I was playing baseball when I looked at my watch. 2:45.

"I gotta go guys. I'm playing hockey with Mendoza." I said.

"Who's that?" Squints asked.

"Bennys cuz. I gotta go later." I said.

Then I went home got my skates and put on my jersey over my red shirt. Valley Cougar. I went to Bennys house and knocked on the door. Luis answered.

"Lets go." I said. He told everyone where he was going then we went to the rink.

"Alright. Show me how fast you are." I said.

"You got it." He said. He was freaking fast! But only one problem. He ran into the wall.

"What was that Mendoza?" I asked helping him up.

"I don't exactly know how to stop." He said. I laughed.

"Ha ha very funny. Now show me your best moves." He said. I grabbed a stick and did my famous move. It went so hard it moved the net.

"Damn." He said.

"Thanks." I said. We played for a few hours.

"I gotta get going." I said.

"Okay. Lets go." He said. We walked home. We said bye then he went into Benny's house. 

I walked into the house. I helped my mom make dinner. Once we sat down the phone started ringing.

"I'll get it." Mom said. A few minutes later mom called me over.

"Alana! It's for you!" She said. I grabbed the phone.

Hello?

Is this Alana McClellan?

Yes.

We want you on our USA hockey team.
You-You-You what?

We want you to represent your country and compete for the gold.

This is such a great opportunity. Can I think about it?

Of course. We need your feedback by two days. Practice starts next week in Michigan.

Then they hung up.

"What was that?" Yeah Yeah asked.

"I just got an offer to represent our country in the USA hockey team!" I said happily.

"Thats great!" Ma said.

"Yeah Yeah great." Yeah Yeah said.

"Are you gonna do it?" Ma asked.

"I don't know. I'd have to see what my friends think." I said.

"Well, whatever you choose I support you." She said.

"Thanks Ma." I said then continued to eat. After dinner I tried to get to sleep, but I was so excited!

The Next Day

I walked over to Benny's house. Luis and his parents had already left.

I knocked on the door. His mom answered.

"Hi. I need to talk to Benny." I said.

"Okay, come in. He's in the kitchen." She said. I walked in and went up to him.

"Hey." He said.

"I have to tell you something." I said.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Um actually. I'd rather tell everyone. When we get to the Sandlot." I said. Then we walked to the Sandlot.

"Hi." Angie said.

"I have to tell you guys something." I said excitedly.

"What?" Mary asked.

"I've been chosen to represent our country! In the USA hockey team!" I said. Everyone's faces fell.

"Are you gonna do it?" Benny asked.

"I don't know. Do you guys think I should?" I asked.

"Alana, I think you need to do this. It's a great opportunity for you." Olana said.

"Don't go." Benny said. I looked at him.

"What?" I asked.

"Don't go. You can't." He said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because. Your friends are here Alana." He said.

"Benny, this could be life changing! I think I have to do it." I told him.

"Then you can't have me. It's either me or hockey." He said.

"What? Why are you doing this?" I asked stepping away from him.

"Choose." He said.

"Fine. I choose....." I looked at my friends.

"Hockey. I have to do this." I said.

"Then I'm breaking up with you." He said.

"Fine!" I yelled.

"Fine!" He said.

"I've gotta get packing. Practice starts in Michigan. I need to be there in two days." I said then walked off to home.

"Mom?" I asked.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"I'm going!" I said.

"I'm so happy for you!" She said. I hugged her.

"Well, I gotta get packing. I've gotta be in Michigan by Thursday." I said. I called the people and told them I'd be there. Then I started packing.
