I'M BACK FROM NYC, BIT*HES!!!
Yep! I'm back in U.K. from NYC, and yes, you heard me right! I was in New York City for a week, so if you live in NYC, then you possibly have seen me... or not since I'm not all over the place.
Because I went there, here is my review... it's... as my dad said, "The greatest disappointment I ever felt," and honestly... I have to agree with him, especially the majority of the foods we eaten.
Don't get me wrong, there is some good things like the visuals, but sadly... the cons outweighs the pros.
Now, let me explain from a British foreigner's POV. Firstly, getting to the subway is a pain in the ass because the lines is so confusing, especially with the whole " 'Random number' street" (I know some streets are named, but still) and the swiping the card thing is pretty annoying as well, since in the U.K., you just get a Oyster card or a Freedom pass, add some money to it (Though, you don't need to add money to a freedom pass as if you have it, it's free. How comes not many people use it? To be honest, I have no idea) and push it on a large yellow button and that's it.
Second, the roads is large, but so chaotic that I often hear honking and quite noisy, then considering I'm autistic, it makes me feel a little uncomfortable. Not to mention I see some cars move a bit even though clearly people is moving through the road. I guess the lights is... actually, I'm not sure how to describe it. But, I do see it happen though. Thankfully, nobody died in front of me.
Thirdly... the stuff is disgustingly expensive. It's around 40 dollars for a new pair of trousers and even the foods are guilty of this as well, which brings to my fourth problem.
The foods is honestly disappointing. Of course, I haven't eaten ALL of the foods. Just a few, but even then... the foods are a bit on the big side (even though my dad think they're the same size of the foods in Britain), expensive and most of the time, don't taste very good while at best, it's about a 3.5/5.
With KFC, it's the worst offender with its very disappointing and oddly shaped chicken popcorns, though the norm chicken taste the same as home, so the chicken is the only food we enjoyed.
With Pizza Hut, it taste good, even though my dad doesn't really like it due to how much cheese it has. Though, the pizza there doesn't come close to back home.
With McDonalds, the chicken nuggets taste the same as home, though it feels a bit smaller, which is ironic. And the chips taste the same, even though it's a bit bigger despite being medium sized. However, the first time I ate a burger there, it tasted horrible, though it has to do with the mustard and those... weird light brown, small bits in it then anything else.
Thankfully, just yesterday, before we went on the plane, we decide to eat at McDonalds and double check for the burger to not have those two things, which thankfully, they didn't add those two. Even though it has two patties, it still taste decently good, but does have too much grease though, judging by how "shiny" it is, unlike home where the patties have some grease, but not the same amount as the patties in NYC.
In one Chinese restaurant, we were hungry and was in Chinatown, so we decide to go for a meal. We were given two choices; soup or barbecue... we choose the soup and me, along with Dad, regret that choice. It turns out, we're supposed to add the foods we ordered into the soups we choose. Considering all of them are still frozen or raw, we have to put them in. I put the foods in the original soup to avoid the flavour getting ruined... that was stupid of me because the foods doesn't taste good, even the mini sausages doesn't taste that good.
So, I just play Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS while my parents are eating.
The only foods that I considered pretty good are the hot dogs, the tortilla chips with salsa and the taco I just tasted the day before I go to the airport to go home.
Now... while the majority of people there are pretty nice, there was one asshole who I unfortunately met on my first day. In the station while my parents were trying to figure the map, I decide to sit down because my feet was hurting pretty badly, and then, I noticed that fucker just scratching his belly and looks like he haven't shower since ever... of course, being a naive idiot who thinks I should never judge a book by its cover I am, I decide to sit even though my guts are telling me not to. Though the furthest away from due to the trashes on the other seat, possibly by him.
I tried to get my phone to connect to the WiFi and I heard him saying "Fuck off" even though I wasn't doing anything! Just before you say, "But what if he's directed to someone else?" Nope! Because there's very few people there and he was clearly saying that to me while scratching his disgusting belly.
Even though I wish I stand up for myself and tell him off, I decide to just walk away to my parents and went downstairs further to the station, which I heard him laugh at me. Which only make me regret my decision more and wanting so badly to just punch him in the face. Fuck the police! That asshole deserve it!
But... the past is the past, so I'll just move to the pros and the differences between NYC and my home.
The pros is the visuals, even though it's busy and the buildings are so big that looking up on it is enough to make feel a bit busy. It's still amazing to look at.
The museums are pretty cool too, especially one with a Harry Potter section, though twice we wasn't able to go because the first time, we were late and the second time, it was Monday, so it's close, which is a bit disappointing, though I have taken a few pictures of it, so hopefully you New Yorkers know what's this museum's name is.
I got those pics around the Central Park.
So... now to the things I find a bit odd as a foreigner, even though I watch a lot of American shows and movies when I was younger.
- I see a lot of school buses in NYC while back home, we don't have any of those. We just either take a normal bus, a car, underground/overground trains, use a bike or just walk to school.
- The normal buses there are small, white and long, unlike home where the buses are like the tour buses, except it has a roof and all over it is bright red, no yellow and stuff.
- There's the station thing I mention with the cards, so I don't need to explain myself again.
- The foods there are either very greasy looking, don't taste that good or too cheesy looking. Of course, I'm sure those are delicious ones out, but because I only stayed there for a week, I'm just going to say the ones I have eaten. Though, the tortilla chips and taco is pretty good.
- There's so many Mexican restaurants like Taco Bell and much more, though back home, there's very few and not many.
I think that's all I could say. Now, don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying "Oh! Don't go to NYC because it sucks!" No, far from that! I'm just telling from my experience and my opinion is just so you guys understand from a British foreigner's POV.
There's more differences between America and Britain, but those ones are for another time.
For the people waiting for an update on the stories, I'll start updating tomorrow and the first would be Renegade Zim, and the others except Forbidden Mixed Love and Devil Mystery because I'll update those on Saturday and Friday respectively.
I hope you guys enjoyed this review. Have a good day. Aqua out!
