Love y'all ❤️ Lemme shut up and get to the story↓

This was your dream job. You had always wanted to work close to the music business. You started out as the usual secretary but now you were the assistant to one of the top managers at Syco. You loved every part of your job. Well...almost all of it. The only part you hated was your boss, Mark. He was the biggest jerk ever. He'd always point out your flaws and make you do the impossible. It was a lot of stress, but you had always tried to focus on the good aspects of your job.

You had came into work today with the biggest smile on your face, and your head held high. You don't know what it was, but you just knew today was gonna be different from the rest. You walked into your office wearing this:

Your friend, Alicia who took your place as secretary when you got promoted to assistant, gawked at you. "You look amazing, hun!" "Thank you, I just felt like trying something different today." "It's soooo working!!" You laughed. "Oh, by the way, Mark wanted to talk to you about something. He told me to tell you as soon as you clocked in." "Okay, thanks Li!" You gave her a small wave as you walked off to Mark's office. You reached his door and you hadn't even gotten the chance to knock before you heard Mark yelling someone's ear off on the phone. You gave the door a small knock anyway. "Come in!" You opened to see Mark furiously making a note of something on his legal pad. "You wanted to see me, Mark?" "Oh yeah. I got a meeting with Prettymuch this afternoon, so when they get here, I need for you to greet them, give them some paperwork before I come in. I have a call right before the meeting." "Alrighty!" "Oh, and don't mess it up this time. Or there's your job." He gave you the most crooked and evil smirk. You half smiled and turned around to exit the office, rolling your eyes knowing he couldn't see you. Ughh, you could just strangle him. But you couldn't wait for this meeting today. You absolutely adored Prettymuch. They were one of the reasons you got so interested in the music business. Every beanz had their lane. Yours was Mr. Mara himself. You loved Nick, and everything about him. You had always wanted to meet him. You've always come close to. But it never happens. But today, it FINALLY will.

You were busy setting up the room where the meeting was gonna take place. You were setting up donuts, candy, water and tea on the table. You had also put out coffee too, specifically for Nick since you knew he was obsessed with coffee. You were trying to calm your nerves. You were getting all bubbly and anxious, knowing that any minute now, you would be shaking hands with the boys of Prettymuch. While you were putting the finishing touches on the table of sweets, the phone on the way started ringing. You picked it up,"Hello?," you answered. "Hey girl, Prettymuch is here, should I send them to the conference room now?", Alicia asked. "Sure, send them in!" You hung up and tried to steady your breathing. "Breathe Y/N, breathe. You got this!", you said, giving yourself a little pep talk.

You were looking at your phone, when there was a knock. "Uhm excuse me, are we in the right place?" You heard a familiar voice and looked up from your device and locked eyes with your favorite group ever. "Oh yes, yes you are. Hi, my name is Y/N, and I'm Mark's assistant. He'll be here in a few minutes, he's just finishing up a conference call. Please help yourself to some refreshments!" You shook hands with each of the members; first Zion, then Brandon, then Austin, next Edwin, and finally Nick Mara. When you shook hands, he turned your hand over and gave it a lingering peck. He's never seen someone as beautiful as you. You blushed and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. "Damn, not even in here a minute, and Nick's already tryna spit game!" You all laughed. Nick winked at you and sat down between Edwin and Zion. "Oh before I forget, Mark wanted me to give you this paperwork to look at before he comes in," you said as you passed out a copy of the paperwork to each of them. "Thanks!", they all said in unison. You smiled. You held an actual conversation with your idols and didn't pee your pants. Score for you.

5 minutes had went by and Nick was still so captivated by you. The way you walked, the way you spoke, the way you smiled. He fell in love even though he had only known you for about 10 minutes. He secretly hoped that you were his favorite out of the band. You were just straightening up while the boys were talking to you about random stuff and you couldn't help but notice how Nick was staring at you. Normally, guys doing that would freak you out, but you WANTED Nick to stare at you. You were so caught up in the boys company that you didn't hear Mark enter the room. "Y/N!! What the hell do you think you're doing. In my list of instructions, I didn't ask for you to flirt with my clients." "Mark I wasn't flirting, I was just-." " Save it, I don't wanna hear it. I'm sorry that she was such a burden on you." You felt your face getting hot with embarrassment. But his attacks didn't stop there. "And you gave them the wrong paperwork?? Jeez, you're so fucking useless!" He rolled his eyes at your "carelessness" and ordered you to go retrieve the paperwork from his office. You tried your hardest not to burst out into tears right then and there. All the boys felt so bad for you, especially Nick. He didn't understand why Mark was treating you so bad, and why he called you a burden. You were everything but. Him and the boys enjoyed your company. You made them feel welcome. Nick knew you didn't deserve that at all. You came back into the room with the correct paperwork and passed it out. When you got to Nick, he mouthed 'sorry' to you. You gave him a sad smile and made your way back to Mark to take notes of the meeting.

