She lived in a house,
yet
she walked the streets at night

(This is a little poem from my new poetry book called "Lost GIRLS" that I will publish soon)

They don't even understand me. They don't even know me, Amber thought rushing out of the girls stall.

"It's ok. You're ok," she lied to herself running her thin hands up and down her arm to rub off the goosebumps that were pricking up.

"Amber," she felt a hand on her shoulder. To her surprise she turned around to find Alexis with a...sad expression?

Alexis looked Amber up and down noticing the dark circles around under her eyes.

She's tired, thought Alexis.

Amber held her gaze for just a second and then turned her head away.

"Amber," Alexis turned her around and held her on both shoulders looking into her eyes, "Are you ok?"

Amber looked at Alexis blankly. Did she just-

"Amber," Alexis said softly, "Are you ok?"

Ambers face softened and then hardened just within seconds and she shoved off Alexis hand that was still on her arm. "Don't try to pretend you care Alexis."

She turned around and walked down the hall. Alexis stood there looking after her retrieving figure.

Why did she think that, when I genuinely care? Alexis questioned.

Come to think of it; Alexis didn't know much about Amber. Even people at school didn't know much about her yet they called her names and said she was a mean bitch and a whore who sleeps with all the guys. Alexis was tired of waiting for Amber to come around; she wanted to find out what really made Amber a bitter person.

And whatever she found; good or bad, she was going to help her. After all, if she couldn't fix her broken self, what was stopping her to help fix Amber?
