Women
Okay, so before you read this I would like to say that I wrote this in the Summer of 2017 in this summer program for school that I was in and that's the moment when I fully realized that I was interested in writing about Women's rights. Before, I knew that I was interested in learning and talking about Women's rights but I never exactly knew that I would enjoy writing about it and expressing my feelings towards it. Let me tell you my voice was shaking so much and I was speaking so fast when I had to present it but in the end, I'm glad that I did it so that I can become accustomed to the feeling of presenting. I have presented things many times before that but it was different that time because I was telling and explaining my feelings towards a topic that many people in my school, unfortunately, make fun of. I get nervous before presenting anything but after I finished I felt like I shared knowledge and educated others about the rights of women.
Women
So talented and gifted but yet so finessed.
Being told to return back to the kitchen to do what a woman does best.
Working as hard as you can even harder than the rest,
But yet still underpaid and being valued as their foundation nest.
We're claimed to be equal so why do we still have to protest?
All of these stereotypical expectations cause some emotional stress.
Portrayed in music videos as if women are objects,
When we're more than that, simply intellects.
Scolded for finally taking a long-awaited stand,
Instead of taking flight on our very own land.
We're just trying to have the same rights as a man.
Manipulated minds are like moon crest,
Dark represents the past and light represents today.
You can see the moon crest the most when it's dark but you can also see it when it's light.
Women rights are better today than it used to be in the past.
We still haven't received equal pay in anything and we won't stop until that day.
You can yell, you can scream,
That still won't stop me from having a dream.
Authors Note: Did you miss me? Haha, so I will be generally talking about what I meant by some of the stanzas or lines just in case you're confused. If you have any questions you can just comment below or pm me.
What I meant by Manipulated minds are like moon crest whole stanza is that Women's rights have evolved over time but we still aren't there yet and we have to keep pushing to achieve equality. I noticed many people complaining about "When will feminist ever be happy?" I guess that I was referring to that phrase and elaborating. You can yell and you can scream and that whole line and the one after it is kind of like responding. The people criticizing us for simply wanting equal rights can yell but they can never take away our determination of having equal rights.
