Present Day
New York City
To say that I was stressed out would be an understatement right about now. Not only has my stress levels reached its peak, I'm also annoyed and a little upset.
Skye had to cancel at the very last minute due to the fact that Teddy wasn't very well. She didn't want to be that far away from him, worrying about him all day so she decided not to come on the trip.
I guess I'm upset because I wanted to experience New York with her. Hannah isn't bad company, in fact she's great but I wanted my best friend here by my side.
My annoyance has been rising because our first flight out here was cancelled and our second was delayed by a couple of hours.
We have only been at the hotel for 30 minutes and we have to be at the photo shoot location within the next hour to meet the clients and set up the equipment for an early shoot tomorrow morning and i am freaking out.
"Want me to see if there's a Starbucks around here or something? You look like you could use a coffee." Hannah asks as she hands me the tripod to my camera.
"That would be great." I sigh. "Pretty sure I saw a restaurant downstairs as we came in. Surely they sell coffee there, we don't have time for you to be running around the city trying to find something decent." I state as I check over the equipment again to make sure everything is working perfectly.
"Yeah you are right. I'll try to be as quick as possible. In the meantime, take a breather and relax. I know it's been a bit hectic today but you have got this! At least we will be able to get a decent night sleep tonight and fully prepare for the first day tomorrow."
I nod in agreement as I zip up the suitcase and place it by the door ready to go with all the other things.
"Thanks Hannah." I say looking up at her with a slight smile.
"No problem boss." She grins before heading out the door.
I sit myself down on the bed before falling back against the mattress with a thud and stare at the ceiling.
I'm tired from the long flight and I'm beyond nervous. I haven't been on an overseas photo shoot by myself before. I've always had Aaron there for help or moral support.
I miss him and it's only been a day.
I take my phone out of my pocket and decide to give him a call.
"Hey beautiful." His sleepy, raspy voice greets me and I already feel calmer.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you? I forgot about the time differences."
"It's only 10pm but I must have fallen asleep, it's been a long day. How was your flight?" He asks me in almost a whisper.
"Stressful, our first flight was cancelled and the second was delayed, we only arrived at the hotel 45 minutes ago and we have to meet the clients in the next half an hour so it's just been a huge rush. I'm exhausted." I tell him as I stare at the ceiling fan.
"I'm so sorry baby."
"It's okay it's not your fault, I'm just a little nervous I guess, wish you were here with me." I miss him so much, I feel so needy right now.
"I know, I miss you too. There's no need to be nervous, your work is phenomenal. My girl is going to do just great on her own. You don't need me." He reassures me, making me feel a million times better.
"I love you." I declare and I just know he is smiling right now.
"I love you too Ava. Now go and show them how fantastic Reignbow Studios is. Phone me tomorrow to let me know how it goes."
"I will, I miss you. Goodnight."
"Goodnight baby." He says before hanging up the phone. I already want to phone him right back just so I can hear his voice again.
Wow I'm pathetic.
As soon as I put my phone back into my pocket the door opens and in walks Hannah with two coffees in her hand.
"Sorry that took so long. They didn't have caramel latte so I just got you a normal one." She says handing me over a cup. "There was a hot guy standing in line in front of me."
"Oh yeah." A raise my eyebrow signalling for her to tell me more details.
"Yeah. He actually paid for these."
"Did you happen to catch the mysterious guy's name?"
"Erm....it was something like Gary. No it began with H. Henry, I think. I can't remember. He is here on business."
I shake my head in amusement. Typical Hannah behaviour.
"You never know Ava I might get lucky tonight."
"You are not getting lucky in here." I tell her sternly.
"Of course not. He is staying in this hotel somewhere. I'll find out don't worry." She winks at me. "Are we ready to go?"
"Sure."
...
After the taxi went completely the wrong way, which stressed me out even more, we finally made it to the photo shoot location.
It looked like a completely abandoned building, Hannah and I were very sceptical about going in at first, thinking we may have been in the wrong place until the hair stylist came outside to greet us and lead us to the right room.
We were left on our own in a completely, empty room to set up the equipment for tomorrow and were told the clients will come and introduce themselves soon.
"Where do you want the lights?" Hannah asks as she pieces together one of the lamps for me.
"Just in the corner will do for now I'll move it if I have too. Though I'm not sure about leaving all this expensive equipment here overnight." I scan the room feeling a little uneasy about all of this.
"Yeah it is a little weird, take the cameras back with us, you know just incase." Hannah shrugs.
Good idea.
At least if anything happens I will still have my cameras. I still use the one Harry got me a few years ago for Christmas, it's my favourite of them all.
"Miss Reign?" A mans voice calls from behind us making me quickly turn around. "Pleasure to meet you." He walks closer to me and holds out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Mr Green, But you can call me Hunter, I work with Mr Barrow the man who hired your studio for this shoot."
Mr Barrow? That sounds familiar.
"It's nice to meet you. You can call me Ava." I say with a warm smile. "This is my assistant Hannah." I tell him as I look over at Hannah who is fiddling with the ring light before waving like a lunatic.
"Harry will be in a minute, he is just making a phone call."
Harry?
"Can I ask you what the shoot is for exactly? Mr Bow wasn't too clear on the details, he said I was to be told when I got here." I ask, a little excited for what they have in store for me but also a little nervous.
"Of course Miss Reign."
"Ava." I tell him.
"Ava, sorry. It's a photo shoot for Harry's debut album. He hasn't finished it yet, but I have faith in the lad, it should be out in the next couple of months. Now was the only time we could fit you in to do the shoot and you were highly recommended to us."
Debut album?
Either this is just too coincidental or the world hates me right now.
I feel sick.
"Ava's a great photographer, you hired the best." Hannah says from across the room. "She won't let you down."
"Great. Just fair warning though Mr Styles isn't in the greatest mood today so I apologise on his behalf if he comes across as a little rude. I've told him to be on his best behaviour though so it shouldn't be a problem."
As soon as the words 'Mr Styles' falls from Hunter's lips, I felt like my heart stops beating.
Fuck.
"Are you okay? You look like you have seen a ghost. Do you need some water?" Hunter asks me in concern.
"No." I shake my head trying to act as calm as I can even though I'm a complete mess on the inside. "I'm fine thanks." I lie.
I am not prepared to see Harry right now. Or even at all.
"Okay cool. I'll just go and see if Harry is ready I'll be right back."
Shit.
