Dex POV #1
So this is the first of many alternate POVs I have for this fanfic. This was requested by Sokeefefangurl
Thanks for the idea, and I hope you all enjoy it!
Section from fanfic - I stare into Dex's periwinkle eyes as he starts the timer. He has one minute to get into the machine with me and we can go away together. But then they find us. I feel like I'm going to throw up as the leading members of the Neverseen step into view. I wish away the flood of painful memories of the things they've done to me and Dex. And Grady and Edaline. And Fitz, Biana, Tam, Linh, Alden, Della, Marella, Jensi, and everyone else I care about. Even Stina got taken just so they could get to me. I remind myself that things here are beyond repair, and that I can make this all stop for another version of me in another universe.
"DEX STOP!" I plead as he makes that face he always does when he's about to do something incredibly stupid. He looks back at me, and runs towards me, but instead of climbing into the machine with me, he slams the thing shut! "DEX WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET IN HERE, YOU'RE ALMOST OUT OF TIME!". He looks at me and mouths "I'm sorry," as he charges towards the evil elves. The capsule starts to fade with me in it, but not him. Him struggling to retain them so I can escape is the last thing I can see before passing out for my trip through the multiverse.
Dex’s pov - Lori is waiting for me in the machine. I start the timer, and actually start to hope that we can escape this place. Then my hope is crushed when I see the Neverseen leaders step out. I look back at Lori. I have to get her out of here, and away from them
“DEX, STOP!” She cries. She knows me too well. I run towards the machine, and slam the door. It muffles her voice, but I can tell that she’s mad. Hopefully the note in my bag will be enough.
“I’m sorry.” I say, even though she can’t hear me. “You won’t get her again.” I tell them.
“Oh but we will. That little machine of yours won’t stop us from getting to her.”
“I think it will.”
“She can’t stay in there forever.”
“She won’t. You’re too late.” The timer goes off, and they all lunge towards me, and the machine behind me. I may be sentencing myself to a lifetime of misery here without her, but she can’t stay. She’ll be safe there. I tell myself.
“What have you done?!” One of the hooded figures cries.
“I sent her somewhere you’ll never reach her again.”
“Don’t bother worrying about it. Now she can’t stop us from taking over.”
“But she also-” another member starts to protest.
“Doesn’t matter. If she’s not in the way, we can do it. It will still make everything easier for us. Now kill him”
