Me or you?
"Me or you? Chose!"
"Never me, you can just forget it, I am not doing it!"
"Choooossseee! I don't want to either," Stomping my foot to the ground to show that I am serious.
"I don't want to do laundry!" Amie whines in response.
In the middle of our debate of who to do the laundry, the television cut on.
"This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill!" I heard Jennifer Fox, the news broadcaster, yell from the TV, " There has been a prison break near the town of Caramel City, I advise everyone to get to their homes immediately and lock their doors and-" Jennifer was cut off by a gunshot, eyes wide, and slumped over her desk.
A prison break!? How in the world could that have happened. I look over to Amie to see she was just as shocked as I was. "Amie, don't be worried, Alright? The prison isn't near us and as long as we stay locked up we are fine." I said with a smile to lessen the tensity in the room.
Amie:
Returning the gesture to my brother, I dashed upstairs to check on Amarie, our younger sister. I found her sleeping- in my room. Never mind that, though. Despite what Aron said, I couldn't help but worry. Mom and Dad are out somewhere and possibly shut off their phones, which they do so often. I'm stuck in the house and without my parents and I'm scared. Scared they won't come back home safe. Scared they won't come back home alive. Or at all.
I mean, my brother is here yeah, but...he can only do so much. These are adult convicts that were put in prison, not jail, prison! For a reason. To take safety precautions, I pick up sleeping Amarie and take her downstairs to the couch in the living room with us. "Hey, I'm going to go get the gun Dad keeps in the locker." My brother said to me with a worrysome face.
Aron:
I told Amie I was going to use the gun that Dad had stored away for emergencies. He shown me how to use it so, I am not a newborn to guns, though the fact that I may actually use it against another person scares me. I run upstairs to our parents master bedroom and get the key out of my mother's jewelry box. Unlocking and opening the safe hidden behind cluttered clothes, I pick up the already loaded hand-gun and a pack of ammunition. *Sigh* "I never thought I would even have to touch a gun outside of a video-game again. Well, theres no time for complaining." "Amie! Make sure everything is locked up!" I yell from downstairs.
I heard shuffling of feet and a few slams and locks being turned into place. "Done!" Amie yelled up the stairs. I ran down with Dad's old Smith and Wesson handgun, already loaded and ready to shoot any intruder. Amie sat on the couch, humming and trying to steel her nerves. I made rounds to everyplace in our two story building.
After making sure everything was in order I regroup with my sisters in the living-room and sit beside sleeping Amarie, she's so cute. "How long has she been sleep?" I ask Amie.
"I honestly don't know, maybe since two?"
Turning my head towards the nearby microwave clock, I see that it is now six P.M. "Is she alright? I know she is a hyper-active child, but she only sleeps this long when we actually have to go to sleep." Placing my hand on Amarie's head I felt the burning heat coming off of her. "No. No no no no! She has a fever! Go get her medicine and ill go get her a moist towel and make soup." Amie nods her head in response and dashes upstairs towards our parents bathroom.
Moments later, Amie cones back downstairs with the medicine and spoon. Sighing, I tried shaking Amarie awake. She groaned, but didn't wake. I tried again, this time a little more forceful.
"Mm, I want to sleep..... " she groaned.
"Come on, Amarie. You're sick and need medicine. "I said gently. She slowly opened her tired looking eyes, upset she had to be sick.
"But why? " Amarie inquired. I didn't answer, just sat her up and signaled Amie to feed her the medicine. Amarie took the spoonful, and a disgusted look came across her face.
"This tastes gross. " Amarie announced. Amie and I laughed a bit, until Amarie got a look at the gun I forgot I was holding.
"Why...do you have that big bro?" Amarie says, pointing towards the gun my big bro had.
Crap, I don't know what to say. If I tell her what is going on, it might scare her and cause her to panic. I swallow then force out some words, "Uh...I"
"Big bro is going to play a video game!" Amie said cutting me off. I am glad Amie said that, because I did not know what to say and since Amarie is so young, she would take the lie anyway.
"Ohhh, then kill the bad guys Big bro! Pew pew!" Amarie said so happily.
Amarie:
I heard the T.V, I wasn't fully asleep. My family treats me like a baby even though I am nine and a half! I know Big bro has that gun to protect us. I am so scared, where are Mommy and Daddy? They are never here! Yuck! That medicine taste is still in my mouth. Thankfully Big bro saved the day making me his yummy homade soup!
"Here Amarie." Big bro says to me, handing over a bowl of his homeade soup!
I grab the soup and slurp it down. It is so good!
"Hehe, you really love my soup don't you?" Big bro says to me.
"Yes! I love my wholllleee family too!"
