america

For as long as I can remember, america has been called a melting pot of cultures. Now that I'm older, I think I know what this means

In the grand year of 1776, our founding fathers signed the declaration of independence, officially declaring us our own country. This struck a chord in me. Is it really just that simple, to just say it and its done?

Its not that simple.

People from countries all over the world came here, why, I'm not sure. We were new, young, unexplored, and maybe that's what drew people to us. But then why didn't they just go to other countries closer to them?

Then I realized this-

People came to america because we had no rules, we did things our way, and we had guts to stand up to something much, much bigger than us and we won. It didn't matter that back in 1776 we weren't considered american, we were english and german and polish and spanish or whatever else we were, we joined together despite different cultures, religions, and races we stood together and beat something that frowned upon our entire chaotic existance.

We are not a melting pot anymore. We are AMERICAN, a combination of all cultures and races mixed together to form one giant pile of americans with our own language and our own culture and we still do things our way, still proving that we are strong, because americans are proud.

We will defend our honor with our lives, us americans, and we fly our flag everywhere while other countries think we're strange, and won't care because we are americans and do what we want.

And if anything else fails- every american knows they are american and they are proud of it.
