Biana POV #1

This was suggested by my wonderful irl friend who got me into this series, but isn't allowed to have an account. You know who you are. Also, this is from the very beginning when Lori is staying at Everglen.

Someone knocks on my door. I assume it's mom, since I think she just got home. Maybe she got me that new eyeshadow palette I wanted.
"Come in!" I say. To my surprise, it's the new girl who opens the door. What was her name?
"Hey…" She says, kinda quietly. She's wearing a gorgeous punk gown.
"Lori!" That's her name. "You look beautiful." She blushes.
"I was actually wondering if you could help me with my hair and makeup? I know that the you in my universe really liked giving makeovers, and was really good at them too…"
"I thought you'd never ask!" Apparently she isn't EXACTLY like Sophie. I start combing the knots out of her curly brown hair. It's a lot like mine, but shorter. And curlier. It's actually really pretty. And it turns out that I have WAY more products made for curly hair than someone who's hair is only wavy should. I'm not sure how to start a conversation, so it's quiet for a while. Then, she says the one thing that could get me talking for hours.
"So, obviously I'm new here." She says as I start on her makeup. "I'm officially putting you in charge of catching me up on all the gossip."
"You mean like the daring and crush stuff?"
"Mhm. I want to know everything I missed."
"Then we'll be here a while." I giggle. It's almost ridiculous how bad our group is at picking up on even the most obvious hints.
"Don't tell me everyone here is just as oblivious as they were in my universe."
"They're probably worse," she admits. "Let's start with just our group, though that's probably the worst. Sophie is still head over heels for my brother, even though they dated for a while and she was the one to break them up. And of course he can't see that. I know he still likes her too though, and it takes everything I have not to just sit them down and tell them they are meant for each other. By the way, they're cognates, as Fitz will mention any time you try to split them up. Anyways, Keefe also likes Sophie, and of course she can't see that. Fitz also likes Linh, but I'm trying to gently guide him towards Sophie, because Tam probably won't let Linh date, so asking her out is asking for heartache. Although sometimes I do think Tam likes someone, I just can’t tell who. And I think that's all the drama that's going on right now." Am I ranting now? Oops. I just trust her a lot, even though this is the first time we've talked. "Oh, can I trust you not to tell who I like? I really need to tell someone, and Fitz will probably kill him, and Sophie's always busy being the moonlark, and…"
"You can trust me." She says, smiling.
"It's Keefe. But his creepy mom did something to him so he can 'fulfill his Legacy' and he's been passed out at Havenfield for days." And Sophie will probably get him anyway…
"She did that to him here too?!" She looks mad about it, but I don't think it's at Sophie for failing to stop her.
"Unfortunately." I apply a little blush, then notice something on her face. Almost like a sticker. "What's this?" I ask, peeling it back.
"Nothing!" She cries, but it's too late. I had already peeled it back to reveal a scar in the exact shape of the pendants from the Black Swan.
"Who did this to you? And don't bother lying. Remember that I have scars too." I gesture to my neck and shoulders, where I have scars from when Vespera shoved me into a mirror.
"I'll tell you while you work." She says. I want to sit on my bed, and make her sit next to me, and give her a giant hug while she tells me what happened, but that might weird her out. So I put the weird sticker back on, and it looks like it melts into her skin. "So I assume that Sophie had an encounter with Keefe a few years ago before he joined the Neverseen, right? And they asked him to brand her with the pendants the Black Swan gave us?"
"I think she did see him. She doesn't talk much about it, but I know she doesn't have any scar from it. Did you Keefe actually do it?"
"No. And that's why I have it. He… he said he wouldn't, so they held him back and did it to me anyways. They knocked me out… and by the time someone found me, the damage was permanent."
"I'm so sorry." I say, wrapping her up on a hug. I put one final bobby pin in, and her hair is done.
"I'll be right back." She gets up, and comes back a second later with a hair pin. "Can you put this in my hair?"
"It's so pretty! Of course I can." I quickly put it in, completing the look. "Where did you get this?"
"Well, my universe's version of… you gave it to me."
"Oh." It's kinda weird that she remembers me giving her a gift that I'm just seeing for the first time. "Well apparently other me has great taste." I joke. "Just put on this lip gloss, and we'll be done." She does, then stands up to look in the mirror.
"Wow… I'm …" She trails off.
"Beautiful." She turns around and hugs me.
"Thank you. I needed this."
"Anytime." I hug her back.
