She snapped looking to the person she bumped into.
"I'm genuinely sorry, I really didn't see you th-" The guy said and then paused looking at Alexis.
"You," she said remembering his face.
Hunter smiled. "Me."
He leaned down and tried to pick her up but she got up without taking his hand leaving him feel stupid.
"You okay there?" He asked looking down at Alexis.
She dusted off her clothes and checked her hair before replying. "Now I am."
He nodded his head and stood there feeling the awkward silence fall over the two of them when Alexis sighed remembering how mean she was acting right about now.
"I'm sorry I snapped and kind of rejected you in some way, I was just thinking." She swallowed.
He shook his head making his curls bob. "Nah, it's cool. You were always feisty anyway."
"I'm-" they both said in unison and then stopped looking at each other awkwardly.
This is so stupid, thought Alexis.
He chuckled. "How cliche. Anyway, we really have to stop meeting like this."
She scoffed, "You mean you have to start using your eyes."
He smirked, "I do. Sometimes I just like closing my eyes and you know, walking around. Maybe I'll stand on the bridge and look down to the river in the middle of the nigh-"
"Oh my god," Alexis chuckled. "Really, I wasn't going to jump."
He smirked a little and then it faded making his face become serious. "Be careful though."
She put her lips into a thin line, "Yeah thanks."
They stood there staring at each other for while and then realized that they looked a little awkward so Alexis decided to break the silence.
"Um anyway, I really have to go. I need to go somewhere." She trailed off already walking away.
Hunter nodded his head and smirked, "Hey no worries. A girls gotta go when she gots to go."
She smiled back already a few feet away from him and yelled, "Bye."
Alexis turned around again and headed off to Ambers house, or at least the one Garcia gave her the address too.
