I finally finished the Blue Lions Route just yesterday and holy crap, it was awesome! Honestly, this has to be my favourite route plot-wise and... sorry Claude, but Dimitri is my favourite Lord for just many reasons.

I will talk about the ones I have used on my playthrough and the plot as well.

(SPOILERS ALERT!!!)

Dimitri has to be one of the best lords I seen in years. A lot of the previous lords of his archetype tend to be normal princes/noblemen who is caring and compassionate towards others, but not much else honestly, but then Dimitri decides to say "Fuck that!" and become one of the more complex lords alongside his step-sister, Edelgard.

Dimitri has one of the most awesome character development ever. Started out from your typical lord, then after chapter 10, snapped after finding out the truth about the Flame Emperor, who is his step-sister, becoming a bit more violent.

After the timeskip, he become so much more aggressive and vengeful to the point he is willing to kill anybody who is in his way, or torture them just like he was about to do to a general until Byleth gives him a swift death.

After the battle in Grouder, the general's sister attempted regicide on Dimitri for the death of her brother, until Rodrigue, Felix's father, got in the way to save him. I cried a little when that scene happen, especially seeing Dimitri crying for witnessing the death of his father-figure.

Then comes my favourite scene, where Dimitri, standing in the rain, clearly traumatised from nine years called the Duscar incident, where many people of Duscar died, along with his parents and he was there as a child. He asked Byleth if he deserved a better life as a sole survivor, if he really has to right to live the way he wants after he lived and everyone else dies, and the fact his sole reason to live beforehand is for vengeance for the dead.

Byleth told him to live for what you believe in, which made Dimitri chuckle since that's Rodrigue's last words to him as well. She (I pick female) extended her hand to him and Dimitri accepted, mentioning how frail and warm they are. Keep in mind, Dimitri hates fragile things because they break, but those "fragile" hands are what saved him.

Now, he become more remorseful and almost back to his old self, where he went back to the kingdom to bring it back from Cornelia, one of the villains and member of the Empire.

I married him after the war because Dimitri deserved to be happy for once in his life and needs to be loved so badly for fuck sake! Thus, made me angry at Edelgard for being too stubborn and the fact she become a disgusting husk just for her future. Which will be emotionally difficult for me to play her Route.

Also, I shipped F!Byleth X Dimitri. Bite me! Now to the other characters.

- Mercedes: Arguably the best healer of the game thanks to her personal skill, that allows her to heal herself when healing others and her crest conserve her usage of white magic. Making her the perfect healer. She's also such a sweetheart and adorable that I want to hug her so badly and protect her with my life if possible.

- Felix: An amazing assassin for me as he crits a lot, and I mean A LOT! Combine that with a brave sword, a killing edge and his hero relic, the Aegis shield, then boi, you better run! He's also one of the three boys I wanted to marry as he subconsciously reminds me of my boyfriend, since he's an blunt motherfucker who says what's on his mind and his desire to become stronger is also similar as well.

- Ashe: A precious cinnamon roll who wants to be a knight and one of the three choices I wanted to marry. He is very sweet and adorable with his freckles that I want him to marry Ingrid, who shares the same dream as him. He is also a very good sniper/Bow Knight for me as he crits... a lot!

- Annette: The cutest little Mage that will fuck you shit up with wind magic. She is studious, intelligent and clumsy girl who is pretty restless and doesn't know how to relax. She is also a amazing Mage user and a Gremory.

- Dedue: A loyal best friend/retainer to Dimitri and a gentle giant as he appears scary, but just not very talkative and actually a sweetheart as he is considered a great cook and very good with plants. He is a very tanky armoured unit that he's good with physical attacks, but... make sure to not get him near a Mage.

- Slyvain: Or, the "Skirt-chaser" as Dimitri called him. He started out meh, but after he become a cavalier, he started to become good, especially since he crits a lot thanks to giving him a killer lance, the Lance Of Ruins And a Sliver Lance as well. On the surface, he's a ladies' man who doesn't care about the consequences and childish as well, but deep inside, he actually doesn't care for the women who throw themselves at him and hates the crest he bares because his older brother hates him for it and the pressure he gets from his family.

- Ingrid: She started out meh as well, but become a awesome Pegasus Knight with Lúin, her hero relic. She is a honourable and tomboyish young noblewoman who dreams of being a knight, but bears the burden of trying to marry a very wealthy nobleman, as her family, despite being nobles, are actually quite poor and she's the only one in her family who bears a crest.

Of course, this is from my personal experience. Don't take my experience as words of Seiros or something, just pick a class that fits your style.

Also, I only recruited Marianne as an second healer and her Silence magic is useful for Dedue considering his horrible resistance.

Honestly, this game focuses on Dimitri's character development and very good for a first playthrough since it doesn't reveal too much about the Church of Seiros and suspense of why the war happened.

Now, onto to the Black Eagles and I will try to recruit the best ones from both Golden Deer and Blue lions thanks to my personal experience. The Black Eagles route are going to emotionally destroy me, I just know it!
