She was walking. She knew which road that would lead her home but she didn't take that route, instead she took a different road that was leading to the bridge that overlooked a big river.
It was a big bridge and quite high. She had been going there for quite some time when she couldn't think. The first time she ever discovered that place was when her family and her went out for a drive, the first time they moved there, they had stopped there to take a look. From then on she never stopped going there. It was beautiful. They called that place the lovers lane, because couples would always walk up and down the side walk. They'd even go there where a little painting booth was just beside the bridge, get their palms dipped into paint and then put their palm imprints onto the path.
Wonder how they'd get those out when they spilt, Alexis always thought.
She held the straps of her bag tightly and skipped towards the bridge. It was probably eleven going to twelve and there was only a few lovers sitting on benches beside the bridge and beneath big rain trees. There was still enough people there.
Her mom and dad wouldn't be looking for her: she knew that. They trusted her too much to even think she'd sneak out, and a part of her felt bad for taking advantage of their trust for the past couple of weeks.
She pushed aside the thoughts and finally made her way towards the bridge. She stood behind the railings and looked over. The river below was fast flowing; enough to take you far away from drama and lies. Her dark hair blended well with her dark skin and she stood staring blankly down to the river. The sound of the water flowing filled her ears and she let them take over her mind, filling it with peace. She sighed and threw her bag up onto the surface of the steel railings, big and wide enough for a person to sit on, and climbed after it.
She brought her knees up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees watching the spotlights shine on the river like a moon. She closed her eyes having a moment of peace and quiet. She stood up on the railings making sure that she was holding onto the side bearings. She felt as if she could fly away, feeling as if she could almost kick off the ground and fly until-
"Stop. Please, come down from there."