You had went a whole hour in the meeting without being insulted by Mark. You figured his outburst was over. How wrong you were. "Y/N, did you change my appointment tomorrow on Friday from 11 to 2?" "No Mark, you never asked me to do that." "Uh yes I did. Not my fault you have cotton between your ears so you can't hear me." He lets out an exasperated sigh. Nick was slowly but surely getting pissed off, as were the rest of the boys. It made him so mad to see you being degraded and insulted for little mixups. "Did you at least send those invitations out for the release party?", Mark asked, annoyed. You gave a confused look. "I didn't send them. You told me not to-." His head whipped around. You could tell he was furious. "YOU DIDN'T SEND THEM??" He stood up coming closer to you. "Yeah, you said you were gonna-." While you were trying to explain, Mark started chuckling darkly. "Wow I actually can't believe this. To think...you couldn't more DISAPPOINTING!!" With one swoop of his hand, all your notes went flying out of your hand any onto the floor. "Get out of my face, you're fired!!" "But-" " Nope Y/N, I don't want to hear it, NOW GET OUT!!!" You couldn't stop the tears from coming anymore. You picked up your notes, your hands shaking.  The tears had actually fallen from your eyes by now. You tried to make no eye contact with any of the Prettymuch boys. But your eyes drifted towards Nick, and he gave you such a sympathetic look. You got out of the room as fast as you could and make your way to your desk. Meanwhile, in the other room, Nick was about ready to chew Mark's head off for treating you that way. "Yo dude, was that really necessary? You've been treating her bad this entire meeting." Mark rolled his eyes and said, "Hey, if she can't do the job, she can't do the job." Nick scoffed in disbelief, "Oh is that so? 'Cause she was doing an excellent job of taking care of things before you got here. And she had a handle on things while you were here too. She seems like a very special person, NOT a person to take advantage of and humiliate just because you're her boss." "You don't know what you're talking about. Have a seat, kid." "Oh, 'kid'?" Nick stepped up to Mark, ready to punch his lights, but Zion pulled him back. "I'll be right back." Nick stormed out of the meeting to try and find you.

You had started packing your belongings into a box, taking the occasional break to wipe your tears. You hadn't believed this day went south so fast. You had walked in here, tall and proud, and now you were walking out for good. And on top of that, your celebrity crush and idol had just witnessed your boss make a complete fool of you. You heard a knock on the door to your office. "Come in," you say, your voice shaking. "Hey, are you alright?" You turned around and saw Nick come in. Just looking at his face was enough to have your busting into more tears, knowing he had witnessed your humiliation first hand. " Yeah, I'll be fine," you lied. Nick walked closer to you, putting his arms around your back, pulling you into a hug. You stiffened a little at first, surprised that THE Nick Mara was hugging you. You relaxed in his arms and hugged him back. You forgot how long you were standing there, hugging each other, but it had to be at lest 5 minutes. When you drew back, you looked Nick in the eye and thanked him for being so kind.  "Don't worry about it, ma. I figured you were still shook up about how that asshole treated you. You're more than that. You're everything he said you weren't." You couldn't believe Nick was being so sweet to you. To think you couldn't be any more attracted to him. You gave Nick a small peck on his cheek. He smiled, and put his hands on your waist. "Do you wanna go out sometime?" You stood there, shocked by the question Nick just asked. You can't understand why he'd want to go out with someone like you. Unfortunately, he took your shock the wrong way. "Oh my God, never mind. I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable." He turned to leave but you stopped him. "No Nick, I'd love to go out with you. You just caught me off guard a little bit." "Oh thank God, I got scared." You two hugged as tightly as you did before. Nick Mara had managed to truly make you realize your worth. Maybe losing your job would be for the better.
