God it was cold!

"Benny, I wore shorts on the wrong day!" I said.

He took off his jersey and put it on me. It was the tattered one. The day he became Benny 'The Jet' Rodriguez.

"How are we gonna tell Lydia?" I asked.

"I don't know. I don't want to hurt her." He said.

"I don't either. Let's get Squints to ask her out!" I joked. He laughed.

"Come on, be serious." He said elbowing me.

"Look, let's just say I'm sorry, but he chose me." I said.

"I don't know. We'll figure it out." He said then put his arm around me.

We walked into the Sandlot. Lydia was already there. And she saw us.

"So you chose." She said.

"Yeah. I'm sorry for leading you on, Lydia. But I did like you." He said.

"It's fine. You chose. I'm okay." She said.

"Friends?" We asked.

"Friends." She said. I went and played.
"Ham your up!" I yelled with the ball in hand.

I started with my curve ball. Strike one. Fast ball. Strike two. Heater. Homer.

"Ham! Would ya stop with the heaters! Now we can't play." I said.

"It's not my fault I'm bitchin'." He said. I rolled my eyes.

"It was cold anyway." Squints said.

"Hmm. Really?" I said sarcastically.

"Let's just go hang at the diner." Denunez suggested.

"Fine. Let's go." I sighed. We walked to the diner.

Once we got there we all got into the booth. We ordered.

"So, what are you guys doing for thanksgiving?" I asked.

"The usual." Mary said.

"Me too." They all said. That was an interesting conversation.

We ate, then we went to the skating rink.

I put on my skates. Then fell.

Benny chuckled and helped me up.

"I can't skate. Don't judge." I said.

"I won't. Cause it means you can just hold onto my hands." He said. I smiled and grabbed his hands.

I saw Yeah Yeah talking to Lacey Peffercorn.

"Hey, Ben. Wanna go spy?" I asked.

"Duh." He said. We sat behind them listening.

"Do you wanna go out?" Lacey asked him. Benny had to put his hand over my mouth to keep me from screaming, Say Yes!

"Sure." He said. Yes! She walked away and we went up to Yeah Yeah.

"What was that about?" I asked casually.

"Lacey Peffercorn just asked me out." He said.

"Y-Y-Y-Yay!" I yelled. Everyone stared at me. Benny laughed.

"Yeah yeah be cool." He said.

"I can't! My brothers got a girlfriend." I said.

"Come on, Lans. Don't embarrass him." Benny said.

"Oh, fine." I grumbled then skated away.

We hung out there until it got dark. Yeah Yeah, Squints and I walked home.

"How the hell did you get a Peffercorn before me?" Squints asked. I smirked.

"I don't know Squints. If anything your ten times more attractive then Yeah Yeah. You should Ask Wendy out." I said.

"I know I am. How could this even happen?" He asked. Yeah Yeah and I shrugged.

Squints went to his house.

"He's so delusional." I said.

"Yeah Yeah he is." He said.

We walked home and I went to bed.
