Funny Story of my Dad playing Fire Emblem Three Houses
So... I managed to get my dad to play Fire Emblem yesterday... and honestly, it is both hilarious and frustrating at the same time.
He is playing Normal-Classic mode and named his character... Red... yes... Red.
We watch the beginning cutscene, where Seiros stabs Nemesis, as he looks at me and says "... It's just a game, Aqua..." (PS He doesn't actually call me Aqua, but I don't like revealing my real name). Which is ironic because I was going to say the same thing. He is a massive fan of Game of Thrones, and told him it's little similar to it, so that's why.
So, we see Sothis and my dad asks "Is she a queen? A princess?", then he joked I'm sleepy like her and the fact she's making him yawn.
I didn't say anything, I want to see his reactions. Honestly, when we get the gameplay... he is a very slow learner. I tried explaining to him such as you can only move a certain amount, terrains effects and so on, but he doesn't get it till I compare it to chess. Which... he sort of gets.
When we got to the exploring part, he couldn't get the walking around very well, even worse with the camera control, so I offer to help with the camera. I told him to do certain things like accept quests and talking to students. Like I said, he's a very slow learner and not the best at English.
Of course, we went through the characters of different houses, where he compared me to Linhardt as I'm sleepy as well and only do things that I'm interested in.
He also asks me what's commoner is? (He's not a native English speaker) so I explained to him that commoner are like us, which he gets. I also start explaining their personal abilities and their stats a little to him, where he chuckles at Claude's description of Hilda.
When he meets Sylvain and realised he's a womaniser (From Dimitri's description and my explanation), he told me to stay away from him, which make me burst into laughter since I played as female and I always recruit him right away, though I never told him that.
When the choice comes up, he picks the Golden Deer, which surprises me as I picked the Golden Deer as well for my first try. My dad joked we are very similar for our choices.
When we get to the mock battle, I explained to him he doesn't need to worry of losing any units since this is only practice, we only need to worry about Claude and Red/Byleth.
We almost died in that battle, but thanks to Marianne's healing and the vulneraries, we managed and defeated everyone.
After that, dad has to go (It was 8PM before we know it) and told me it's a fantastic game, but it's so much characters and mechanics that he's amazed that I can remember all this and yet, unable to remember the simplest of things such as working on a washing machine (There's so many buttons, okay!).
Now, he is starting to call me mastermind and very proud of how I can remember something "complex" as this game since he now knows why I have excellent English compared to their "good" English.
You can imagine, at first, I was pretty nervous, but now, I feel both happy and frustrated cuz of the amount of times I have to explain to him about the most basic controllers despite the fact I love him.
I hope you guys enjoyed this little story of mine and if you did, leave a comment and have a good day, my guild. Aqua out!
